Fearful Tales: Hansel and Gretel
Hansel and Gretel Are Locked in a Cage!
Hansel and Gretel are locked in a cage, and the evil gingerbread men are all in a rage. Now the good witch has Chip as her guide, hurry now we're on her side! The evil witch has taken Hansel and Gretel and cast a sleeping spell on their mother! What a whimsical and lighthearted game this is. Mean and mischievous gingerbread cookie minions are everywhere! The only cookie not affected seems to be Chip the unibrow cookie who waits patiently to help you search for the kids, and every time he see's the evil witch's face he remembers and tells the story of Hansel and Gretel! The CE does have collectable cupcakes but this edition is a better buy in my opinion. The HOS are interactive and not really difficult and the mini games such as catching falling blueberries with a basket and letting green and rotten blueberries pass, are easy and lighthearted as well. The graphics are pale and definitely keeping in tune with the fairytale theme and designed to entertain kids and adults. Enjoy!

Fantasy Fun Fun Fun
this was just charming all the way through. Beautiful graphics, (reminds me of the drawn series. ) Not really hard but a delight to play. Really immersed you in the fantasy world.
Music and voice overs were great and fit well.
Not for a hard core player but for someone who wants to relax with a game they can play, leave and return to at any time and not be lost and just delight in the graphic style, it's perfect.
The credits were even in the same magical style and it's the first time I've actually read them. I feel more attached to the production team after finishing their delightful labels.

Differences to the Collector's Edition... :)
Played the Collector?s Edition and tried the Standard- to find any differences:
Mentionable Extras ONLY available in the CE: 40 cupcake-collectables, 16 achievements to earn, Bonus-chapter (approx. 40 min. to play) with an additional story and 3 more minigames and 4 hidden-object-scenes, strategy-guide.
Facts: Graphics are comic-style but very adorable (reminded me of my beloved Drawn Series), the characters we meet are great!!!! cutscenes are unfortunately slightly pixelated, which is very unusual for EIPIX games (loved their last Final Cut:)), we have a journal with objectives and your playtime is shown, an interactive map showing you active areas and allowing you to jump, lockable inventory, 3 modes to choose from (you may change your mode during the game), and what I really loved was Chip, the Gingerbreadman!!! He is your story-teller and your hint, which is direction giving or opens a portal to ?jump through?: During the time the hint is recharging he is running round in circles - made me smile every time he did that!
We have 11 Hidden-object-scenes to play, all from list and slightly interactive, items are good to find. Some of those 11 you?ll play twice. So nothing special? Nothing new to expect from the minigames too: rotation- and sliderpuzzles, finding pairs, sudoku, finding differences? all in all there are 18 in the main-game and they are all on the easy side!!!!
The maingame ends conclusively after at most 2,5 hours in the 2nd mode.
It is a very short, but good game, worth a coupon-code anyway!! :)

HANSEL, GRETEL AND GINGERBREAD
This was a rather easy game. The graphics were simple; HOS were easy to find and the mini-games were fun. Dialogue not over-abundant. Really good voice-overs. At times, I thought the game was more about gingerbread men - they seemed to be everywhere. Liked how the gingerbread helper recharged - I'd stop playing to watch him. I wavered between 3 and 4 stars for a couple categories and ended up rounding upward because it is a cute little game.

Whimsical Artwork...very cute!
Good game for beginners and kids, not alot of back & forth running around so you can't really get lost. Good hint system, shows you the room to go to next. Simple HOG's and puzzles. Cute storyline and beautiful artwork. Definitelly worth buying on special!

Fun, but VERY short.
A nifty little game - nice map that allows you to jump, very helpful hint button, decent music, not extremely challenging, but a nice way to spend about an hour and a half. The game is very short, gameplay is very linear. I'd recommend it possibly as a first hidden object game for someone new to the genre, but those who appreciate a longer game with more challenges will be disappointed in this one.

Quirky Fairy Tale That?s Just For Fun
BASED ON DEMO
I love this game?s quirky sense of humour. Yes, it?s a fairy tale, but it?s not a cutesy, play-only-with-the-kids kind of story. It seems to me that it makes fun of itself all the way through, from the jaunty nautical music to the surreal but cartoonlike graphics, to the crazy characters. This is just not a game to take seriously.
For all that, though, the developers have taken their mission to entertain very much to heart and have displayed considerable versatility in producing such an unusual game. The graphics are superbly done, in a cartoon style that allows for a lot of creativity in the depiction of locations and characters. The voice of the little gingerbread helper (yes, okay, he?s sorta cute, but his friends aren?t!) is bound to drive us all nuts, but all other aspects of the soundtracks are delightfully upbeat. The narrator?s voiceover is excellent.
One thing I loved, which perhaps gives you an idea of the style of the game, is the way the narration is done in rhyming couplets (no, not Shakespeare, think nursery rhymes). It gives the whole game a flavour of ?sugar and spice and all things nice?.
Despite its name, this is not really the fairy tale, Hansel and Gretel. It enjoys some elements in common, but is truly its own story, with elements from other tales woven in.
This is a HO game rather than a puzzle adventure, although a total of only 11 HO scenes suggests a fairly short game, as other reviewers have mentioned. That alone makes me glad I chose to wait for the SE, despite some endearing CE features, such as collectible cupcakes.
The HO puzzles are interactive lists, and are visited more than once. The other puzzles are also nothing astonishingly new, but fun. Again, the quality of the gameplay is as good as any other of this developer?s (extremely high quality) games, but don?t expect the same degree of seriousness or difficulty. This is, above all else, a light-hearted game.
If you come to this game with the expectation of compelling story and a challenging design, you will be disappointed. It is simply not that sort of game. But as light hearted romp through the surreal landscape of fairy tales and magic, this game is all about the fun.

better value than the CE but short and easy
If your were to buy the game get this one. This game is quite easy to play and way too short.
The graphics are fair but cute. Not that much with HOS or HOP. Some HOS you do twice but are interactive. The hint button works good but not needed much. This developer normally has great games but this one is far from there best.
Fun to play but again short and east.
