There Goes The Neighborhood! This is the most fun I have ever had playing a match 3 game, and I have played them all! There is so much to do and the Halloween theme is the icing on the cake! The music is lighthearted with the occasional familiar sound of a doorbell. You match at least 3 of eyeballs, cauldrons, spellbooks, voodoo dolls, ghosts, black cats and even candles that crack when you match them. You need to clear cobwebs by making a match of whatever is under the cobwebs and there are stone tiles that break when you match beside them as well. After each level you will be offered items from Agnes's shop to decorate your haunted mansion, some of the items are free but all of the items come with bonus tiles within the game. There is a wooden stake for taking out a single tile, a celtic cross to take out several, a hammer etc that you can select from the inventory list and you can buy upgrades as well. There are bonus tiles available for large matches that are available on the board, a pumpkin that shoots firecrackers randomly, a bullet that takes out an entire vertical line, a flashlight that takes out the entire horizontal line, a silver cross which is a cross pattern, torches for an x pattern and that's just to name a few! There will also be random coins and bags of coins that show up and you need to click on them quickly because they will morph into a normal tile after a few seconds, There are several goals to meet on each level such as destroying a certain number of one item or turning all gold tiles blue by making matches over them, and even making matches below golden skeletons so they fall off the board. As you earn gold you upgrade the mansion and you can save the picture of your mansion as wallpaper! See I told you there was lot's to do, enjoy! October 21, 2013
Fun With Spooky Flair This game was love at first fright. It's a fun Halloween themed game with all aspects done right. It's got a storyline and map to move you along. A haunted house to refurbish with decor won completing the boards. You don't get to choose where to put the decor but it's still a welcome interlude between boards. Overall, the game play is smooth with relaxed and timed mode. It seems you can keep making matches as tiles fall. So far it seems to have the usual power ups and bonus tiles. The artwork is really nicely done. The backgrounds are spooky in a non-threatening way. Tiles are a good size making it easy to see and match. The tile graphics are freaking awesome- a Skull, creepy raggedy Ann doll, Eyeballs?. Where this game really shines is the Halloween music and sound effects. They set the mood AND entertain. For instance, make a large match and bonus tiles appear on the board that have their own unique sound and animations. Examples: When you get and use a Jack O'Lantern bonus tile you hear and see it splatter over an area of the board as it removes a bunch of tiles. When you get/use a Silver Bullet it shoots and removes a vertical column. For me, those bonus tiles are so much fun, they almost become a diversion from accomplishing your goal for each board. LOL! I put the level of challenge at "Good" but this is subject to further review. After playing through this game on relaxed I might go back and do it on timed. Hard core players who demand a challenge might find this too easy. This is a must buy for Match-3 players who want some Halloween fun done by professionals. Congratulations to the developers. I wish they'd put out a similar game for Christmas. Definite buy and highly recommend. October 21, 2013
Very nice game that gets harder as it goes on First, the disclosure: I like to play Match-3 games, and I only play untimed. This game has very fun art, and quite a nice story for a Match-3. As you progress, you can buy decorations for your spooky house and buy power-ups, which can definitely be useful. The game has 100 levels, and they get progressively harder, although not so hard that the game would cease to be fun for an older child. You can play timed or untimed and switch at any time. A couple of things I particularly like: You can move tokens into empty spaces to make a match, and the appearance of coins (which can be picked up by clicking on them now or later) gives an extra dimension to the strategy. The game pieces are Halloween-themed and bright, easy to tell apart. So I recommend this game for people who might have vision issues, including colorblindness. October 21, 2013
Perfect Match-3 for Halloween! This game is one of few match-3 games that I consider just perfect! It is so much fun. The play is quick, and it can be timed or not, so should please every player! The graphics are wonderful, and creepy enough for adults (me) without too much for the kids. Decorating your house is fun, since we do that in real life too. If you like match-3 games, you'll love this one! If you don't, try it anyway, it's a fun holiday diversion. I want to play "just one more board...just one more board..." October 21, 2013
Progressive Challenge to This Game Spooky Bonus (Match-3) When I first started the game, it seemed like just another match-3 games, but happily, this was not the case. Options include separate sliders for Music and Sound, Full Screen, Widescreen, Tips, and Custom Cursor. The graphics look great in widescreen. You can play TIMED or UNTIMED, and if you enter the menu during gameplay, you can restart a level at any time. You can't switch modes during a level, but there's a box you can check or uncheck between the levels. Finishing before the timer -- which was very generous -- runs out gives you a score bonus, but does not affect how much money you have to spend. Money! Yes, we earn money! What do we spend it on? Things with the thing... ya know, stuff! *snicker* Money is used to purchase new items to decorate your house with. This isn't your regular decorating, though -- most everything you buy is going to earn you new types of bombs, so even if you're not interested in decorating, you have an extra incentive to do so. The game starts out easily enough -- reach a goal, which is clearly listed on the left of the screen, and you pass the level. The gameplay becomes more and more complex as you progress, but not to the point that it becomes stressful (remember that I prefer to play these on timed mode.) Eventually you will have four goals to meet before you finish the level. You can continue to make matches whilst pieces are still falling, which is always nice. The graphics are a lot of fun, with nicely-sized items (not too big or too small,) and great backgrounds. One of my favorite features of the game is that at the end of every level, you are given an option to make the background image your wallpaper. I just kept playing and playing, wanting to see what the next wallpaper was going to look like! Just one more level, just one more level... :D You can also make your house (you know, the one you're decorating) your wallpaper by clicking on the paint roller at the bottom left of the screen. All in all, this is a fun holiday offering, and one I happily purchased as soon as I finished my demo. October 21, 2013
Love it! Last year I bought Tricks & Treats. I tried Spooky Bonus and it appears to be on a similar track. You play match 3 games and win decorations for your house. Just an all-round fun game. I recommend it for those who love Halloween games as much as I do. October 21, 2013
Spooky Bonus is a blast! I sort of like match 3 games, but this one I LOVE! It's really fun, and you get to choose the power-ups you want to add to your arsenal. And they appear as decorations for your haunted mansion! November 5, 2013
Perfectly paced Match 3! Highly Recommended! Hours & Hours of gameplay for your buck. Great twist & variety on earing bonuses. Unlocking bonuses (free & purchaseable) were well paced throughout the game. TIP: You can move a token into an empty space to make a match (huge plus in my opinion) but if you make an "L" shape you won't get the bonus so just stick with match 4 & 5's in a row. Especially loved the little ending note from Jake at the end too! ...Addiction alert - I couldn't put it down once I started. :) Enjoy!! November 3, 2013
Cute and relaxing. This is one cute game with some great features. Relaxed or timed mode that can be chosen each level just before pressing the 'play' button - no need to go into Options. Levels can be replayed if desired. The timer button is great - it counts down so time left on level is always known. The board is bright and the different tile types are clearly seen, not just a jumble of similar colours - love the adorable voodoo doll. I like that the power-ups can be bought as part of decorating the yard. Even better there's lots of free decorations too. Gold can be collected several ways: clear the gold tiles; drop the gold skulls off bottom of board; plus coins and sacks of gold to click on during game. There are two types of power-ups, ones from M4's and M5's #line only# that appear on the board plus ones bought from the "shop". Took me a while #no instructions screen# to work out that making a match with a "glinting" tile powered those ones up. All in all a very good game for those times when the brain needs something to divert it from a busy day. October 21, 2013
great Match 3 game I'm not a big Match 3 fan, but I do like the games that give you something to build/decorate, like Fishdom 3 and this one. This is an enjoyable game that gets more difficult as it goes. You get to buy things to decorate your lawn for Halloween. Based on how much I've played it, it is a lot of fun! I hope this developer will make another game soon, hopefully a CE with more levels and more things to do. November 4, 2013
