Amazing Second Game in Myths of the World Series Our adventure begins as you are looking out the window at what seems to be the longest winter you can remember when suddenly you hear a voice behind you. You turn to see Vesna the Goddess of Spring who appears in your mirror and tells you that she has been kidnapped by Morana the Goddess of Winter who is turning the world to a land of ice and snow. You play the game as the Child of Spring, the only one who can stop Morana and return warmth to the world. Vesna sends you on a quest to find a wise old woman Baba Yaga who lives in a hut in the distant forest but she can only send you as far as the village gates. After that, you must rely upon your instincts and Vesna?s animal friends to help you on your quest. As she leaves you at the gates, Vesna hands you a magic Spring Brush that will help you on your journey. Early into the game you rescue an Ermine who becomes your pet and helper. Yes, you have a pet helper that you get to name but don?t despair if you have reached your limit with overly cute animals being added to games, because your Ermine friend does prove to be useful and will assist you when you need it most. As you move through your adventure you also meet many other animals, some of them friendly and useful but others not so much who are only there to hinder you along the way. I?m not going to say a lot about the technical aspects of playing the game except to note that you have a custom option for gameplay, and it is loaded with choices. The graphics are excellent being very colorful and crisp. As is becoming the case with Eipix games the sound package is very good including lip-synced voiceovers, excellent music and environmental sounds. You have a diary that contains your objectives as well as your notes that will help you as you progress on your adventure. The interactive transporter map that indicates where you have tasks to accomplish is located on the lower right of your screen next to the hint flower. The magic Spring Brush that you receive from Vesna at the beginning of the game lives across the top of your inventory box. Be sure to watch for areas where you can use the brush because if it very helpful at times. There are various types of interactive HOS, some are the standard list type and others are silhouette type. If you would rather play a match 3 game rather than look for items on the list, you have that option as well. During the demo there were not as many puzzles as there were HOS, and I prefer a game that is just the opposite ? more puzzles than HOS but that is not the case with Stolen Spring. The few puzzles I did encounter were very easy and there was hardly any challenge. Throughout the game you will find and collect pet coins to use presumably to purchase items for your Ermine pal. Although there are achievements to be earned, I didn?t notice any morphing objects or other collectibles. The remainder of the CE content is standard fare with nothing exceptional in the package. Early on at BFG, we had to pay $6.99 for the strategy guide and that is the only extra that has true value in the CE at least for me. Oftentimes we now find walkthroughs available at no extra charge so it really boils down to the cost difference and whether or not you can wait a month for the SE version of a game to be released when deciding which version of the game you want. Overall, Myths of the World Stolen Spring is an excellent five-star game, and maybe is even better than the first Myths of the World ? The Chinese Healer. That being said, I?m not sure if I will purchase the CE or wait for the SE to be released but I guess it will depend on what type of sale BFG has in store for us this weekend. As always, I recommend that you try the demo to see if Stolen Spring is a game that you will enjoy. November 7, 2013
Great Game! Who didn't love the game, Chinese Healer? The Myths of the World Series always manages to offer interesting storylines, beautiful graphics, well acted voice-overs and entertaining game mechanics. Stolen Spring adds a little more pleasantries such as an ermine companion who you will need and naturally extras as well. Today our story is based on a Slavic theme and it is the battle of the Season. Winter has taken over and she is bent on freezing the world and getting rid of Spring Goddess Vesna all-together. Your mission as the Child of Spring is to naturally stop her and bring back Spring. First you need to find Baba Yaga who will help you. I will be honest with you, as I am dearly pressed for time; I only played 30 minutes of the game and already have hit the buy button. I really will not be able to offer a very comprehensive review this time but will say that all I needed was peeking at the main menu to know that this game was a buy for me. You have three levels of difficulty setting along with a chance to customize it. Extras offer free games, a bonus game and a list of achievements which always makes a game interesting. Game features include a diary and a list of objectives. You have a map that will offer a task list if you choose so. It will also allow you to travel. Then there is your pet Ermine which I named Erskin. You pet has very sharp teeth which will prove to be useful to you. You need to collect pet coins which are easy to spot throughout the game and you guessed it, you get to buy silly toys for your pet. If you click on the Ermine, you are transported to his room which by the way you can change various furniture and settings. You can also change his looks if you want with your coins. OK, a bit of a family game here, an old folk tale with again a cute creature and some not so cute. Still I enjoy these games and I enjoy the storyline. Myths of the World brings us an entertaining HOPA game with interactive HO scenes that can be switched over to M3 Games instead for those who are weary of looking for items. I especially like that option and as I am a fan of M3 games, not a bad choice to make. Standard Adventure game play has you taking on tasks to help certain characters, looking for items of interest and solving the occasional mini-game which are not so difficult. A Great Game that is entertaining for all and has all the bells and whistles that deserve a CE status. November 7, 2013
TWO THUMBS UP! I actually liked this game better than the last one of this series! Morana the icy evil witch has kidnapped the goddess of spring casting a never ending brutal winter (who knows what happens to summer and fall) As the child of spring it is up to you to save the people of the village as well as all the cute animals trying to survive a relentless winter. Every scene is chock full of things to do, with a lot of inventory items to find and use as well as hidden pet coins. You find and name a beautiful ermine and use the coins you find to change her looks or add some bling, and there are some inventory items that she can help with by untangling ropes or sharpening sticks! The difficulty mode can be customized to suit you and there are a ton of unique achievements to earn. The HOS are interactive list finds as well as finding the items that match the shape shown in the inventory. You have the option of switching to a match 3 instead of hidden object scenes. The mini games are simple most of which are puzzles, swapping tiles, or turning tiles to complete a picture. This one's a keeper folks. enjoy! November 7, 2013
HOW AWFUL - NO PRETTY SPRING Can't imagine anyone not liking this game. It HAS SO MUCH - 4 modes of difficulty, including customized play; making of the game; replaying HOS and mini-games; bonus HOS; movies; map with objectives and notation of places where there are outstanding activities to do; a helpful pet and purchases for it; and achievements. STORYLINE: How awful - no spring (which probably means no summer). Only the hard-core winter sports enthusiasts would like a constant winter. It's up to you to restore spring. This must be a LONG game since you get an achievement for completing it in less than 5 hours. Since I play very casually, I'm expecting about 7 hours. The HOS are not crowded and the objects are nicely spread out, but the palette of the objects seems to favor shades of only a few colors, so you still have to hunt for them. If you prefer not to play HOS, you have a match 3. PUZZLES are terrific - not too difficult but still creative and entertaining. MOVIES are great for moving the story along. Love the little ERMINE. He's helpful in a different way than we are used to. He helps you with objects. His first task was to fix a messed up rope so you could actually use it. I preferred to watch him do it in lieu of immediately searching for other activities to do. Like that you have to also save various animals. VOICE OVERS and MUSIC were very good. There is no lip sync in English. But that doesn't bother me since the game is translated into different languages. So there would always languages with no lip sync. GRAPHICS are superb; beautiful and very detailed locations. A lot of thought went into this game and for me, the CE wins hands down over the SE, as it has everything I would like in a game and is worth the extra cost to me. Can't wait to play the entire game with bonus. November 7, 2013
finally a game I enjoy without skipping all the games based on the demo I enjoyed this game. and wow are the opinions varied. I love having a critter to help and I actually enjoyed the fact that I was actually able to complete the games with out skipping them. so often these days the games are ridiculous and I skip them all, these were straight forward, understandable and doable. the only issue I have is I did not use the walk through, the hint button works great so I will wait till the regular comes out as the collectors for me would be a waste since I don't care about extra's any way. and I don't use sound so I can't rate that but I do recommend this game. Myths of the World 2 is another Eipix winner! Myths of the World: Chinese Healer was groundbreaking, with a great immersive story and atmosphere. In the second part of the series you can expect a really different setting and story, but also another amazing HOPA game. Let's start with the storyline. The story is mystic. The goddess of winter want's to rule the world with an eternal winter and only you, the child of spring can stop her, before it's too late. A great story with many great done cutscenes and characters. And in the end the great final battle, between the goddess and the Spring child awaits you. The graphics are great, unique and make the game special. They're very different from the chinese graphics in the first game, because the setting is now in a slavic land. They are very atmospheric again. You can nearly feel the snow and the cold winds. As I said before the cutscenes are nicely done too. I really love them. The Music is atmospheric too and fit's into the game. They make the atmosphere and the experience while playing even better. I really love the music, while using a springbrush, to melt ice. It makes me feel happy. The HO's are good done, but not perfect. I would really love to see more challenge in them. As in the other Eipix games they are slightly interactive. That's why I have to rate the level of challenge a bit lower than the rest. The Mini Games are a bit too easy too. Maybe it would be good to make them in two modes. Casual and Hard. But there are different puzzles than in the other Eipix games. So the mini-games are ok for me. The gameplay is good and not too easy. You have a helper animal, which can craft some things and you can collect coins for him. I really like, that it's not too cute. There are varius achievements and it's not easy to get them all. The CE comes with many extras and a great, funny Making Of video, like you know it from the Eipix games, but this time the team sings. Afterall the game is great and equal to the first one. For me a worthly CE and a five star game. Eipix, you did a great job again. I can't wait for Myths of the World 3: Spirit Wolf. November 6, 2013
Child of spring...I'll give you frostbite you wont believe!!! Bravo!!! I loved this game tremendously. Such imaginative and creative gameplay. Help Vesna defeat Morana to restore spring. You are introduced to host of Fabulous characters, Yaga, Father Frost, Dwart, and Vladimir. You get help from these mystical ones, as well as a fellow pet. Journey into this fantastic world with a magic spring brush to rid yourself of the freezing ice. The bonus game takes place in the heavens!!!! I Which is indicitive of the game. No stress just a gorgeous gem of an adventure.Thank you Big Fish. November 30, 2013
Great game!!....loved it !! I've already played this three times now. What a fun and different game. Graphics are very well done, had a different twist to it by having you melt things....you'll have to see that for yourself. It's well worth buying and I highly recommend it. I love the fact that the HO scenes are not that difficult. I hate to play some of them where things are so small and hard to find ...not in this one. You can also make the difficulty a "custom" one by sliding the button and make the hints and skips recharge in only 10 seconds....but I found I didn't need it much. You use the collected items fairly quickly. Just a very fun game. November 10, 2013
Winter on the Warpath! Save Spring and Discover Your Destiny! Based on demo. The goddess of winter, Morana, has captured Vesna, the goddess of spring, and threatens to keep the world in eternal winter. Vesna chooses you as the world's savior. As you battle ice and snow you discover your courage and strength and your true identity! This game is from Eipix and their usual high standards are evident in every aspect of the game. I love the wintry, cold northern clime---makes me want to grab a coat. And you get to save animals throughout the game! Who doesn't like that? An ermine and a mouse become your companions and helpers as you battle Morana and her winter spells. The graphics are great. You really feel the cold and desolation of a northern winter. I think the cut scenes are especially good. The characters mouths move with the dialogue and they really add to the enjoyment of the game. There are two types of HOSs: classic list and silhouette. And you can play Match-3 games instead of the HOSs if you like. The puzzles are of medium difficulty. And there are tons of fun and challenging achievements to earn! This is a true CE! This game is a winner! I'm excited to play it! November 7, 2013
