Mahjong Christmas Everybody Spectacular amount of options with this mahjong. You get to pick which layout you want for the tiles and you can choose timed or not. There are actually 15 different backgrounds to choose from such as winter wonderland, snowy day (personally I have had too many snowy days of late), Santa, Gingerbread and more. You also get to choose the theme for the tiles themselves and choose a random game or a winnable game. Gotta love all those options, enjoy! December 19, 2013
Shockingly Not Bad. Give It A Whirl I downloaded demo with every intent on hating this game based on the 3 pix posted on it's product page? and ended up having to revise my prejudgement. I personally love Mahjong but prefer having themed tiles and not standard Chinese. This game delivers on that very well. You have a lot of options in this game. Tile Set, Background, Layout all of which you can choose individually in "Custom" mode or use the game's "Theme" option. The artwork, while unremarkable and kind of cheap is at least colorful, cheery and easy to see. Visual quality is mediocre. Gameplay is basic with options for winnable/random and timed/untimed. No other sorts of challenges. The music is even cheaper than the graphics. Repetitive & annoying. They'd have done better to have none than put the awful 'music' in. This seems like a good game to play around the holidays with family and as an easy past time while waiting for the laundry to get done. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this as a 'buy' but a definite 'give it a try'. If we could give half starts this would have gotten 3.5. Rating got rounded up because this game doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. December 10, 2013
It's not that bad-only buy with a free game credit or code I love these style of games-but this one is good-but not great. It has bright and colorful graphics-but not a whole lot of effort went in to the visual quality. There are plenty of backgrounds and layouts to choose from. The biggest reason I say it's not worth paying for is the music. I say put in better music-then it's worth buying. I say give this a try-and use a game credit--otherwise pass it up. Maybe they'll come up with a better version next year? December 19, 2013
sweet Mahjong game Good variety of games and tiles December 11, 2013
Frustrating You have a number of options for backgrounds, tiles, layout, etc. I've played mahjong for a long time but in 40 min. of playing every game I play ended in a stalemate. I used the different tiles (each tile set has a different level of difficulty), but the same result - stalemate. There are no shuffle options. At the end of the game you are sent back to the set up options page. Since I never completed a game I have no idea if they always send you to the beginning, or if you are given a new layout. Awful BASED ON 10 MINS DEMO You have to work pretty hard to get me giving you only two stars, particularly with a Christmas themed game, where a lot more leeway is allowed because, let?s face it, you?re just looking for something mood-appropriate, not rocket science. But this game managed to really annoy me in only a few minutes. It kept dropping out too, while my system tried to cope with it. The graphics are so low resolution my monitor couldn?t adjust enough to keep the whole picture on the page. I can?t believe people are even thinking about making a game so visually cheap and nasty. Admittedly, the images, when my pc finally found a compromise, were clear and pleasant enough, although fake looking and totally lacking in detail. The music sounded like a disco tune on fast forward, cheery yes, but seriously irritating, in a game traditionally associated with calm and peaceful sounds. Again, admittedly, the music would probably appeal to the young kids that this game seems to be aiming at, but... The game does stay within the theme though, and you get a choice of 3 Christmas related tiles, interesting ones. You also get plenty of layouts and backgrounds to choose from. All in keeping with the mood. Many of the layouts are not ?doable?, but just continuing with the Christmas touch. You can change your set up to exclude unwinnable layouts. You can have either timed or untimed mode. You can also undo, or get a hint. It?s basic, it?s shallow, it?s just awful, and there are better Christmas mahjong and other games to be had. One Word... Boring!!!! No challenge, no excitement. I did like the graphics though and the fact that you could change tiles and pick your layout. The music is awful. Best bet it you have to have music is to mute their music and play some Christmas music from your own music library. It makes more interesting. Probably great for kids between 7-12 December 20, 2013
Curse of the Cursor I didn't even play one single game. The cursor was slow and awkward with no option to have no game cursor. I usually don't use the game cursor unless I have no other choice. i find they are almost always too big or not precise enough for most games. But this giant hand was just ridiculous and the movement was lurchy and unresponsive. I'm glad I did the demo first. Hated the start up music as well...seriously annoying. December 19, 2013
Waste of money Brought the game and after playing for 1 1/2 hrs still could not win a game. There is no shuffle button. Wish I would have tried it before buying it. December 19, 2013
Not worth it Irrating music - not Christmas themed BTW. Even turned almost off, it was still loud. Graphics - couldn't tell what tiles were supposed to go with what set. Tiles, boards, game setup seem to be connected somehow since you can't change one without chainging the other. A love mahjong games (& have a lot of them), however this one is a no buy. Play is dated without any of the perks associated with the new mahjong games. No trophies. No shuffle. Hard to decipher tile sets. I really wanted to like this one, but I couldn't. I thought one of the negative reviews was being harsh until I tried it. He/she was actually being kind. This developer needs to look at what's happening in current games. This would have been a pretty good game 5 years ago. Now - no way. Sorry - I wanted to like it, but there's just nothing to like. December 19, 2013
