It was well worth to wait! I first thought there would never be a third instalment, so when I saw it on the list of new releases I jumped on it! Like the two earlier versions you're Don Adelantado and this time you're discovering territory, save survivors and send gold, but you're actually chasing your bride who has been taken by cavemen. As with the others there are lots of wrong statements and many mix-ups with the different native American cultures, but heck, the game set up, the graphics and the tasks are so much fun this can still be overlooked. It felt shorter than the others, but maybe it was just the routine of having played the other two games repeatedly before this one came out. I hope there will be more games of the kind by this company, I can only add a big thank you and well done! January 4, 2014
A Great Adventure Game If you liked the first two Books, you will find this much the same. A few things change in the play, but the story continues to unfold. I think this is a great game and I hope there will be more adventure games to follow after this theme ended. The play is not completely linear, but in most instances you cannot wander off course too far because of the requirements of strength or oratory. I did find one level where I went the wrong path and exhausted all of my resources and had to restart the level. The second try I went a different direction and renewed my resources. I play in relaxed mode and levels typically take around 90 minutes to 2 hours to complete, so allow plenty of time for playing. I can say that I found the secrets to be far better hidden than in previous games. I missed 1 or 2 secrets in every level but the first two. I may have to replay them. December 28, 2013
No more, sniff, sniff This is the last we see of Don Diego de Leon. There will be no more, sniff, sniff. No more marauding dinosaurs to battle. No more quests to keep it from being dull once the resource management is mastered and producing steadily. No more caves with stalactites to smash, levels to pull. No more survivors to rescue. Nothing of what we loved in all the previous games will come back. But we have this one last romp. And it is a great one. This time Don Diego gets hurt a lot and you need to set up a healer's hut for him. He gets to visit caves, and pyramids, and now teletransportation gates... One last hurrah before we have to come back to more mundane games.... December 25, 2013
More, Please. I've played all three in relaxed mode and enjoyed them immensely. I'm sure I'll replay in the future. While you don't need to take the books in sequence, it makes it more interesting. Graphics are detailed, easy to see, complement the storyline, and beautifully drawn. Another reason why I enjoyed relaxed mode. The Book Three Conclusion level is impressive. Music is lovely. I never muted it. Game-play keeps players engaged and thinking about what to do next. A maze-like quality presents an overall challenge. Generating resources dominate game-play in the beginning. Setting up buildings pays off in the end. Each new book has new buildings and tasks that have to be done. I would not want to play these games in the Timed Mode. I think the pressure would remove the ambiance. I definitely would have missed the details in the art. My only complaint is that it's a Trilogy. I hope the developers come up with a similar game using a different theme. Or maybe Don Diego finds a new set of adventures :-) January 24, 2014
