Back In The USSR This is a great game for beginners but experienced players might not enjoy it as much. You are camping when a creepy guy jumps out of the bushes, knocks you out cold kidnaps your bride to be, and retreats to an abandoned underground USSR bunker. I loved the fact that every item in every scene stayed true to the time period, everything was old and rusty and everything had the look of abandonment. This is a fairly easy game to figure out and some of the Hidden Object Games can be difficult because of low lighting. The HOS are doubled, repeating with the same scene, but different items to search for. The mini games are fun but not really challenging such as turning straight and elbow shaped pipes in order to connect from start to finish. In my opinion, if you are new at this genre, or want to play a game with little stress then I think this is the game for you, if you need a game with a lot of challenge then pass this one up, enjoy! almost an adventure game! I really liked what I played of the demo - it is more like an old adventure game than a HOG. Sometimes random clicking was needed as "sparklies" were sparse. It is refreshing that all the signs are written in russian instead of english. Translations are "spot on" which really helps. Story a bit weak but game well worth the effort. January 23, 2014
A Great Game. Something Different. I really enjoyed playing this adventure game. Lots and lots of puzzles. Some had me stumped until I figured out I needed another piece to complete the puzzle. Hidden Objects were easy to find. No challenge there. Although the visual and graphics weren't excellent, the gameplay was fantastic. Interesting storyline and it was nice to see a male hero instead of a female lost in fantasy land. Sound effects were fine and music good. The characters were somewhat stiff. I really didn't mind because I thought it was a terrific game. I played in the casual mood because I wasn't sure I was going to like it. A wonderful surprise at just how good it was. I will definitely play again in the hard mood to challenge myself. Nice chance of pace from the HOPA norm. January 24, 2014
No walkthrough, it does not matter My golden rule usually is if a game has no walkthrough I don't buy it, but I took a chance with this one, and boy am I glad, I've loved playing it, in fact I'm in the middle of it now, I hope others take a chance as well, you won't regret it January 24, 2014
secret bunker ussr good story and play level. i like this type of game not so hard and it is exciting. nice graphics and sounds not to loud or in your face. great puzzles to figure out and ho's are easy to do. i would recommend this game to first timers and experts. all in all a really fun and good game to play. i like the mystery and tasks to find the girl and save the world. i would definatly buy the next one (if they make it). BUY IT and you'll have a good fun time playing. January 29, 2014
A Great Use of A Credit I really enjoyed this game and am sorry to see the overall rating wasn't that high. I played it from start to finish and there isn't a map for the entire game but there is one when you really need it. My favourite games where shooting the fish and the bats, tricky but doable. Well paced and the HOP's where challenging enough to keep me interested instead of annoyed. Great Job. January 23, 2014
Great Game! I prefer games that are set in modern times. The storyline, while fantasy, was much more believable than many others with talking animals and spirit beings, etc. It was an enjoyable, challenging, and very fun game! February 13, 2014
Dark, Eerie Hidden Object Adventure Game Based on the Demo The soundtrack is eerie with great voiceovers, especially the screams and demonic laughter. The graphics and visuals are just the way I like them: dark, eerie, creepy, and scary. The storyline is great. Attacked by some villain in the woods you have to save your girlfriend who has taken shelter in a secret underground bunker (where the villain is now inside). The door is made of solide metal with a bullet proof glass window. You have no explosives, no grendades, not even an AR-15 but you will get the job done. The hidden object scenes are straight lists with some interactivity. The lists are clear, the objects to find are moderately easy to moderately difficult to find. The mini games and puzzles were fun and challenging. This one is a keeper. February 3, 2014
Rats, Bats, Rust & Tunnels BASED ON DEMO FIRST IMPRESSIONS This is a well-produced standalone SE. There are no bells and whistles of course, but its low key start is paired with crisp graphics and solid gameplay. Although not a world beater, this is a game with a unique story and enough of interest to keep you going. SIGHTS & SOUNDS The graphics are excellent, with clear and sharp images, pseudo-realistic. Though dark in places, the HOPs always have enough light. There is a lot of rust and grunge. This is not a ?pretty? game. The opening movie is very 3D adventure game stuff, which I personally dislike, but it is done well. One thing I really liked is that instead of black bars on the side of the screen when in WS mode, there is appropriate wallpaper. Even better, this changes from location to location and is actually a nice addition to the atmosphere. The sounds are excellent. Particularly Emily?s scream. The music is unobtrusive. There are no voiceovers past the couple of lines in the opening scene (at least, not yet, we?ve not run into any other person so far). WHAT?S HAPPENING? Out camping one night, you and your fiance are attacked by a strange robed man. When you come to, you find Emily has been dragged off into a secret bunker. Following her is not easy, the bunker is only accessible through a rust-ridden, damp and dingy set of tunnels, where the only living things you have seen are rats and bats. But you must make the most of the resources around you to survive and rescue her. GAMEPLAY This is your average HOPA game. There are perhaps more puzzles than you?d expect (23). They vary from easy to tricky, and at least some of them are original. They suit the game very well. The HOPs (10) are visited twice. They are standard interactive word lists, but were a little bit more challenging, even on the lower of two difficulty levels. The items requiring interaction are indicated in the list, but there is no gears or hand cursor when you hover over them, and no sparkles to point them out. There is no map, and the journal is good mostly for summarising the game thus far. The hint is directional and quick to refill. There is a lot of black bar commentary in this game, and much handholding. Apart from some tricky puzzles, the game is not hard, so many will find this extra layer of assistance annoying. Even I was mildly irritated by it. COMBINED IMPACT The game is a bit slow. I feel that I should have achieved more in the 35 mins the demo took. All things considered, nothing much had happened. Otherwise, I think this is a good game, particularly for a standalone SE. I love that the story setting is so totally different from any other. Although it is not really something I could get into, many will like it much more than me. January 22, 2014
Da! If a game keeps my attention for the full 1 hour trial, I usually buy it. This game did that. This is a pretty typical HOPA, with a refreshingly, different setting for its typical save the kidnapped girl/boyfriend storyline. For me both the HOPs & puzzles had a reasonable difficulty level. I like games where I can feel successful w/o having to use the hint/skip button. So it was a da for me. January 22, 2014
