Arrr Pirate Fill And Cross Mates! I love it! Nothing special, greens and tans with crossed swords as the X but these fill and cross games are so addictive that you just keep playing and playing. There are 6 Islands to visit and 16 trophies to earn, with the goal to achieve 3 gold stars on each level. You have the option of replaying any game in order to try and achieve 3 stars. There is a store to purchase upgrades such as 2 starting hints, 3 mistakes allowed instead of 2 and an upgrade to refill the hint meter. This game has the same music and graphics as the Fort Defense series which can be pretty epic, enjoy! March 3, 2014
Makes you think! As with most games, this begins on the easy side and gradually becomes more difficult. While the numbers are being solved, a multi-color picture immerges. There are two different ways fo play this game which makes it more fun. This is as fast paced as you chose to solve each number puzzle. Love this type of game so I really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it! March 4, 2014
This one makes you think I like this game, it made me really use my brain cells. My only complaint is the mechanism for changing check marks to cross marks is just backwards. It would make much more sense to click on the check box to use it, instead of covering up the cross box to get to the check. You would have to actually play the game to understand what I am trying to say. It caused me to make a mistake at the beginning of the easy levels. Of course you will adapt, but for a logic game, it is illogically designed. March 5, 2014
Almost a 5 Star* This is one of my favorite types of games. I have bought almost every single one of this type and constantly replay. I like the fact that it is untimed and, for the most part, a good logic workout for the brain. Even my elementary age grandchildren like playing. The only negative is that some of the levels end up with the player having to "guess" or use a hint in order to finish. I consider myself an expert at this type of game and I usually am able to complete without using a hint. There are a couple of levels so far that could have "either or" placements of the "checks", but if you guess incorrectly, then you get a mistake and may need to replay the level. I will most likely go ahead and buy this game. March 10, 2014
What story line? Very little in the way of a story here, the game is just a series of nonograms and they are not really reflective of any images. By that I mean you can't tell you are making a picture of any one particular object. However, it was a very satisfying game to play, decent length and plenty of variety. Downside (apart from the lack of story/visuals) is that one does have to make a guess sometimes rather than use pure logic. But again, not enough to knock more than one star off. Some reviewers have complained about not being able to use the mouse keys to swap between filling or blanking a square. I had no problem using my mouse for this and didn't need to use the "tick and cross" slider at the side of the game board. No idea why it is that some people can and some people cannot. But if it is a biggie to you, then play the demo first to make sure your right-click works in the game. All in all a quite satisfying little game, March 21, 2014
good for the brain I recently discovered this game-type and have enjoyed the brain exercise. This particular game progresses nicely - starts easy, then gradually makes you pay attention and think! A nice change of pace from my usual hos! March 4, 2014
Too bad that you are forced to guess or use hint I was only a short way into the demo when I had situations where you had to either use a hint or guess. I prefer to have a definite solution to pictogram puzzles such as these, where you must work it out with the clues given (as in a crossword). This one falls short in this respect, and thus is not a buy for me. Too bad, as there are other aspects of the game that are very good. Can only recommend if you are not averse to guessing or using hints. March 3, 2014
Not as good as the others I love this type of game and they are so hard to find so I snatched this one right up. That being never get beyond a 10x15 puzzle! The other Fill and cross that was posted just a few days ago went up to 15x20 and was much more fun and challenging. I agree with the others that having to use hints to solve or guess is a real bummer. Please give us more of these games but better ones PLEASE!! March 20, 2014
I love this type of game! (But this isn't the greatest...) I do really love this type of game but even in the first levels there is a lot of guessing - no logical reason why you would fill in one square in one row vs. another. Some other games like this have a very clear logic to them but having to guess takes away any of the point of the game. I wouldn't mind guessing except the way this game is set up if you make two mistakes you have to start the entire puzzle over - after a while that becomes tiresome. If it was just a point deduction (or if you could make more than one mistake without penalty) I wouldn't mind the guessing but if I am going to be penalized at least let it be because I made an illogical choice, not because the game is set up in such a way that I have to guess randomly. I believe this same company also made Fill and Cross: World Contest (it is set up the exact same way) and I am finding the same issues with that product. Other random points: The music is fine, very pirate-y but I always turn the music off anyway. The sound effects are alright but the X sound when you X out a box is really annoying. Again, I love these games A LOT and have been waiting for more so I am glad to have this but there are better ones out there like any of the World Mosaics ones - those are great. March 6, 2014
