Love Hidden Object Games with great graphics I have a great collection of this type of games and love all I have. I consider myself an expert at them. This games level of challenge is really low and the storyline is reallly poor dragging with no fun or excitement. Didn't buy it!! April 6, 2014
in my opinion I was disappointed with this game. I love the Edgar Allen Poe series, but the voice overs on this game were not good, especially for Dupin. He is French and should sound like the respectable detective that he is, but in this game he didn't. I don't quite understand what the rat in the corner was all about, or the dollhouses/coin collecting. To me it just didn't live up to the quality of the prior games in the series. April 5, 2014
terrible Worst game I ever played. What the secret is is how to play the game? March 29, 2014
In My HONEST Opinion BASED ON COMPLETED DEMO: I played this game on the 'tomorrow's game today' deal and am a bit late rating it. I hadn't planned on rating it at all (because I rarely rate anything). I just disliked this game so much that I couldn't help myself. Every time I see it on the top games list it just irks me to no end. This game is a good example of why you shouldn't let a series go on and on unless you have pre-planned every game in advance. It felt like this story was just thrown together at last minute. Voice-overs were unbelievable and each sounded like it was coming from some mentally incompetent psych ward patient. Every character sounded the same person. It was almost like a bad imitation of one of Robin Williams weird character voices. The storyline has been done a thousand times over. The doll houses, the 'stone into life' thing, the characters, the voices, the setting- I could go on and on because there was so much about this game that I hated. I'm sorry I just had to let it out. I haven't hated a game this much in a long time. There was only one thing that I liked and that was that they chose to make a 'custom' difficulty level. I think every game should have that option. Needless to say and IMHO, I do not recommend buying before trying. April 2, 2014
Shockingly Bad I own all of games in the Dark Tales series. I wish I didn't own this one. In the other series, the voices -mostly- matched the characters. Here, the voice of Dupin is different, and not for the better. The tasks and the objects to be found are very random. The graphics are bizarre. The side game -finding coins-, and the mouse friend -who has to be trained-are distractions. And what's up with the sunflower eating rat that does not appear to serve any purpose at all?? I used to like games made by ERS, although I've noticed they have degraded in quality over the past year or so. This one is *SO* bad, I doubt I will ever purchase another ERS game again. In fact, it has ruined the appeal of all games in this genre. I'm really sorry I purchased this game. April 12, 2014
