Nancy Drew: The Deadly Device 3.8 5 23 23
A Challenging Adventure Awaits You I have all 29 games in the Nancy Drew series, and I found this entry to be particularly challenging. If you choose to play the game on the Amateur level of difficulty, though, you will have in-game hints available to you which will give you anything from gentle nudges in the right direction or, if you need it, the full solution. During the game, you will interrogate suspects; learn interesting facts about Nikola Tesla, the great physicist and inventor; spend time snooping; and investigate the lab during the day as well as at night. If you have played Alibi in Ashes (Nancy Drew game #25), you will be either delighted or dismayed to discover that Deirdre Shannon is one of Nancy's phone contacts in The Deadly Device. I enjoyed the phone conversations between Nancy and Deirdre, and I like the way that these games often bring back characters from previous games in the series so that we get to talk to them again. Have fun; I certainly did! February 11, 2014
This game is deadly good!!!! First of all I love the Nancy Drew games. They just keep getting better and better. This game is no different. The graphics are top notch, the story line, the dialogue. The puzzles are a great challenge! There are plenty of laughs and easter eggs to find. Plus awards to win. I did have to use a walk through, but then I do on all of them because some puzzles are a bit outside of my realm! Overall I think this game is worth the buy! February 11, 2014
Great deal!!! In this explosive [!] :} episode Nancy travels to lush, historic Scotland and spends most of her sleuthing in bio tech environment trying to solve the mystery of a recent death as it is potentially connected to her own mothers. Wow... BFG fishies, we all swimming in the 'pond', are very lucky to get this deal; I just paid almost $20 for this same game a month ago [DVD version]; now wish I had waited!!! BFG, you are great to be carrying ND series and so soon after release!!? I own and have played almost every Nancy Drew game and will be checking back HERE for more.... as another reviewer stated, the ND series keeps getting better and better. I will add, each mystery is unique with new spins and features to gameplay and player first-person adventure driven immersion.* Check it out... with the BFG price, you can't lose. *Oh... since there is no "trial", I will add: If you are unfamiliar with the series or adventure gaming in general as they appeared years ago, realize the game engine in this game is not the same as most of those we play here on BFG... it is more of [but not exactly] a point and click and there is little live action. Much of your gameplay is going to be challenging and solving puzzles, etc. There are no H0G but there are voiceovers. The storyline and integrity of the game itself make up for any bells and whistles and you are likely to forget they are not there. February 12, 2014
Real life learning This is one of the Nancy Drews in which what you learn is real. Some of the games or puzzles are just puzzles, but others have to do with real science, and what you learn for the sake of the game can be applied elsewhere. Well, okay, yeah, "Don't get involved with psychotic killers" is a real life lesson, but I also meant things like the difference between a capacitor and a resistor. The ending puzzle was hard--It took me multiple tries to get it. February 22, 2014
Video game incorporating Science! You can't go wrong! At first I was skeptical about this Nancy Drew game. It didn't seem to have the exotic travel element to it as previous games, but I was wrong to be worried. There was a wonderful depth to the story, and I loved learning about real scientist, Tesla. Don't forget to play all the extra stuff, like getting awards at end, finding Easter eggs and such. I got too much enjoyment messing up perfectionist Mason's desk, and then asking him why he was so mad! You'll see if you play the game. Go Nancy Drew! February 13, 2014
Excellent Nancy Drew game I have played every single Nancy Drew game and this is one of the better ones. I was actually afraid that the ND games were beginning to get less challenging since Captive Curse and Tomb of the Lost Queen were not that difficult (fun but not the usual level of difficulty). This was great. The puzzles were very clever. Plot, graphics etc were up to the usual excellent standard. PS I would not recommend heeding the one-star reviews if you are an ND fan, as these were comparing ND games with other Hidden Object games. March 3, 2014
Now THIS is an adventure game. HerInteractive Nancy Drew games are the best adventure games there are, and this one was one of their best. It is a true adventure game. No hidden object scenes, player driven, challenging, but solveable. Our entire household teens - adult enjoyed it. March 29, 2014
Fantastic Game The Deadly Device is a fascinating game. The story is interesting, as is the scientific information presented. One of the mini games - Aggregation - must be among the very best fun puzzles of all time. I did need to use the walkthrough a little, particularly for the more scientific puzzles but overall the game is straightforward and it is usually clear what has to be done next. I have played all the other Nancy Drew games and this one is one of the best! February 22, 2014
Gotta Love Nancy! Nancy Drew never disappoints! I liked the storyline and graphics in this one. I rarely had to go to the walkthroughs for assistance here. Can't wait for the next one! February 12, 2014
Love Nancy Drew Games I love these games and have done all but 2 of them and working on getting those done next. Can't believe these are rated for 10 years and above. Even with the walkthougth printed out and sitting beside me I find them challenging. This title was well done with humor injected from Ryan, the tech builder. February 26, 2014
