Rush for Gold: California
I found gold!
I loved the original Rush for Gold: Alaska so I had a feeling I would enjoy this one as well and I did. The games are very similar but then again many franchises are like that. It has two modes of game play, timed and relaxed. Also one unusual characteristic is it let you decide whether to play a male or female character.
The game play itself was fun and not overly challenging. I like games that are not too difficult myself. I think this game is ideal for children and adults like myself that enjoy a nice relaxing game.
There is gun play in the game but the characters never shoot anyone, they just shoot into the air to scare them away.

This is a pretty straight forward TM game. The main reason I purchased it is because it has an untimed option. I don't need added stress in my life trying to beat the clock. I still had fun doing all the tasks and completing each scene. I have played the entire game and, while it doesn't get noticeably more difficult, it still cost me a few hours sleep last night! LOL. There were some incongruities - such as a plane supply drop (during the gold rush? I don't think so!) but I let that pass as creative license on the part of the developers. So it wasn't exactly true to the time period...its a game! I had fun, and that's all that really matters, right?

Love Mining Gold in California!
I absolutely LOVE this game! It's so easy and so fun and so addicting - when the free demo ended my reaction was - "NO! NOT YET!". THAT is my personal "wow" factor which indicates ....... this game is a KEEPER!
This is a great game for beginners because you get instructions in every level. You need to build up the town - which is so much fun - using the stars you earn from playing the game. Playing the game is easy - you get a task list at the bottom of your screen and then just do what it says - cut down trees for wood, harvest fruit from the bushes, find places to explore, build mines and sawmills and when you complete the level, keep your stars until you earn a few or use what you earn each level by building the town (build houses, church, dig trenches, remove rubble).
Again, this game is great for beginners or anyone who likes to build. Play the relaxed mode and whenever you need some stress relief or just want to feel good, go play this game. It's a definite keeper in my book and I will be purchasing it.
I recommend everyone try this amazing game. You may just find yourself digging for gold in California too!

Rush For Gold, California
This game will not let you stop playing it. The action in this game is far better than the last in the series, more control of the game an less hang ups over having to control every thing with the mouse an such. Gold Rush Alaska is also a great game, but this one has it beat in many ways although I still play both of them at least once a day for hours on end. I love them, if that is goofy, so I am just goofy, 65 an proud to be still aliveso4 dlt, sa tx.

Great TM Game
If you liked the first "Rush for Gold", you'll probably like this one, as well. Great graphics, fun characters, and good story line. It has timed and untimed modes, which is great also, for people who want different challenge levels. I do have a problem with the cars in the opening scene, since this is the California Gold Rush, and about 40 or 50 years before there were any cars. Overall, a great, fun game!

Just too easy.
I love TM games, and this one runs well, looks and sounds great.
A lot of the levels are too short though, there are not enough levels and the whole thing is quite easy. I repeated 2 levels because I didn't get 3 stars the first time.
Need to add 'expert' levels or something else if I'm to buy from your line of games.

Just as fun as the first one, but lacking a storyline and longevity.
This game is almost exactly like the first one, and a few levels gave me a little deja vu, but there was almost no storyline. You get a list of objectives and a time limit. Now don't get me wrong. I loved playing this game, even without a storyline. It did seem to be fairly short as there are 40 levels but levels only last about 3-5 minutes. It seems like I have to wait forever for a strategy or time management game to be released and then the game only takes about 2 hours to complete. I only had to replay two levels in order to achieve a perfect score. The music and graphics are the same from the first game so it's just as cute but the only new thing was a coal shop. No sasquatch, no storms. I just expected something new and exciting from the cover photos.
