Awesome Characters But Cheesy Monsters I find this game a bit odd, but very entertaining. The characters are very well done, very lifelike, but the serpent/bat, or Cthulhu is so fake looking that he's not going to intimidate anyone! Bella has been plagued with recurrent dreams after the disappearance of her brother Stan, prompting her to begin her own search and rescue mission. She meets the dearly departed Professor responsible for releasing the Cthulhu and wreaking havoc on the town, and learns that she must fix the Professors evil actions before she can search for Stan so you enter portals hidden in separate books to continue the search after the ever not so scary Cthulhu. There are achievements to earn and hidden coins throughout the game which will allow you to purchase ancient artifacts for your trophy room. The Hidden Object scenes are slightly interactive list finds and finding the item that matches an exact picture shown. After all items have been found, the final item is displayed and when found that item is kept in the inventory. (Don't forget to collect coins in the HOS too!) Some of the mini games are one's I haven't seen and my favorite game involved butterflies. You had to click on pairs of matching butterflies as they were fluttering all around and crossing each others paths but if you clicked on the wrong one you had to start over. I loved the game, I thought the graphics were superb other than the monsters, enjoy! May 8, 2014
Better Even Than The First BASED ON DEMO FIRST IMPRESSIONS I was very pleased and surprised to see this game. The original Lost Souls game seems to have been released eons ago, and I?d never hoped to see a sequel. It was lovely and a little different but a tad childlike. This is a good following game, faithful the feel and structure of the first game, with a bit more maturity in presentation. In story terms it is an independent game, though, so you need not be familiar with ?Enchanted Paintings?. SIGHTS & SOUNDS The opening cut scenes have graphics that are very good quality, but dark and the art is inconsistent. The images of characters change enough to be distracting. Yet throughout the rest of the demo the graphics and art are wonderful. I love the initial cut scene of the library and the book that is causing all the trouble. Throughout, the art is detailed, precise and lovely, although it maintains its darker qualities. Even the HOPs are dark ? too dark for many I?d guess ? in part. Some portion of each scene will be illuminated but not all. The voices are very good, and the lips do not move in any attempt at lip synch. The music is good, nothing special, though. Plenty of ambient sounds and special effects to keep you in the mood. *grin* WHAT?S HAPPENING? Your archaeologist brother finds a rare artifact and disappears. You are having nightmares about him entering a portal, and you think you know where you can find answers. In a strange book at your brother?s (?) library. Upon attempting to open it, you watch the medallion shatter into 5 books. You enter the first one, The Call Of Cthulhu. Which, you soon discover, is about a tentacled monstrosity terrorising the town of Innsmouth. This is my favourite game storyline ? entering a number of completely different locations via a book (painting, door) - but best of all, when the stories/fables are well known. I have, thanks to other games, seen Cthulhu before, but had no notion it was a well known tale. The others, though, will be recognised by all, I think. Robinson Crusoe, Jack The Ripper, The Three Musketeers, and Titanic. GAMEPLAY This is the reason I am so pleased and surprised to see this game keep to the original game structure. It was always a bit unusual. Within each world of the book, we play an interactive HOG, rather than the now more popular HOPA. But this is not all about HOPs. Each 'book' has several smaller locations for you to travel in, at your choice for the most part, although an announcement will be made if you have completed the tasks in that sub-locale. Inside each of these, you sometimes find a couple of rooms as well, so the structure of the game has a vertical, pyramid-like feel to it. In these locations, you will need to find certain items, by finding them lying around, getting them as a gift or reward from a character, on completion of a fairly simple puzzle, or as a result of a HOP. The HOPs are both interactive word lists and picture lists. Each is visited twice, once for each type. They are fairly tricky, because the lighting is restricted to only part of the scene. My advice, when stuck, look up ? all the really difficult to see items seem to hang out together up there in the shadows! Each book is self-contained, but you do have a map which you need to travel to the locations, and which gives you the number of items still needed to be found in there. There is a directional hint and a notebook to help. And two degrees of difficulty. Fair enough, too, because this is not a game that could ever appeal to the ?make it harder? players. Gradually, you work your way around the locales until you have found and used all the items. You then receive the portion of the medallion for that book and move on. CE BLING! Don?t really know a thing about this, as it is all locked up. BUT. The 5th book ? Titanic ? is locked. Does this mean this world will only be offered in the CE? I fear so, and because there are 5 pieces of the medallion, that means the game will not be completed unless you have the CE. Not just that the story won?t be as satisfying. That the whole darned game will be incomplete! A truly heinous crime by the developers and Big Fish if true. There are achievements of the performance kind, displayed in a cabinet in your ?trophy room?. As well, you can buy trophies (souvenirs) with the gold coins you find everywhere, including in HOPs. COMBINED IMPACT I dislike the fact that I can?t see a sample of the CE extras, but it?s a beautiful game and I imagine the art will be too. I REALLY dislike the idea that the SE may not be enough to finish the game (for the 2nd time this week!?). However, it is a great game, a bit different, a little light weight, and so I willing to wait for someone to complete the game to decide if I will buy it as SE, CE or not at all as a protest. I (hope I) recommend this game! May 8, 2014
Awesome like its predecessor! If you are anything like me, you've been wandering around trying to find a game that won't bore you to tears within 10 minutes! This game's mechanics is very much like Lost Souls: Enchanted Paintings (also an awesome game!) where you have to clear the dust off of the front cover of a book instead of a painting. I haven't delved too far into the game yet, played for 20 minutes and had to buy it - it's great, I paid full price for it but would willingly do so again. Just wonderful! Excellent graphics, lovely world (so far) and nice characters. There is voiceover but the lips don't move at all. In the 20 minutes I played only 1 HOS which is great because I don't really enjoy them, they are a means to an end to find objects for inventory. Of the CE extras - you collect coins to buy collectibles (called 'trophies' in the game - from the different worlds you travel to - for example Jack the Ripper's diary among other things. The other CE extras are locked until you complete the main game so I haven't seen those yet but no biggie because I rarely look at artwork or soundtracks and things. Just have a trial run and I bet you buy the same as me! May 8, 2014
Lost Souls is a treasure to keep! I was totally blown away by the graphics, artwork and animations. I find myself enthralled with the music as I am a huge fan of Lost Souls from Dallas. This is surprisingly a fun and addicting HO game. I love it and after playing for only 5 minutes I knew this had to be part of my collection. All I can say is that this is one of the best games to come our way in quite some time. A very well composed HOPA game with excellent puzzles to solve, innovative and challenging Hidden Object scenes that require interactions with items and really cool, but not so hard mini-games, all combined to creating not only an entertaining gaming experience, but also challenging, not to mention having that WOW factor that we all look forward to. Highly recommended - and do give their other games a try, too, if you haven't already! May 9, 2014

Awesome fun Game! Unique Storyline I played demo and bought immediately. I will let others describe the unique storyline. I enjoy the beautiful clear graphics, The voices are done well, the characters animation, hidden object screens fun, adventure with gorgeous map. I don't care the places are already on map before I get there, it doesn't affect game play. Please don't listen to negative reviews try this game and I hope you agree you enjoy it the way I do so you will encourage more games like this from developer. May 9, 2014
Quirky, fun, absorbing game. One of the best games I've played. I realise I nearly always disagree with the majority of the reviews posted here. Not sure why. I'm really fed up with the supernatural games etc.. This seemed to incorporate everything that I like. Different locations in different times with a mixture of fact and fiction and no little creature to help me. Liked most of the mini games and loved collecting the coins to buy items that were seen in the game. What else did I like. Oh yes the accents actually made me laugh out loud and I'm not sure if that was intentional but I enjoyed it. I will now try the other games in this series. Please give it a try. May 12, 2014
This game is: Good Replay, Original, Kid Friendly, Addictive. This is one of the nicest hidden objects games I've played. The graphics are lovely, the puzzles are very good, and the story is interesting. The Hidden Object scenes are pretty nice and there are definitely enough of them. The combination of puzzles, tasks and HO scenes is just perfect in my opinion with none out weighing the other. Moving around to different areas to complete tasks is very easy without a lot of unnecessary clicking back, back, back, like a lot of games and the conversations with the characters are short and to the point. LOVE THIS ONE!! GREAT GAME Hi gamers. I now have a new favorite game, this one. I haven't had a new one since "Cursery the crooked man", so it's been a while. If I remember correctly, there hasn't been a lost souls game in quite some time. This one is great all around, voice overs, story line, graphics, music all top notch. My only complaint is that it didn't last longer. The mini games are easy, but fun. I never talk about the story line in reviews because, well for me anyway, it kind of ruins it. I will say this though. I love anything "art project" in a game, putting together stained glass pieces, painting etc. I am a patchouli wearing, jewelry making hippie so it makes sense, right? LOL This game had a few so I'm smiling. This is so worth the buy or at the very least the one hour free. Happy Gaming!! May 18, 2014
RELAXING SUMMARY: This is a relaxing, somewhat linear game in that certain tasks in a scene will not appear until a puzzle is completed. Not an overabundance of HOS or puzzles or mini-games, none of which are difficult. If you need a challenge, this isn't the game for you. And unlike many games where you have to find someone, you don't have that sense of having to hurry. Game provides a nice afternoon of pleasant, relaxing gameplay. As for the game: First, we can't find out from the demo what the extras are. We do know that we collect coins to buy trophies and that there is a bonus chapter, and the usual items such as wallpapers. If that's all there is, it's not worthy of a CE price. Second, you have 5 books to explore, starting with the Call of Cthulhu. You find that you have to help a professor save the town he has endangered. GAMEPLAY: You have 2 modes of difficulty; logical story and relaxing gameplay with easy-going music; tasks assigned; transport map; and at least in casual mode, the game will tell you there is nothing left to do in the scene and to check the map. Although the game is nonlinear, there are some tasks that must be completed before others will appear in the same area. [Ex: the desk in the house in the first scene has no actions available until after you open a safe.] HOS are of 2 types, both are moderately crowded and are almost monochrome. The HOS are either list-based or pictures of objects to find. Puzzles are fairly easy to complete, but you may have to find pieces in another area to complete them. But it's effortless since you have the fast-travel map. June 3, 2014
