Cool and long detective story
It is the longest detective game that I had to play. The graphics and music are at an excellent level. Intrigue maintained until the end of story.

Better than Expected!
I'm surprised this Game got some bad reviews, since there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. The Story line is great, the Graphics are creepy which I love. I definitely recommend you give it a go!

Long Fun Game
I really liked this game as it was long and had many different puzzles and HOGS. Story line was interesting too. I really liked the map on this game as it made it easier to get to scenes where there was some activity to do.

Great game, almost as long as an SE.
it was a good storyline, well done. HOS were darker than I liked, definitions were really odd, but it was a great game. the map helped a lot. Graphics were good, all in all, well done!

A Case Of Revenge?
Hope Lake has huge potential for a Standard Edition Game (and price). The graphics are good, and the story is kind of like a dangling carrot that keeps you playing the game just to gather a bit more information about Peter and Louise Braun and the evil treatment she inflicted on the children at Lake Hope Boarding School. A cloaked figure is responsible for the brutal abductions of the former students of the boarding school, could this be the work of Louise Braun, didn't she drown several years ago in a boating accident? Sheriff Bill Cooper has assigned Detective Kelly Wells to investigate these strange abductions, and as she searches for clues at the abandoned boarding house, motives become clear!
This game also promises 6 hours of gameplay with 18 hidden object scenes and 26 mini games which are mostly in the form of simple puzzles such as turning disc rings to allow a completed line or circuit to go from start to finish, or sliding animal tokens around on a square grid until the animal is in the correct environment such as a fish in a stream and a bat in the night sky. The Hidden Object Scenes are repeated a couple of times in the same area, they are interactive list finds and the scenes are on the darker side which can make it difficult to recognize some items. Hint: there is a flashlight you retrieve out of your car which can also be used in the HOS that may help. I do have a couple of complaints, some of the listed items are way off base, a sphere is a pool ball and a jar is actually an empty half crushed cola can just to name a few so think outside of the box if you can't find an item. There were also a few glitches where it seemed as if the game were skipping or freezing for a split second but it could have been my computer, or perhaps Louise. I also noticed that you have to be fairly precise where you place the inventory items, if too far off the item is rejected so if you think an item should be used there but it bounces back, try again exactly where the gears are turning.
This game isn't going to knock your socks off, there are no collectibles, no morphs, you are armed only with a briefcase for evidence (technically you "collect" evidence) a flashlight and a jump map. What you will get is an entertaining game that will hold your interest, at a Standard Edition price, enjoy!

I played only the demo so my rating is based on that. Music isn't loud and intrusive, same track over and over. The hint button sort of floats when used. You will understand better once you try. Challenge games are easy, instructions easy to follow. Story line, cut scenes are there but not long and there is a skip button. The only thing I noticed is I could not play full screen because some of the hidden items were off the side of the game screen. I did use the hint to find some items and found using the flashlight did help when looking for hidden items. This is a great game for beginners. Map included if you need to find out where you are and where possible action is needed.

What has happened at Hope Lake?
I am reviewing this game for what it is: a simple SE with no frills attached. As a detective assigned to catch a serial killer, you find yourself at an abandoned boarding school where strange things have happened in the past. The game has an interactive jump map, 2 modes of play, a journal which lists your notes and tasks. You do get a flashlight to help out in the darker areas. This is a dark natured game and I found the dimness appropriate. There IS a click penalty for rapid clicking... I really dislike that. The puzzles, to me, were odd, in that I didn't quite understand what they wanted the player to do. I had no problem located objects in the HOS. There is quite a bit of adventure in the game. You do get sparkles in both modes and hints. It's an easy game, but I'm a sucker for dark, creepy games. I am interested enough after playing the demo to want to find out what happened and who the cloaked figure is. I had no tech problems. There is a very small delay when you change screens, but it isn't horrendous. I think this developer, if this is their first effort, did a good job on this. I would have liked more story, but perhaps that is learned along the way. I do recommend
