Loving Build-A-Lot 2 I loved the first edition so much that I bought the game, and this one is just as good although I don't see anything different other than the fact that the housing additions are in different locations with an Egyptian theme. I do suggest that you start with the tutorial even if you are a seasoned Time Management player simply because this game is a bit different that the usual house themed TM games. Naturally there are goals given for each level such as building 3 farmhouses or upgrading colonial houses. The goal here is actually to buy AND sell houses for a profit. Some of the houses are owned by other people and when they put them up for sale you can purchase that house for the asking price, if there are a lot of houses up for sale or several of the same kind of house for sale at the same time you can lowball the asking price as well. You also have to make sure that the neighborhood is appealing (as indicated by a smiley face) to achieve this you must paint the houses and you can choose the colors, green, blue, purple, red orange and pink. To make more money on rent you can upgrade the house to 1-3 upgrade. All of this construction requires materials which you have to buy frequently and employees will cost a salary as well. There are diners, cemeteries cabins, colonial houses farmhouses and more to choose from and you have to manage your cash flow by selling houses and knowing what houses to build and sometimes you need to demolish building and add different buildings in order to meet your goals. If you finish the level quickly enough, you will earn ribbons, any level can be restarted or re-played to finish the level faster or do things differently. I love the fact that the buildings are more realistic than most games and that you can paint the houses with bright colors for more of an appeal, enjoy! June 18, 2014
Waiting for This Game and Not Disappointed! If you've played the other Build-a-Lot games and enjoyed playing them, you will enjoy this one as well. I was not disappointed. While there is not much new, I've always loved these games. They have added something new. You will find items throughout the game as you play. I don't know what they're for, but I'm looking forward to finding out. As usual, not much of a storyline (who cares, smile). You build houses, upgrade them and build other supporting buildings along the way. The graphics are always good. Sound is always optional for me. I leave it on when playing B-A-L games because it helps me moving faster throughout the game. I only played 4-levels before I decided that I had to purchase the game. I looking forward to what other surprises might be waiting for me throughout the game play. If you have never played BAL games, this is a good one to start with. Enjoy!! June 18, 2014
Best of the Lots! I'm too lazy to detail all the additions they've made to this game, so you'll just have to see for yourselves. I buy these games for my grandkids, but I got caught up in this series myself ;o) The graphics are also improved. Plus, it's challenging even during the first hour of gameplay. Highly recommend, & I'm not easily pleased - at least by most games. June 24, 2014
Fantastic Game! I must admit, I found Mysteries 1 a little better because it was a little harder. On the other hand, maybe it just seemed easier because I've gotten more skilled! Not a game for someone looking for something easy that doesn't require much thought. Certainly not a game designed for people who don't like timed games. In fact, I don't understand why people who don't like timed games would even bother. I surely don't understand why someone would write a negative review which only reaffirms that they don't like timed games! Action is smooth and fast, graphics are great. I am only an average player, so my first attempt was to figure out exactly what I needed to do. Then there would be at least 2 or 3 attempts to pick up my speed. You need to have your strategy in mind, as there is no time to think about it! The forty levels provided me with hours of game play. July 5, 2014
Five Star Game! This game has been challenging for me and that's why I love it so much. All of the different type of houses take different amounts of cash and supplies to build. The trick is to build the right type of houses and structures to accomplish your goal. And you have to do it before time runs out. I am a beginner at this type of game so I usually have to play a level twice before I get it right. But it sure feels great when I accomplish the goals! I love the slightly creepy feel of this game. Very fun! September 21, 2014
I always enjoy of Build-a-lot Build-a-lot games are really fun and i specially love the mysteries 1 and 2, this is a really fun game and i can play all day, is really a good one! October 9, 2014
Good game, but harder as you go along. It is good, but I have played & completed the 1st 20 levels casual no problem. I then decided to try the expert levels, & got as far as level 23, & I am now not able to continue the game as the lock is blocking the levels. I do not know why, & it does not explain why, so a wasted credit when you cannot go any further. Unless anyone knows the answer, I will be still trying to play this game when the next edition is made. Quit good, but frustrating as well... July 29, 2014
You typical BAL Game I own and played all of them, this one is a typical BAL Game. If you like this kind of Games, you should get it. June 18, 2014
level 12 Already stuck on level 12, played it twice..if anyone has any hints, please share! June 21, 2014
Guess I need to play more of these. I have never played one of this type of game before and I just don't get the appeal. You have to buy land or houses, build on land or upgrade houses, collect the rents and make money to meet goals set. This one has a story running alongside and a woman 'barks' instructions at you every so often and refuses to explain why she leaves her discarded arm bandages lying around the place. This is the 'mystery' I suppose but I don't really care. The music is horrible and the graphics flat. I spent the second level trying to work out the difference between a 'colonial' and a 'victorian'! The levels are timed so there is no 'relaxation' involved and that is why I play games; to relax! If you enjoy these games then the added mystery may bring something extra to the game for you. But it is not for me, so I will not be purchasing today. If this is a new genre for you, then give it a try, you may have found a whole new area of enjoyment. June 18, 2014
