Haunted House? Ghosts? Things that go bump in the Night? Or a Hoax? Storyline: Abraham Shadowy, a mechanical engineer, has purchased an old hotel. Little did the townspeople know it would turn into a huge success. Shadowy played upon the hotel's ancient history and promised guests that they would see "real ghosts". But, people started disappearing. And you were called in by your friend, James, to help investigate the cause. Is there something sinister afoot? Or is it all smoke and mirrors? Play the game to find out. Graphics: Although the colors were amazing, everything appropriate to the creepiness of each room, I was a bit disappointed. During the opening scene, we had major lip syncing, however, during the game that stopped. Then, you just had the characters standing, sitting, kneeling, whatever, and talking (through their nose? ears? fingers?). I absolutely dislike when a game starts with such promise and then regresses. Sound: Pretty good, I must say. Not great, but pretty good. The appropriate squeaks, crashes, booms, wails, etc. as appropriate for each situation. The music from the gramophone was non-existent as something came out of it. Hmmm. That could have been improved upon. If there was any background music, sorry, I had the volume turned down. Game Play: It was very interesting that you started out with a "light source" amulet looking thing but by the end of the demo it was still not completely put together. There was a LOT of back and forthing but very worth it. In every room you came to, you established if the spookiness and hauntedness of the Hotel was real or fake. Not gonna say - you have to play the demo at least. The hint button takes a bit to recharge. It is extremely helpful, however, in that it will also transport you to the room you need to go to next. There is a diary, but as far as I could tell, didn't retain clues, just the same notes, pieces of paper you found. Redundant. There is a map in the form of a compass which is transportable and tells you where an active area is and where there is not. I don't know if it indicates when an area is finished because you do go back and forth a lot. HOGs: Pretty standard stuff. List of items to find with some interaction but not a lot. Very easy to find the items you need. Had no problems whatsoever. Mini Games: Scattered here and about. I did not have to skip any and found them all relatively easy, although sometimes it did take a bit to figure out exactly what to do. So, there you have it. This Glam-ma enjoyed the game. Didn't use the hint button to transport me about - I thought that was too much like cheating. Although the map made it a little too easy as well. I was intrigued by the game. What will we find out in the end? Is the hotel really haunted? Or is this some ploy with a more sinister end? This Glam-ma has already purchased the CE version of the game and can't wait to find out. Great Game The game was fast paced yet a little challenging. I liked that you can use the map and click where you need to go instead of trying to backtrack across the whole map. I like that it notifies you where you need to go when you have something to do instead of guessing when you have 2 pages of inventory to use. Overall fun and engaging. June 29, 2014
Check into the Haunted Hotel! I just bought the game and I am so glad I did. This teaches me that even when I am not overly impressed with the trial maybe it is just my mood that day. It is really well-done on the graphics and artwork, I like the way it smoothly transitions from one area to another I understand it is part of a 'set' - so I will get the other sequels in the Haunted Hotel. Way! July 26, 2014
Great Game - Go for CE I loved this game so much I wish I had gone for the CE. The graphics are great, the people aren't overly chatty, the story is interesting, and THERE IS A MAP...a deal breaker for me. July 9, 2014

THE GHOST ARE COMING..... WILL YOU BE NEXT?? I loved this game I just bought it yesterday. I think I tried it on a beta sample a while back. Beautiful real life graphics, eerie sound effects makes you stay in time for Halloween! The fall season outside, which is my favorite season besides winter is very warm cozy. Beautiful hotel dcor with haunted rooms full of surprises. Don't let the ghosts eerie sounds scare you away, they want you gone! Make sure you have your volume up on your speakers, they will touch you in your very home. Help find out what happened, these guest including a girl has mysteriously disappeared and they need your detective work. Solve this ghost story! BTW, I liked the fall scenery so much. I'll stay outside a bit, hearing the crickets by the bench while the leaves blow in the wind! June 29, 2014

Good game! Just finished; game is long!!!!!! Lots of back and forth, doors and rooms open everywhere!! You would not believe; so many rooms!! There is a good interactive map that is useful; however, the rooms are not laid out exactly as they should be. I think that was done to make rooms even harder to find. There is so much inventory, so many pieces of items that must be put together before use. I had items that I knew where they went, but couldn't find the rooms that they went in!! Graphics, beautiful. HOs, not bad. Puzzles, some a little difficult, but not bad! You get your money's worth on this one. I enjoyed it!!! November 12, 2014
Great Game! This game was fun. It was not the most complex but it offered many different scenes. I enjoyed the visuals, HOS and puzzles. It even seemed as if our friend James took a back seat in this game and became less annoying. June 29, 2014

Haunted Hotel: Ancient Bane

Guests keep disappearing from a gimmicky haunted hotel. Is there someone pulling the strings, or are these ghosts actually real?
