Pirates of Black Cove: Sink 'Em All!
A Sinking Pirate Ship Game
It takes a while to get the hang of controlling ye pirate ship with ye keyboard keys, but once ye do, ye will rule the sea (and ye gold!) The objective is clear, protect ye gold by sinking everything else including that ship sinking slimy tentacled Kraken! You will have to use your keyboard controls, the up arrow moves your pirate ship forward and of course the right and left arrows change the direction. The space bar will deploy your weapons so wear it out. There are two modes of difficulty, normal and hard and there are 4 chapters, Runway of the Caribbean, Gold Gold Mountain, 727 Degrees, and Sweet and Sour, there are 6 levels in each chapter plus a Treasure Chest chapter bonus. You can buy weapon kits with ye plundered gold which have mortars, nets, honing missiles, catapults, mine barrels, cluster bombs, floating turrets, vortex mines, fartbombs, and harpoons, so this game can only get more interesting as ye progress, enjoy!

A lot of fun
What a great little game! I am really enjoying it. Purchased it after about 5 mins of play and do not regret it. The graphics and sounds are great. No qualms here about keyboard controls. It is quite easy to navigate and shoot at the same time. The up arrow is always the button for moving forward no matter which way your ship is facing. The same rule applies for the other directional arrows - the ship's left, right and down movements are always the left, right and down arrows. Can be a little confusing at first, but once you get used to this you will have no problems at all. Give this game a try, and be patient with yourself. It really is fun, and I am enjoying it immensely.

Keyboard controls? You decide.
I made it through one level and deleted the game. I will rate it as a possibly good game, although I will never know, because of the retro style keyboard controls with no mouse input. This game reminds me of WfW 3.11 when you needed a mouse to start it, but my mouse hung over the back of my desk and never was used. I only used DOS commands. Now I have finally accepted a mouse and this game does not use a mouse. Should I relearn how to use arrow key movements and spacebar shooting? I decided no, but maybe others will be glad to go back a couple of decades to keyboard controls. You decide

It's fun for the first 3 levels while you're doing the tutorial because you keep thinking there's going to be more they're going to show you, but you eventually realise it's just the first level that actually taught you anything, from there on it's just rinse and repeat through every level.
Most unfortunate, I really got excited when I saw the initial screenshots

These kind of games are hit or miss for me. The graphics were cute, and the sounds was fine. I just couldn't come to terms with keyboard controls that seemed backwards to me. Not sure if you can customize controls, but there wasn't enough in the game to make me spend time trying.

Boring and clunky
The game uses keyboard controls. Is this from the 1980s? After a few minutes, I stopped playing in disgust.

I am totally puzzled, why make a computer game in 2014 where you only use the keyboard? I just don't get it!
I uninstalled the game without even trying it, when I saw it was only controlled by the keyboard. My keyboard is "hidden" beneath my desk and I would in reality not be able to play this game.
And I really wanted to try this one. I normally love "shot 'em" games. Too bad!

Sorry. A game that requires keyboards ONLY to control it should not be something that requires money to play or purchase. But even if it was free, I would still not play it because it's boring, not fun, stupid, and aggravating.
