PuppetShow: Lightning Strikes Collector's Edition 3.2 5 114 114
Lightning Almost Struck Home Here. I Liked It A Lot! GAME AND BONUS I can't really say much about the previous PuppetShow games, because I only tried one which I gave up on when dolls' heads ran amok on mechanical spider limbs when I was extremely arachnophobic and scared of 'Chucky' at the time. I decided to be brave and bought this sight unseen and I'm not sorry I did. I really enjoyed it. I thought the graphics were great, the voiceovers always well done by ERS (even if there's no lip movement) and a fairly good story, well wound up in the main game. ERS seem to have listened to most gamers who have fallen out of love with animal helpers, fairytales and cuteness and instead created somewhat of a Steampunk game. The 30 achievements are divided into 3 groups of 10 each. The first page is self-explanatory, the second page you can guess at as you are playing the game and the third are secret achievements. I quite like that angle. HOS were either lists or silhouettes, both with interactions. None of the HOS or puzzles were particularly difficult. The 42 piggy bank collectibles are easy to spot and both they and achievements carry over into the bonus which, as usual, is related but separate to a good main ending. The coins you earn from your piggies are used to restore two well known landmarks to their former glory, and you can have some extra fun with the second landmark! Apart from the usual wallpapers etc, there's not much more than stated above to the CE. You can replay HOS or Puzzles, but there are no extra stars to gain and there is no alternative play to HOS scenes throughout. This is not a terribly long game. I finished the main one in just over 4 hours and the bonus in less than 1 hour, but I found it a lot of fun along the way. And I'll leave gamers who've played the whole lot through to the very end to decide if there'll be another PuppetShow. August 21, 2014
Over The Top? I guess I don't feel the same as the rest of the crowd, this game just didn't move me the way it obviously did for the majority of reviewers. It's a solid game, but I've never been a fan of the "mechanical" based games, furthermore I did like the other Puppet games better than this one. You are a well traveled explorer and detective investigating the disappearance of women, all with similar features, reports that a strange lightning phenomena strikes and turns the victims into puppets! There are a whole lot of features presented in this game, some items you need to find are shown on the top of the screen such as arrows, fuses, poster pieces and even your map, diary and inventory "fan" need to be found to start your investigation. The Achievement icon can be quickly accessed on the left of the screen and an icon for Patrons of Art on the right where you find piggy banks with coins to purchase the remodeling items of the Eiffel Tower and park and eventually the Statue of Liberty. You also have a case file to examine the evidence you collect during your investigation. The Hidden Object Scenes are varied but I liked the one where you had to find items that relate to similar words as the Parisian Police officer, Froissart goes over the case with you. You can switch to a picture list at anytime if you can't make the connection. Mini games were mostly puzzles such as rotating and correctly placing poster pieces or swapping books until a complete picture is formed on the spines of the book. This Collector's Edition comes with collectible piggy banks, mini games, achievements, concept art, wallpapers, screensavers, music, movies, HOP. mini games, a bonus game and a built in strategy guide, enjoy! Another Great PuppetShow Chapter I have loved all of these games. They are fun, easy to get through without pulling your hair out and the pace moves nicely. My only complaint with this chapter was the lack of SPELL CHECK! Half of the dialog was either out of order, didn't make sense or was just a result of language barriers. This review is not meant to be hurtful or rude, just something I noticed while reading the dialog texts at the top of the screen. August 23, 2014
Would've been 5 Stars, But... I loved all of the other games in this series and was pleasantly surprised to see another installment this morning. While the graphics and storyline were perfectly fine, I was too distracted by the top of the screen showing me pictures or a list of words of things I needed to find in every location. Maybe a newer player would've found this enjoyable, but I like to find things on my own, without being told or shown what to look for. If it was for an H.O. scene, I wouldn't mind, but once I arrived at every new location, it would pop up. If anyone knows a way to turn it off I would appreciate it if you would let me know. Otherwise, I won't be buying this one due to the distraction, which is a shame. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the other games and won't mind the distraction. August 21, 2014
a lot of fun to play I think the hidden object puzzle could be like the other puppetshow's hidden object puzzle. I have all five games and like them very much , I have played them at least three times at each skill level. September 19, 2014
Puppet Show Lightening Strikes Collectors Edition Where did this imposter come from?. Not at all like original previous Puppet Shows feel slighted cheated cos they are one of my favourite series. Don't get me wrong great game, top notch, but lacking somewhat of the quirkiness and origanalty of the first five. Even the music changed. August 23, 2014
Puppetshow With A New Twist I like ERS games and a bit upset when it's a bit different from the other puppetshow since we now have magic and other stuff added into it August 28, 2014
Lightening never strikes twice, or does it? Love this game! There is a strange storm in Paris, and every time lightening strikes a girl is turned into a puppet. Your sent there to unwrap the mystery. In this collectors edition there are: 13 mini games 9 hidden object (little piggy banks that give you coins) 6 wallpapers 16 concept art 3 really cool screen savers 8 movies 4 tracks of music diary achievements task button and a jump map There are 3 options:casual, advanced, and hard Hos are very easy. Things like finding the arrows to shoot the eye out of the octopus, and finding objects in a story. I definitely recommend this game! I will be adding this one to my collection! Happy gaming!!! A bit slow and boring... This is sad to say, but ERS games were my favorite and now I have other games NOT by them that are more exciting and keep me more interested... both with music, gameplay and more things to find... last ERS game I just couldnt even get myself to buy... they are losing their rank as others are getting better... I found this a bit slow going and started getting bored.... wasnt much to keep me interested..... August 24, 2014
Almost Perfect I don't give 5 stars often and did at 1st until I had to mark challenge and story only a 4 so I changed to a 4 which should add up to 4 1/2. Love the Puppetshow series, and even though this one's story is different, it's still the nasty puppets gone awry. Game was Fun, lots of things to do. Visual is excellent with beautiful artwork and sound is excellent, maybe a little talkative, but the story needs to be told and you're not left in the dark to know what's going on. Challenge is not difficult and mostly pretty easy with different HOs and simple puzzles, which I like as I do not enjoy puzzles; just want to get them over with. Storyline is very good, not real different, but it is interesting. I knew I'd like this one and I did, couldn't buy it quick enough and can't wait to get back to it. This one is a keeper!
