Frustrating not fun! This game is awful. Like 99% of the other reviewers, I got stuck almost immediately. No clues, no hints, no help whatsoever. I've played several of these types of games before and loved them. This one doesn't give a hint at what is expected to solve some (all) of the puzzles. A few reviewers mentioned having patience with this game...any game that causes this much frustration has nothing to do with patience and certainly nothing to do with fun. It should have been called "Return to Sender" because that's what I'd like to do with it! September 9, 2012
A disappointing game Maybe I have played too many awesome games, but one thing I find very frustrating is when games continue to take you back to the same HO area and ask you to find the same objects as the previous time. I think this is lazy game making. I did not buy this game because I was already put off with the demo. The graphics were good, but for me there were too many HO and not enough creativity in the mini games, etc. June 15, 2012
My Favorite Game! This is one of my all time favorite games and really got me hooking on casual gaming. The story line is intriguing and the art is so detailed. The story is a bit creepy, but not horrific. I love all the twists and turns and the maze to get around. This is totally worth the money - it offers a lot of enjoyment and you will want to replay it about once a year or so - I do anyways. November 11, 2011
What happened in Blackpool should have stayed in Blackpool I couldn?t remember if I liked this game as it as been almost 2 years since I first played it. So, I played again today and found that I really don?t like it. The graphics are better than Ravenhearst, but there are still grainy, unclear HOScenes that really strain my eyes. By the end of the game my eyes were burning and incredibly tired. I liked only a few of the puzzles in this game. But, perhaps one of the reasons for that is that there is no help feature in the puzzles. Your only options are to exit the game and try to find help in a forum or skip the puzzle. I could have finished all of the puzzles if there had been a hint feature nudging me in the right direction. I know this because I did exit the game a couple of times and found a solution. I was very close each time, but just needed a little more info to figure out not the solution, but how the game was to be played. The hint feature in the HOScenes was horrible. It took 5 minutes for it to reload. FIVE minutes of sitting and waiting for it to reload so that I could use it again for something else too blurry to be recognizable. I actually found my stepladder and changed a burned out light bulb in less time that it took for the hint to reload. The hint feature in the regular game play was also sorely lacking. If you ?showed? it an inventory item it would give you a snapshot of where that item is used. No text, just a picture. The item I tried this on was used in an area of the game that I hadn?t yet received access to so this was a total waste. Then I had to wait 5 minutes for the hint to reload. There was no hint feature that helped you when you needed to know what to do next. Again, if you were stuck you had to exit the game and try to find someone?s forum or walkthrough. The soundtrack was OK, but I did have to mute it couple of times as it was getting on my nerves. The storyline was OK, but nothing exceptional. On the whole a wasted purchase for me. Awesome !! The Best Game I've ever played !! Perfect from beginning to end ! Anxiously waiting for "Mystery Case Files: Escape from Ravenhearst? CE" Mac version December 25, 2011
Arghhhhhhhh I downloaded the trial for this game - as I always do before I buy it - hoping for an interesting game along the lines of Awakening or Drawn. I was sorely disappointed. Time after time, I got pulled into these elaborate object searches that annoyed me immensely. They cut into the storyline and interrupted the flow of the game. I was asked to find things from 'bow' to 'french curve', and if I didn't know what a french curve actually was, too bad! If you like the I SPY books, you'll love this game. Because that's all this really is. Thank goodness I didn't buy the game, it was an utter disappointment. July 28, 2012
All Time Favorite Game was fun and challenging. Graphics were great. The HO were clear and true. This game gives you several hours of the best game play available. November 27, 2011
Bad game The HOS in this game are obscure, and the hint button not only takes forever to charge, it shows a very large area that you still have to search through. There are no hints, maps, etc. to help you, as well as no instructions on puzzles. The skip button is fairly fast charging though. The story is dumb. The music is annoying. I found this whole game to be annoying as a matter of fact, and not fun at all. March 24, 2012
Will stretch a dollar in a positive way! If people want to make $6.99 last, this game will do it. This game takes up time with hidden objects, but some puzzles as well. It's not just that, but there's a lot of backtracking involved... and this time it is NOT filler! It is the STRUCTURE and LAYOUT of Ravenhurst mansion, making objects you collect later on leading back to the beginning of a well. Also are objects that you can click on, that have animation, but no effect on the game can confuse the player even more, thinking something has been triggered, but really hasn't. It is up to you to figure out what works and what doesn't. Some statues talk, others don't. Again, it adds to the curiousity and surprise of the adventure. The guest house you cannot access at first sight will be accessible later... once you appreciate the mapping of this adventure. The randomness of puzzle solutions and location of jeweled hearts, not to mention the haunting sounds of twin daughters voices in the background, only intensify the amount of time taken in one scene. Big Fish put A LOT of work into this... and this has proven it. This return to Ravenhearst is Collector Edition quality, even if it really isn't. With me taking over 20+ hours to complete, members will get their bang for their bucks... guaranteed! February 12, 2012
One of the best games! This is the type of game I would like to play all the time. Very good story. Good graphics and sound. The HOS are clear. Loooong game! There is so much to do, much to look for. I must confess, I was happy that there is a walkthrough....;-) The mini-games are sometimes very challenging. There is no map, so prepare yourself to walk and walk... But it's never irritating or boring. I can't find anything negative, so.... enjoy!!! January 16, 2012
