Won't play in Career mode on Windows 7 Computers This was a game I returned to again and again. Although it was not especially callenging, I liked learning about the different wines and wine growing regions of the world. I especially liked playing in career mode as I enjoy working towards goals. Then I upgraded to a newer computer. Now I can only play in the money makin mode and it is not nearly as fun. This is a great disappointment to me and I understand from reading the forums that I am not alone. I have found that complaints go back 2 - 3 years and yet there are no patches available to correct this problem February 26, 2013
Nice game, but not as good as similar After playing "Chocolatier: Decadence by Design" I was itching for a similar game. I thought this game would be it. The challenge level just wasn't up to par - everything was pretty easy, with a lot of hints and quick game play. It didn't take a very long time to get through the whole game. Fun, but a little disappointing. June 13, 2012
Relax with a glass of wine... Very relaxing game that teaches you about the making of wines from around the world. I had no idea so many different types of grapes existed. Very fun and informative game. November 11, 2011
Relaxing Game and Fun to Play This is one of the games that I return to time after time. It's easy to play and has a nice story line that works itself into the winning the game. I always enjoy the quests and the arcade style feature for making the wine. If you like games based on trading and fulfilling requests for your products and traveling the world, then this is the game for you. There's great music for each city that you visit, and you even learn about the grapes used in making the wines. There is no time limit; you can play at your own pace. January 1, 2012
Enjoyable But A Bit Too Easy Winemaker Extraordinaire is a business strategy game in the vein of the Chocolatier series where, instead of focusing on time management tasks (like the ?Dash? series), players must balance buying ingredients, producing and selling products, and filling orders as they advance through a quest to obtain the ultimate wine recipe. To start with the basics: the game?s fun, the art?s well-crafted, and the setting is well-established. For someone looking for a game like Chocolatier this fits the bill. However, Winemaker Extraordinaire proves to be far easier than any of the Chocolatier series and game play is far shorter; I completed the game in a little under four hours including the trial time. The mini-games in particular were much easier for me as they required basic match-3 actions like linking like objects together and swapping objects to create a pattern. It?s also much easier to gain money quickly and therefore overstock your ingredients to simplify game play -- they never expire so you can keep them throughout the game if needed. The major drawback of the game for me was that it proved difficult to navigate to the correct location at times. When you want to produce a wine you can?t look up which winery you configured to make the wine in and therefore either need to write it down or hope between cities to find it. It also had the annoying habit of resets, i.e., when you sold a wine the ?shelf? of wine selections would automatically go back to the beginning even if you wanted to sell another wine next to the first one, therefore making you scroll through the selections over and over again each time you sold (or bought) multiple products. However, overall the game was very enjoyable if you?re looking for something that requires you to do some planning ahead and juggling multiple ventures without the high pressure of more time oriented games like the Tycoon series. 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. Fantasies of owning a vineyard! I get to play out my fantasies of owning a vineyard with this game! It reminds me of Chocolatier. So fun and somewhat relaxing. I wish it was a little more challenging but I find myself coming back to it year after year. The only down side is there isn't a sequel!!!! ::hint hint game developers:: June 20, 2012
Niiiiice! Nice Entrepreneur game! Loved learning about all the different wines, how their made, what to eat with them, demographics and such. November 25, 2011
Can only play free mode I was really looking forward to trying this game when it showed up on my "games you will like"... sadly I have a windows 7 machine.. as most do have 7 or better at this point. This game you can only play free mode on later systems... which has no storyline and isn't really fun since most of the time you spend figuring out wth you're doing. Seriously, unless they patch this for later computers... don't even bother unless you do the hour trial first. I didn't find free-mode very fun at all. I do however like the concept and really wish I could play career. April 29, 2013
A Good Pastime Like other reviewers that have posted, I purchased this game after being ADDICTED to the Chocolatier series. I had high hopes for this game, but found this game to be slightly above average at best. The storyline wasn't nearly as good as the Chocolatier games, but was still interesting enough to keep me playing. Being a culinary student, I have to say the best part of this game was the excellent information on various wines, grapes, and wine supplying countries around the world. A++ for that. The game was very, very, very easy...little to no challenge at all. But then again I do consider myself a hardcore gamer, and only play games such as these when I just want to past the time with something a little less stressful and challenging as C.O.D Black Ops. My husband says its one of my "Girly Nerdy Games". I have to remind him that one, I am a girl, and two, simply because I'm better at first person shooter games than he is doesn't mean he has start name calling :-) July 5, 2012
a great strategy game this game is one of my best a long with chocolatiers i like them all, two was the best for me but i still enjoyed them all this is very similar except we create wine u travel the world taking orders and making money i love games like this and it really takes time to beat well worth your money i hope their will be another game if not a second then just make a game just like these and i will keep buying them a great game. i recommend this game for the true heart of a person who wants to have a big business and learn to make money June 10, 2012
