slow and easy
This is a game that requires patience since the characters you create need time to work, marry, and in general, live their lives until sadly, they pass away. You get pretty attached to your little people and may actually get sad when they die! What is nice is that the family goes on, I have several generations of my family, and you get to choose the person you want to "inherit" the house when there is no one left in it. Sound effects are great, as is the relaxing music, which gets stuck in my head. It's just a relax, take your time game, I find rewarding to see them all "elated". Sometimes it helps to just keep the game running while you are doing other things, by the time you come back to your computer, they could have earned enough money to buy food or other things. HINT: leave your game paused if you wont be back for a long time, or they could all die! This is not a high tech, million things to do game, its just slow and easy. I hope they make a sequal to this one to get more upgrades for the house and family, maybe let them travel or something. Anyway I love this game.

Virtual Families
I adore this game...I have it on 3 computers, so have 15 families to take care of, it is the best game BF has put out and I hope they will make a part 2 with more upgrades and meeting neighbors. Everything about this game is just like a real family and those of us whose children are grown and gone, for me anyway, is like starting all over again. If you haven't tried this game it is a must and I have recommended this game to over 25 people who enjoy it as well. So, please BF ungrade this game for all of us who play it several times a day....the other virtual games are too hard and a great dissappointment to us...so I highly recommend this game for any age group! Thank You BF for giving us great games, I only wish there were more TM games, but to my misfortune I check your site every day and it's always HO gloom and doom games. We need games that put a smile on our faces especially with what's going on in our world today!

Virtual Villagers rock, but Virtual Families was so fun!
I have to say that I love this game. Yes, there could be some more upgrades and expansions, but this is just so fun. I can't wait for them to come out with a sequel that will continue to upgrade and expand. The choices are endless. You choose who you marry and how many children you get. You figure out how to solve all the problems that make the family happier, and characters change with age. If you're a family if Virtual Villagers or The Sims, then you're going to enjoy this one!

Very nice family Strategy game!
Virtual Families is similar to the Virtual Villagers series - the graphics and characters are very alike, but no village or villagers. You start by adopting someone, then help guide him or her through their life: help develop their career, choose a mate, have children, take care of themselves, their house, various living tasks, and the family. It's slow-going but soothing, and is quite challenging. Best results if you can devote time and attention to it; things can snowball out of control if you leave them for extended periods of time. Real life situations come up, which are amusing, and you have choices on decisions and what to do, It's a very nice family game, and good if you're trying to pass time.

Family You Actually Look Forward To Visiting!
When you start with your first and second generation(s) of families, it is challenging to have enough money to keep up with their needs and "wants" (they actually email you when they want something!), after that it's like sitting here watching the grass grow. LDOW needs to look at Life Quest and Path to Success for some ideas to add to a new version of this. This would be the absolute ultimate game if the player could redecorate the house and landscaping with each new generation...that would add so much. Even so, you'll love your peeps and will want to keep taking care of them!

A Great game!!
This game starts with one person who the player adopts. This person has an income and with that money, the player must wisely choose food to buy and clothes and everything else. He must also find a mate for our little person that we adopted so that they may have children and they will continue their generation. Over time these people may die and then the player can select one of their children to start the next generation. This is a fun game seeing all these virtual people grow up around us even when we are not playing...

Fabulous for teens trying to learn more about "real" life!
This is an excellent game. It teaches teens and adults too about the 20-80 rule with criticizing and praising. It also is eductional with budgeting - if you'll spend your money on extras you might not have enough for basics like food! It's also fun and a relaxing game to play when you're feeling a little down. Excellent game - keep up the good work!

3.5 although I really enjoyed it there are a few cons
I loved the sims, all the upgrades, expansion packs things to do so I know I am a bit hard on this game regards to those things. If you are a sims player you may be disappointed in the following -
cons -
-They never go out, speak to anyone, have anyone over.
-The things they can do aren't that much- work (kitchen, workshop and office) watch TV, cook, work out, play chess etc, pull weeds, water flowers etc. Even with the swimming pool it's very small and they don't change clothes!
-You don't even have to get your friendship meter up with your partner to have a baby.
-You can't decorate* the home - choose what wallpaper or carpet you want, or place things you buy in your home. It is what it is and you are stuck with it.
-There is no phone to employ a maid, gardener.
-Your family grows really fast and within (I think) 4 days my first couple were dead.
-You don't play this for long periods of time as it then gets like watching paint dry.
Now the good.
It's not the sims so as long as you don't expect that, then it's a good start. The premise of the game is 'have you ever wondered if people live in your computer, what they are up to.' So if you view this as a quick go and see how they are doing twice a day for 5 mins at a time you begin to understand how to play the game.
What is REALLY good about it is that they continue to make money and live while you are not playing so you can save up money for things at the store.
STORE - There is food that you can buy, always something on sale. There is a section that changes every 4 hrs for things you may need in the game and a section for medicines. Another section for luxury goods like treadmill, swimming pool etc. And lastly there is a choice of upgrades for your 3 work place - *new kitchen (choice of 2 preset).
There is a praising glove and a scolding glove to try and encourage behaviours. I love that concept.
There are achievements (trophies) which do pass down from generation to generation so you can accomplish them all.
Things to collect (pieces of photograph, old coins, bugs and twigs) which pop up around the grounds but do disappear if you don't collect them quickly enough.
This is a very simple game which is good for kids or if you are like me and just like to pop into a game for 5 mins it's good that it is simple. If you remember to stock up your fridge so they don't get hungry, you should have a happy family. Just don't stock up too much or you get some funky odours!
If you get this on a DD or coupon you will get a very long lasting game that keeps going as long as you want, it need never end! As long as you don't expect to sit down and play it for hours at a time or expect sims choices, I think you will enjoy it for what it is.

It's really a fun game.
I like it so much. This game has so many posibilities and options. You'll never get tired of this game. Its value is over its price. I would like to get it in hand as soon as possible and recommend this game to all the friends I know.
