PuppetShow: Mystery of Joyville
Not up to Puppet Show standards
I really enjoyed Lost Town, but this one was easier and much more HO-based, with not quite enough adventure/puzzles and challenge to suit me. The ending was also a bit un-climactic and oddly organized, particularly for such an otherwise well-done story. It wasn't a bad game at all, just not up to the standard I expected after "Lost Town."

Not up to Series Expectations
Rather disappointing compared to other Puppet show games.
?No Voice Over
?Graphics are drawn, but other Puppet Shows have better, more clear drawings..not impressed.
?Music, didn?t notice it
?LOTS of HO
?HO junk pile, small blurry items, click penality only kicks in if you go very fast...stay slow and you will not have any problems
?Puzzles, very good unfortunately some did not come with directions so you are left to figure out for yourself what to do, they do come with a skip button
?Not so much to & from, you?re prevented from leaving an area if there are tasks to do.
?Very short took me 2 hours & 15 minutes, and that included stopping to watch some music videos on TV with the hubby.
Not much more to say, not much of a game?Puppet show is a great series, this one was a disappointment.
If you love straight HO this would be great, if you want more chances to investigate and have an adventure you will not find it here.

Older game with poor fun factor
This is an older game and it was stretched and somewhat grainy on my newer machine. The music was repetitive but tolerable. There were no voice overs or atmospheric sounds.
The story is somewhat confusing and couldn't engage my attention enough for me to tell what was supposed to be going on. Your character lands in what appears to be an abandoned town and you walk around from one location to another with so little story development that I rapidly lost interest. I never met another character in the time I played the game so there was no dialogue to flesh the story out and I had so little back story I couldn't tell why I was there.
There is a lot of to and fro running around gathering inventory items that appear to have no purpose. Meanwhile, you're constantly running into obstacles that need inventory items you don't have and cannot find. When you finally do find something that works all it does is uncover a puzzle that is missing pieces you don't have so you cannot complete it.
The HOS were present in a moderate amount but were all pretty easy. They are list types with no interaction and often contained several multiples that needed to be found. This doesn't bother me but I've seen other reviewers complain about it so it seems worth mentioning. The puzzles ranged from easy to difficult but none were very engaging. To be fair this may be because I was already annoyed at having to run around finding an inventory item only to receive a puzzle instead of being able to get through the door I thought the inventory item was going to open.
The game also suffers from the "magic item" syndrome. For example, a glass panel says it wants something heavy to break it but the weights you have won't do the job. Instead you have to keep running around until you collect the "magic" rock that for some reason is the only heavy thing that can do the trick.
To top off the annoyance factor, the game's inventory is stored in this odd fan shaped structure that you have to unfold and scroll through whenever you need something. It was clunky and poorly thought out.
Overall, this is an older game with a confusing and unengaging storyline. There is so much running around for non-intuitive inventory items that I rapidly lost interest.

Just not for me
Too many HO's for me, but I'm sure if you're into that sort of thing, you'd like it.

A DELIGHT TO THOSE WHO ARECRAZY ON HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES!!!
I CANT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALL, ITS VERY WOODEN, DATED, AND ABSOLUTELY boring!
theres nothing i like about it, and this will teach me to trial a game 1st.
If you like nearly all of it, as hidden object scenes, then this is your game.
it only has the hint button for the hos games, so yr out of luck if you dont know where to go next, just revert to looking up a walkthrough.
Wasted good money only to consign it to the trash can. Trial it 1st!

Nice game but too short
While this series does offer some good artwork and atypical puzzles, they're really short. Without using hints or skips, I was inside the theater in 45 minutes. That's less than a 2 hour game for me. So no buy on this one.

Don't waste your money!
I was bored after five minutes of play. I was disappointed from the opening scene to find no voice over, only written dialog at the bottom of the screen and only still pictures of the characters. This game is nothing but Hog's with a few puzzles that are so easy they required little thought. I have never bothered to write a review before but this was so boring (I did finish it, I'd spent money on it) that I feel like I need to warn other potential players that this game could only be considered a beginner level game and not in any way challenging. If you are a gamer it is the equivalent of having seen Avatar 3D and then watching the original Mickey Mouse cartoon.

Waste of time
Basically it is just one game of repeated hidden object puzzles. There are no hint options in standard version and no real way of knowing what to do next.
I'm not wasting my time on the rest of this series. I just wish I hadn't wasted the money.
