GAME COMPLETED A COUPLE OF TIMES
First of all, you must take into account that this game was released in 2009 to appreciate just how good this game used to look. By current standards it?s pretty blah, but even on my large monitor it is still not rough enough to affect the game play.
I like all of this series because they deal with a fun concept. We are visiting a museum about a medieval kingdom when all of a sudden we are sucked into the portrait of the cursed prince, and are stranded in the House Of Stone until we can rescue the unfortunate victims and find our way back home. In each of the following games in the series we are caught up again in the kingdom?s dramas.
I?ve only been playing HOPAs for about 18 months, so I wasn?t around when they first became popular, but it seems to me that games of this vintage seem, harder than today?s. Hint button gives you hints, not instructions. Knowing where to go next can be a real mind bending exercise. I found myself using the walkthrough on more than one occasion just to get around.
Thankfully, the puzzles are for the most part fairly straightforward. I like that the HOS are of two varieties, lists and multiple items. Oh, and there is a misclick penalty.
The game also keeps track of time, and you can compare your scores. This time the game took me 2hrs 20mins, which is not long admittedly, but it was fun.
Not earth shattering stuff, but great to have the whole series, and not a bad way to spend a dull afternoon.

This game was definitely different. It took me 4 hours to play. You're given a timer when you start the game. The storyline wasn't bad, but I got this game mainly because I want to play all the games in this series. I'm thinking that they get better each time.
First, the hint button is done differently here than in other games. Rather than have different levels of difficulty which determine the speed at which the hint button refuels, this game offers you mirrors. The first one grants you 10 hints. In every HOS, there are 2 mirrors to find. Those only grant 1 hint. It doesn't really matter though because the hints are only useful for HOS. In different parts of the castle or different mini-games, the hint just tells you something about the room. If there is nothing to do, it will tell you that, but that's it. Thus, the walkthrough will become your best friend.
With this game, you really have to pay attention to the story because it gives you the clues necessary to solve things.
The voice acting was pretty cheesy. I don't know where they find their actors, but maybe some more auditions would help.
Some of the games were easy, some were hard. As I said, since the hint button doesn't really help in those situations having the walkthrough is a great asset. I don't like to use it because I like the challenge but if I have to I do. Of course, you can always skip the puzzles.
This is a short game. Just want to let you know that in advance. For me, it didn't matter because I bought all 3 games in the trilogy. This was the first stepping stone, so to speak.
Now that I've completed this game I'm really excited to start playing the next in the series.
If you're wanting to play all games in the series, then I definitely recommend. If you're just looking for a pleasant game to play for the day, you might want to skip this one unless you are okay with the short length. So I will go ahead and recommend the game, but use your own judgment.

An Ok Game!
It was an 'ok' game!...when i say that, i mean, it was not bad but maybe a little bit tedious.The graphics, especially in the hidden object scenes were horrendous! looked like a bad case of paste and copy to me (very Grainy)....could of made good use of a map too and a proper hint button to tell the player what to do next.

I enjoyed this game, but it was very difficult for me. A map would have been very helpful or even a Hint that gave you some idea of where to go next. I had to consult the walkthrough a bunch of times. I didn't like clicking on all those snakes, but I knew there were snakes when I purchased the game. Nevertheless, all things considered, I enjoyed playing. Looking forward to the sequels.

really hard game for me
i couldn't have gotten through this game without the walkthrough which i relied on almost all the way through the whole game! hints are increased by finding mirrors, but once you use all the hints they only increase by one at a time. they don't take too long though. there is a journal. i played in the only level i saw. the music on low so i didn't really hear it. there is a small click penalty but it doesn't take long. this an adventure as well as a hidden object game. i really didn't enjoy it as much as the others in the series and it is set up to continue so i hope the next one is better.

not as good as i expected..
i decided to play the whole series and started with this one. well, what can i say, i was unpleasently surprised as i was going further and further in the game. i don't know what the developers were thinking when they made the hog, because the items in them were impossible to see. gave me a headache trying to look for every objects and i'm not a hint lover. they give you plenty of extra hints in every scene just because of that.
the puzzles were quite easy, but few. the gameplay was slow and heavy because you don't know what you'll do next. there are no hints to tell you where to go and what to do, no in game guide, no map, no nothing. i still finished the game in 2 hours and 37 minutes because is incredibly short.
still, i gave 2 stars for the graphics. they are not very vibrant but they show the middle ages exactly like they are supposed to look : ancient, plenty of blue and gold tones which i absolutely loved.
when it comes about the sound, it has voice over whenever you release a person from the stone, but i had to turn th music down. it was loud and not suited for a game with no much action
the story wasnt much. it's short but the game gives it to you slow and in parts so it seems like forever
still, i'll play the other 2 games to give them a chance. maybe the developers improved

Easy game, but insists on more intrusive & unnecessary hand-holding than I have seen in almost any other game I've played. It should really be possiblle to turn that feature off. It is primarily a HO and matching game at it's most basic. Not for folks who prefer any of the challenge in either puzzle or adventure games.

It was boring to play and nothing really special and the only reason I did play it was I heard the later games in this series were good and wanted to play them in order. The puzzles and HOS were far too easy and the story line was short and boring as well as the graphics of the characters. The voice overs were rather bad but the scenes weren't too bad. This was not something fun at all I finished it in less than an hour, way too short but I will give this series another shot with the next one though I do not recommend this game.

Rooms are exactly the same as the Citadels of Time game in series.
I played the Citadels of Time first in the series before this one. The rooms and hallways were all exactly the same as that game.
-HOS were easy for the most part
-Puzzles were easy
-boring; concept/storyline was the same/similar as others in series
-the inventory, menu, hint concept was not desirable. I hated it at the top of the screen instead of the bottom.
-Journal was not very helpful
-Did not like the hint concept; you had to find mirrors in order to gain a hint. Use all hints and dont find mirrors, no hints could be used which is the only way you know where to go next (no arrows for directions, but words).
-No map; you had to go back and forth many times between rooms.
-Game really too short.
