A bit difficult...but lots of fun! This was the second game I ever played on this site a while back. It was quite challenging and I got stuck in one spot for the longest time, and thank goodness for the blog walkthrough or I would still be stuck there in the snow frozen Seriously, you can almost feel the wind as you hear it howling around you. The graphics and overall thought put into this game is wonderful. Scared the heck out of me a couple of times. I definitely had a good time playing. November 29, 2012
Mayzy's Reviews - Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove You have to love the Mystery Case Files games. If nothing else, they make a concerted effort to create an engaging story that isn't a complete repeat of what's been done before. The plot in this one was fairly predictable, but it certainly kept my interest. I found the art outside of the HO scenes to be very nice. The music was chilling and set the mood without immediately becoming repetitive. I've read some bad reviews of the character actors but I have to say that I was VERY impressed with them! (Particularly when compared to 98% of the actors in other games) They didn't overact, they fit the roles, and they were all really cute without being unnatural. Kudos to them! However, this game fell short of a perfect score on two points. The first was the puzzles. While I enjoyed the puzzles, I hated the fact that there was no clue given as to how to solve them. Much of the time I was just completely clueless and had to sort of fall into a solution. Some of them were obvious, don't get me wrong, but some were stupid-confusing. The second issue was the hidden object scenes. Sigh. Ugly, illogical and repetitive. They really brought the overall quality of the game down. You're really going to have me find the same jar of pickles in the same scene for the THIRD TIME??? Still, it was overall a very good game and well worth the price. I will probably be playing it again. November 29, 2012
Happily entranced I have steered away from MCF games- prejudiced by the truncated versions available online- I am not a big HOG fan, more of an adventure gamer but I LOVED this game. The story was awesome, the mystery really drew you in and the game play interestingly difficult without being frustrating. HIGHLY recommend November 28, 2012
My Favorite Game - Ever. In the past, I hated Mystery Case Files Games. But, I tried this one, and it was amazing! The graphics were great, the fun factor was fabulous, and the story line was the best story line I have ever seen in a game! The videos that you collect during the game are chilling, but very entertaining. The difficulty was hard, without being frustrating. I recommend this game, and so does the rest of my family! An Instant Favorite! After all the rave reviews for the MCF games, I'd tried Madame Fate and was very disappointed. For me, straight HOS games get dull and repetitive real fast. What I didn't realize was that the later MCF games incorporate more puzzles and challenges than the early versions. SO glad I tried this one out, because this shot to the top of my most favorite game list. LOVE the story line, the videos are really well done. The challenges are good, not too easy, not too hard. I love when I have to think creatively about what to do with an item in my inventory. This is seriously the best game I've played so far in the dozen or so I've sampled. Can't wait to play the other later games in the series! November 13, 2012
May be the best HOG I've ever played! Just excellent. Well Big Fish said I had to add more text to my review, so I guess I just have. Best all, November 13, 2012
Sets The Standard If you want a HOG to measure all the others by, get Dire Grove. The graphics, storyline, HOG games and challenge are all impeccable! This is the best game I've played online - hands down. Even better than 13th Skull and some of the other great MCF entries! November 11, 2012
mystery case files: Dire Grove This is one of my all time favorite games, I have played all the other ones that led up to this one, it's the best, it makes you feel you are there helping them! Can't wait for the next one to come out! November 5, 2012
All time favorite game I have played many, many games on BF but so far this is truly my all time favorite game. Highly recommend it. Enjoy! October 31, 2012
Simply Amazing This game has become the one that I judge every other game by. Beautiful, challenging and completely kept my interest. It is hard for me to believe that there are still games out there so terrible when this game proves what can be achieved by devs. October 22, 2012
