Mary Kay Andrews: The Fixer Upper
I found the story line very interesting and the tasks to complete along the way most enjoyable...had fun fixing up the lovely house with HOG along the way...wish it lasted much longer.

Thanks reviewers - I almost bought this.
This is why I review games - old and new. Because there are people out there, like me, who do rely on what others have to say about a game after having played it completely. So, thank you to those who struggled through it and lost your money on it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game play. Although, I do concur that the "mini games" were idiotic and not mini games at all. I felt that once you got past the initial verbosity it was an ok game. I liked it. But, the first time I replayed an HOG (hidden object game), that was it for me.
I liked the demo well enough but, after reviewing the reviews, decided not to purchase the game. I don't take the negatives only, either. I look at the overall reviews. How many 4 and 5 stars (together) there are as opposed to how many 1, 2 and 3 stars (together) there are and if there are more bad than good, well, I'd like to know why. And, most of the time, I follow the advice of those reviews.
So, not for me and not going to recommend because the 4 stars was for the demo only. My feeling, enter at your own risk.

Game could use a little fixing up
Not a bad game, but not the great either. I think there should be more game play and less talk between the characters. After a while I didn't even bother reading what they were saying. Enjoyed the redecorating part.

I've played worse.
Pros: Good storyline; not insipid like many casual game's stories tend to be. The story also makes it very clear that this was intended for adult women. I really really enjoyed the first half of this game.
Cons: Too short, & the slow-paced story has a sudden abrupt ending, feels like it needs a sequel. As Mass Effect 3 players will tell you, a bad ending can trump a fun journey.

Should have stuck to one story line
The hidden objects puzzles are good - some of the objects blend in nicely, making it more of a challenge. That's the only reason I would recommend this game. Mini puzzles varied from boring to good. If they'd stuck with the fixer upper storyline, I'd have rated it much higher. But they had a back story involving the FBI that had such a contrived and abrupt resolution that it spoiled the game. Seemed like the game's creators got bored and just decided to quit, so they wrapped it all up quickly in a way that really makes no sense.

it was ok
it was boring, wish they had more games like this but better lately all they seem to release is hidden object games. They are fun but after awhile they become tedious

Easy little HOG
I played 50 minutes of the trial. It's a good time-waster, but nothing more. While playing the game, I actually found myself wanting to finish it, but after reading the reviews, I decided against it (short, no real end, you don't get to finish the house)! The hidden object scenes are okay, although it seems that the "miclick" counter that comes up after each scene doesn't work correctly - I made one inaccurate click and my accuracy drops to 60%? The minigames were hardly that, only holding your mouse and dragging it around. It would've been nice if we had had the option to choose between different options - wallpaper color etc. As many people before me said, there is way too much dialogue that's not relevant to the story, but I have to admit that I have never read a Mary Kay Andrews book, so I don't know whether this plays a part, too.
Overall, this is a game purists could play when there's nothing else around, and when this game is on sale!

Just an OK game
There is nothing exciting about this game. It includes a lot of dialogue, hidden object scenes and shadowed scenes. You can play timed or not. I wouldn't want this game, it seems like it was made many many years ago, and now we have more sophicated games. It's just a light little game, nothing special.
