Hmmm? Interesting game to play, but too many HOS for my taste The good: Mystery, crime and horror story Music nicely goes with the whole ambient You have a notebook with shown objectives and map, along with a detailed journal Puzzles are rare but enjoyable The bad: Graphics are nothing special, locations are too dark, in some parts visibility is bad, character design is not to my likening, due to the creepy/funny mix HOS besides being too many, have no interaction except in the search for the final object; in spite scenes being overloaded you can easily spot most of the listed objects, but some of them are barely impossible to see ? very frustrating March 27, 2013
Great HOG, Tons of Fun This is one of my favorite games on this site. The mystery of who is killing off the characters one by one is great and lots of fun. The characters are well drawn and the voice-overs even sound good. Some of the puzzles are a bit difficult and a few of the items you have to find are...well, miniscule to say the least but it isn't impossible to find them. It kind of reminds me MCF: Madame Fate if it had a more adventure/point-and-click style to it rather than just strictly HOG and puzzle. It takes a while to play this, I've played it 3 times already since I bought it a year ago and it still takes me over 5 hours. Definitely a must have! January 17, 2012
Not as good as the one before it. Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy was much much better than this one. Where that one was a dark, somewhat suspenseful thriller, this game is rather silly with annoying comically exaggerated characters. Like the other game, the backgrounds and search scenes are drawn much better than the characters. At least I think I remember there is a decent amount of game time if nothing else. Others may enjoy this game, but it will help your opinion of the game to know that it's not very similar to the first one. November 25, 2011
Extremely Difficult I downloaded this game and Nightfall Mysteries: Asylum Conspiracy. Both were too difficult to keep me interested. I spent 35 minutes and could only find the prop door and a gas can. I couldn't find the things it said to look for in the notebook. I also couldn't find a 'Hint' button to show me if I was getting close to anything I needed. The graphics weren't bad. I wouldn't recommend this game to people who are new to HOG's. I'm usually an expert on HOG's but this one made me feel like a beginner. December 30, 2011
Worst. Ending. Ever. This game did indeed have the worst ending I have ever seen or heard of. It often took me much too long to figure out what to use things for. I thought it could of have just been me, but reading the other reviews, it obviously was not. Good for my self confidence in the fact that I am indeed an intelligent being, ba-a-d for this game. I felt alot like it tried to be darker than it actually was. I know of no better way to make a game, or actually, I know of no better way to make ANYTHING pathetic faster than trying to portray it as devastatingly dark when it is just a bunch of confused gore. I am going to put a bit of a spoiler in, although this game is much too rotten for most anyone to care for spoilers. A character jumps off a cliff in plain sight of your character, then comes back at the end alive as if nothing happened. Well, the music is kind of nice if you like highly edited opera. Could have been so much better Excellent storyline that draws a player in. Many of the puzzles are virtually impossible to complete. Using the walk-through in this respect could be helpful to avoid frustration that comes with not knowing what to do. The game does offer a skip option for the more difficult parts. The ending was very disappointing, in my opinion. The mystery is not solved and the player is just notified that they are a good detective. December 15, 2011
I don't like it. Locating the hidden objects in this one is a great sore instead of fun. Sometimes, when you use the hint button to locate one you might feel that the designer didn't have the least intention for you to find it at all. And there are so much of them, interrupting the flow or rythm of the game in a most frustrating way. The story is good, but the play experience is bad. I didn't enjoy it. And the ending is poor. boring game nothing like the first of the series hos hard to see items to small December 30, 2011
Too many hidden object games There was no adventure finding and using tools, it was one hidden object game after another, no puzzles or anything else, boring! February 4, 2012
Good Relaxing Game for HO Fans If you're not so much into the adventure side of HOPA games but like some meaning to what you're searching for, this is an excellent game for you. The story is loose and not meant to be believable and, really, just for fun. The ending, unlike what other reviewers have said, didn't seem too off-the-wall to me - but then how many games have stories that are believable and endings that make total sense? I haven't seen one after playing a couple of hundred of these HOPAs. The games are fantasy, or we wouldn't play them. At first it seemed a little difficult but past the first location, the game holds your hand throughout. Excellent map plus a journal plus a notebook for clues means you're never stranded wondering what to do or where to go. There are oodles of HO scenes and even HO scenes within others, and the hint button recharges quickly. The graphics show up a tiny bit fuzzy on my extra wide large monitor, but nowhere enough to create a problem. The scenes are colourful for the most part, and though occasionally objects are on the small side, they're all findable. The scenes are static - a little animation would have improved the feel of the game. Music is pleasant and unobtrusive. The puzzles were quite unusual and the skip is a long time coming, but again nothing to write this game off for. I loved being anything other than a detective or hysterical relative. The characters you meet are all funny and melodramatic and that's the fun of it. The voice overs are ham actors, just as it should be in an opera company being killed off one by one. Methods of dying are tongue in cheek as well. While not awe inspiring, this is a solid game, very relaxing, great for the times you don't feel like thinking too hard. The sequel is also a great way to relax and is a continuation of the story, in an entirely different atmosphere. February 9, 2012
