Geared toward young girls, still fun for adults.
The theme of this game is definitely girly. Flowers, fairies and unicorns abound. But the design and illustrations are nicely done and not cloying-cute, so the girly factor isn't a turn off.
Most mini-games are simple (such as matching pairs of objects, simple color mixing), as they should be for the younger set, but not boringly simplistic. A few are actually rather challenging. Puzzles and tasks are straight-forward, with ample clues and not much back-and-forth looking for items. Generally, items needed for a task or puzzle are found in the same room as the puzzle. There seems to be no over-click penalty.
There is no task list to refer to, but the simplicity of the tasks mean that such a list is not really missed. Gameplay hints are pretty unhelpful, as they are not contextual but simply seem to point out areas of interest (which you've probably already found yourself).

Mayzy's Review- Awakening: The Dreamless Castle
The Dreamless Castle is the first of the Awakening series. Imagine that you wake up and realize that you've been asleep for 100 years and not a single hair is out of place. That's when you realize that you must be a princess in a fantasy kingdom. The fairies and goblins help, too. The game follows Princess Sophia as she attempts to free herself from the castle in which she's been sleeping, with the help of her cute little Tinkerbell-esque fairy, Mira (aka 'The Hint Button')
The game is gorgeous. The art is light-hearted, full of fantasy and femininity, without being utterly girly. The Awakening series, in general, is one of the most visually appealing that I've come across.
If you play through all of the Awakening series (currently there are three), you will definitely note a progression in the complexity of the plot and puzzles. This first game is fairly straightforward and honestly pretty easy. Good if you just want to relax. There are not a lot of hidden object scenes and you will find a lot of adventure-type quests.
Overall, this is a splendid game for a younger audience and might be a great way to introduce a daughter or niece to puzzle games.

Beautiful, fanciful game
One of my favorites in the genre.
It's very easy, but sometimes it's fun to play easy games, especially when you feel stressed out and aren't really looking for a challenge, just want to relax and have fun.
I'd say it should also be good for children as well.
The art is beautiful and it is lighthearted.

No Professor Layton, but it's definately worth playing
Awakening: The Dreamless Castle is a puzzle game with a story that makes you want to know more. The characters are interesting, but nowhere near Layton's character depth, for those who have played the series.
However, ATDC does not dissapoint when it comes to puzzles and brain-teasers.
The Graphics are superb, while the music on the other hand is good, but it's not much variety. However, once you hear the theme you know that you are "back" in the castle.
It gets a very high grade from me, I loved it and just beat it spending 5 hours.

I loved this game!
The Awakening series are great, relaxing games. They are not as complicated as some games, but you will thoroughly enjoy playing this one from beginning to end. The puzzles are fun and you get to go from one beautiful scene to the next as you encounter some interesting characters.

Lovely and Relaxing
I love all three games in this series. Dreamless Castle is the first, but I played it last. Just like the rest, the visuals are lovely. You play a princess, who just woke from a deep sleep and discovered that the castle it almost empty. A few fairies and goblins left, but no humans. You need to work your way through the castle, finding items and solving mini-games to free yourself.
There is some walking back and forth and most of the mini-games are fairly easy to solve. There are some Hidden Object Scenes that I thought were well done. Some of the mini-games are variations on the same theme (matching items, remembering sequences, picture puzzles).
Having said all that, I still loved the game. It is relaxing and beautifully drawn. No, it isn't a challenge to play, but it is wonderfully enjoyable and took me quite a while to finish.

Soooo Much Fun!!!
I actually purchased this game to play with my grand-daughter. However, it was so much fun, that I play it when she is not here. The storyline is full of fun and adventure, and the hidden objects are not too difficult. This is just a Fun game to play with family and friends. Not scary or creepy so the kids won't have nightmares after playing. And best of all.....You will enjoy playing it.

Still One Of My Favorite Games
I have played this game three times the whole way through and I am sure I will play it again in the future. I own all of the games in the Awakening collection, but this one is my favorite and worth every penny.
