Another great one! Personally I love dark fairy tales and this falls into that category. Thing about the collector's edition though is I don't really feel that the extras are worth it... It's definitely worth it as a regular edition as the length of the game is good. Just don't feel that the extra gameplay is enough to warrant double the price. Maybe an extra $2 or $3, but not double. But that's just me. Other than that, it's a really great game. In my top 10% of favorites ^_^ November 21, 2011
Fun but not worth CE This is a very pretty game (beautiful graphics) with equally pretty and fitting music. At no time did I feel the need to turn the sound down. As with the other Dark Parables, the action takes place in and around a fairy tale castle. Several of the rooms, while beautiful, didn't seem to serve much purpose other than as a walk through. Normally I reference a walk through or strategy guide just to make sure I am on track - I did not have the need to do so with this game and also did not get much from the CE version. The bonus content seemed tacked on - it was short, confined to only 2 or 3 areas, and did not add to the storyline. The mini-games were without variety (2-3 different types) and as always very easy. For me anyway, the only challenges were those involving memorization. As always, the fragmented object scenes were nicely done sending me to hints more than once. There are no straight hidden objects scenes which is ok by me as I prefer fragmented object. Overall I would recommend this game, but it is not one I would play over and over or seek out. February 25, 2012
A fun few hours... I do love this stye of game. This is an adventure game as much as a HOG as you will be going back and forth and interacting with objects. The music was light and not distracting. The graphics were clear, the colors warm and the needed objects were not dark. The story line was fairly easy to follow and the puzzles were interesting but not extremely hard. I found I only needed two hints in the entire game. I was, however, disappointed in the ending as it just seemed to end. No tally on the morphed objects that you find though it had given a number count throughout the game. It would have been nice to be able to go back and look for the missed ones. The included "novels" are nothing more than short fables. The extra adventure was fun but short. I do think this is a very replayable game as when I started a second time the difficulty had increased. The game took me about 4 hours but I did play with only minor pauses. All and all I wish I had waited for the standard game but it's not a great disappointment as I did enjoy it over all. Thank you BF for an interesting afternoon. November 11, 2011
Unable to complete game due to final puzzle This was an easy game using fragmented objects rather than hidden object word lists. The mini puzzles were logical & easy to solve. You have 20 morphing objects to find, there is no prize for completing the set. There is no choice of mode to play so expect sparkles for the FR0G scenes & glints for objects of interest. I was having fun until I reached the very final puzzle; you have to click on matching icons that are falling into a cauldron, the more you match the more icons appear & the harder it becomes. If like me you have painful wrists/hands this is almost impossible & there is no skip button. As I could not complete the final puzzle I did not see the ultimate cut scene nor, sad to say, could I play the bonus chapter. This is really frustrating & made me angry as I had wasted money on a game I could never hope to complete. So I will recommend but only if you are able to use your mouse freely. May 12, 2012
Beautiful Game! The Dark Parables is my favourite series of games. The graphics are stunning, game play is enormous fun and its a bit different than your average HOG. You will see what I mean. I highly recommend this game. December 18, 2011
Blue Tea games does it again Blue Tea Games makes undoubtedly the best games on Big Fish. The Dark Parables series are all wonderful. This one is the first and is a little less complex than the later two. More puzzle than HO. Perfect graphics and sound. Lots of back and forth between scenes. I didn't want this to be over when it was done. This is a game for casual game connoisseurs. If you like some easy fast fun this isn't for you. If you buy this game (and you should) GET THE COLLECTOR'S EDITION! It is worth it! January 12, 2012
A top 10! This one has it all. It ranks right up there with Return to Ravenhurst and Dire Grove. It's that good. I've played it many times now, and it never fails to entertain. Top graphics, good storyline, challenging but reasonable mini-puzzles. Thumbs up! June 3, 2012
Ruined my computer I liked the sound of this game, But it constantly froze my computer, I would be in the middle of playing when suddenly the cursor would freeze and I could progress no further unless i turned my computer off (which I couldn't do without pulling the battery out, as the whole computer just froze) Before people say it must be my computer, it was the game that did this, I took my computer to the I.T department at work and they confirmed it. After uninstalling the game all was fine but shame I had to spend ten quid on it for it to then ruin my computer, so can't say if it was a good game or not, suffice to say will not be buying any more blue tea games!
