Beautiful Graphics
PLUS = After seeing that this was a Game of the Year awardee, I decided to try the demo and midway through, went ahead and purchased. I loved the graphics (very beautifully done) and the setting, really enjoyed exploring the castle grounds. I liked the story line and also the interactive aspects of the game. Since the game was non-linear, I was able to wander at my own pace, pick up different items, and then figure out how to use them when I arrived at the right site.
MINUS = This is a Find the Fragmented Object game (FROG), instead of a traditional Hidden Object game. I prefer the regular HO type games, but at least the FROG pieces were large enough for me to find

Hints At The Quality Games To Come
GAME COMPLETED SEVERAL TIMES
There is much that is good about this game, but you must first become used to the poor graphics that are unavoidable for a game this old (released March 2010).
As well, you must enjoy fragmented HOs, because that is all this game offers, with a few puzzles tossed in.
Once your eyes have adjusted, you can appreciate:
? Interactive objectives feature which tells you which scenes require your attention
? Pleasant ?zen? music
? Morphing collectibles
? And the challenge offered when you complete the game and it is automatically changed to hard mode and the promise of a secret room to be discovered.
I really like the story, the first in the Dark Parables series, where all their stories are treated this way.
The Curse of Briar Rose is the ?true? story behind the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, and you are a fable detective enlisted to release Briar Rose and the castle from the curse.
This game is easy, apart from the visibility question, and therefore pretty short.
But if your eyesight can handle it, I think this is a fine game for the collection, and worthy of the spectacular games that follow in this series.

I Have Played This Game Again And Again
I have tried and bought many games on Big Fish and there are only a couple I would play again and again and this is one of them. I own both games in this collection and this one is by far the best. I have played it twice the whole way through and I am sure I will play it again in the future.

Entertaining Hidden Object Game
Beautiful graphics, nice music, & appropriate ambient sound. The hidden object scenes involved finding fragments of items that became inventory items, which did require lots of moving back & forth between scenes at times. This back tracking was the only real thing I didn't enjoy.
The puzzles were a little bit on the easy side but I didn't mind that. A very enjoyable game.

Nice Game, Not Challenging Enough
Dark Parables: Curse of the Briar Rose is a fragmented hidden object game. It's loosely based on the story of Sleeping Beauty. The graphics are nice and the music is great. The game could be a little more challenging.
The puzzles are very easy, in my opinion, and the hidden object scenes were decent. Some of the item pieces are very well hidden. The story is fun, and be prepared to run around a lot. The game has "cursed" morphing objects that are fun to find, and reduce the time the hint button takes to recharge. There is also a hard mode that is unlocked after you complete the game.
I really thought the game could be longer. I played both the normal mode and the hard mode one after the other, and it only took me less than three hours. The hard mode went a lot faster, I finished it in a little over an hour. The hard mode doesn't allow hints or puzzle skipping, but the puzzles weren't difficult enough to want to skip in the first place. Still, I enjoyed the game, and am glad I bought it.

Dark Parables games are my favorite
I absolutely love the Dark Parables series and

It was ok.
Compared with other hidden object games, I found Briar Rose fairly simplistic and not very challenging. Probably not enough puzzle scenes for my liking and the hidden object scenes were quite boring as you aren't searching for separate objects, rather pieces of one larger object which are really simple to find. Not my favourite game.

pretty fun game
Not that difficult to play. It was a good game for HO and the puzzles can be hard to understand at times. All in all a good game to play.

What a thrill!
I had played the demo quite a while back on another site and had, in all honesty, forgotten about this game. More recently, I had played the demo of the Exiled Prince, enjoyed it and purchased it. I decided to go looking for more games in the Dark Parables series and rediscovered the Briar Rose.
I am so glad I did. This is a very enjoyable game. The storyline is compelling and draws you in. And once you're in, you are hooked.
The graphics are excellent, you can almost feel being pricked by the thorns. The HOs are well done, with objects being not too easy nor too hard to find. I did have to use the hint a few times because my old eyes cannot always discern slight differences in contrast.
I enjoyed the sound track. I usually have it turned way down or completely off but this one actually added to the sense of enchantment. Well done!
I would say the level of challenge is perfect for the intermediate player. I you are a beginner, I advise getting the collectors edition or keep the blog walkthrough close at hand until you get used to the style of the gameplay.
I loved it. Wish I had waited to get the collectors edition simply for the additional items that come with a collectors edition, not necessarily the strategy guide but I was impatient and didn't want to wait another month for the additional game credit!
A word of caution: you can get so wrapped up in the story line that you forget to look for the enchanted items!
I highly recommend this game!

Beautiful graphics but....
This is a bit of a different HOG in that you don't look for one object, but the bits of the object to put together to use.
It's unusual at first but gets old quickly. I didn't even finish the trial.
It's a shame because the story line is great, the graphics are beautiful and the soundtrack is nice and in the background rather than in your face.
