Cute story I don't know where these 5 star ratings are coming from. It's an ok game, cute story, graphics are fair with a watercolor appearance, I have seen much more beautiful graphics in other games. It's worth $2.99 but I wouldn't pay more. No big challenge in puzzles or anything in this game. It was relaxing to play but I can't say it was super fun! I've played way better, but I still would recommend it for the daily deal. May 6, 2012
An Engaging Tale that is a Feast for the Eyes. This is the third game by Digital Quarter that I've played. The other two, Mystery Age: The Imperial Staff, and Mystery Age: The Dark Priests, were also beautiful, well-crafted games. In Shaolin Mystery, the graphics are equally beautiful, with little animated touches throughout, but it also has a more mature story than the other two which I quite liked, and it had a satisfying ending. All three ran flawlessly on my older PC, and were a good length. June 2, 2012
not my cup of HOG Probably not a bad game I just do not like this type of HOS. No voice over and just a average and old type of game. Too many great games out there to play. April 26, 2013
LOVED this game I have played a lot of games and this ranks in my top 10. I don't usually think the stories are that great, this one is good. The graphics are in my top 5 favorite, they are beautiful, especially in the fantasy type portal - gorgeous. There are a lot of HOS but I like that - they are challenging so not boring. The mini games are challenging - I rarely use the skip but I did on some of these because I don't do well on the ones where you have to move the squares around inside the square. The music was a flute type music, I found it relaxing so I kept the volumn up while playing. Overall this is a great game. August 10, 2012
Eye Candy OMG, the art is stunning! Probably the most beautiful of the 160 games I own, many of which also have beautiful art. Best of the best. December 10, 2011
ughhh im exhausted lol wow..never had to do so much for sooo many people! go here, do this, do that...im totally exhausted lol ok so i found it boring..you might not think so...go try! June 4, 2012
Couldn't wait for it to be over I found this game to be disjointed and frusrating. There is a ton of back and forth with no map or real direction. The mini-games were OK but some were downright ridiculous (weighted puppets on top of levers - seriously?) in the number of permutations you had to go through to figure them out. I almost never skip puzzles but I did several times out of sheer boredom and frustration. The directions were often vague and obtuse so much so that you had to spend frustrating minutes just figuring out how the puzzle worked before you could starting thinking about how to solve it. There were numerous English language errors in the directions as well. Really? Find a native English speaker to proof your work - pretty basic quality control - if your audience is English speakers. I played it until the end because I just hate to leave a game un-done but I could not wait for it to be over. Graphics were decent - I've seen better and worse. The story was hokey and not very engaging. It was also annoying to have to stop and talk to so many characters in order to have a clue what the next step in the game was. I won't be buying the other installment in the Shaolin series and I don't recommend buying this one. July 1, 2012
very nice but not perfect Overall this is a nice, relaxing hidden object game with a catching story line. Beautiful, colourful graphics with lots of details. The objects are hidden in classical hidden object scenes as well as fragmented objects along the way. What I found a bit tedious is that you have to revisit the same hidden object scenes again and again and again. Even the object variety is not that big: snails, swords, drums, butterflies, cups, same things over and over again which in the end becomes a bit boring. Nice mini games in between though with a couple of them I completely failed to understand the object of the game - luckily there is a skip button. Another flaw is that the cut scenes are so fast that even a fast reader cannot catch the whole text. Pity. Without these minor issues I would have given this game five stars since it is hugely enjoyable. June 5, 2012
I couldn't believe all the good reviews! This is a poor game. If anything its' level of challenge is too high.I couldn't even do the game with the walkthrough! There aren't enough guidelines in the games itself to help a player know what to do, exactly when to do it, and where to go next after you are finished with a task. I prefer a game with more structure in it! I wish I had never gotten this game! May 22, 2012
Shaolin Mystery: Tale of the Jade Dragon Staff Title and game cover are more impressive than the actual game. Hidden objectes are hard to find because of darkness and the hint button is very slow. The storyline was fine but I wish the Jade Dragon Staff ending was not a continuation and I actually would get to see it better after all the work it took me to get there. Music was lovely. Never needed a walk though but the mini games were too much for me. June 2, 2012
