My challenge is to stay with the game! Can't stretch my review enough to incorporate my disdain for the game. From the mispelled text to the final scene, I found little that could be called challenging, insightful, or intriguing. March 3, 2012
Pretty good adventure game This game is pretty good. First off, no HO scenes. The graphics are above standard and the storyline is good. The cutscenes aren't very good at all and the character amatuerish. I didn't notice any music or sound effects. No voice overs and the camera is basically your notebook. No map is needed as the game is fairly linear. The puzzles are fair, and all easily doable. There is no mode option, and I didn't use the tutorial so can't comment there. I finished the game in less than my average time so it is not a lengthy play. Having said all that it is still a pretty good game for beginner or even intermediates. For the experienced player, I would consider this a nice filler game. January 19, 2012
Hidden Object Game The storytelling was very immature. It read like a first or second grader and practically every item in every scene had a notation to read, which didn't seem to fit in the overall game. The game did not grab me from the very beginning, as most of the ones I've played have so far. I was extremely disappointed in this one. March 27, 2012
Enjoyable! I'd list this in the upper 25% of games enjoyability-wise. It's quite fun. Slightly creepy, I love dark stories. Also not the best art I've seen, but not the worst either by a long shot. The puzzles are half and half... some are quite easy, while a few are pretty hard. A bit of inconsistency in challenge level there I feel. I'd say it's worth a play. November 25, 2011
Short, ok non HO Game The game was very short, as usual. It's not worth $9.99 in my opinion. The graphics were ok but a bit outdated. The atmosphere was ok, the story was ok. The puzzles were a bit daunting, generally. About half of the puzzles had no clues to them without hitting the hint button. The other half did. It's an ok game if you want something short. It also has no hidden object scenes. I wasn't greatly impressed. It starts off pretty interesting then gets kinda blah at the end. June 29, 2012
It was ok I thought the game was just ok. I thought from the reviews it was going to be better than it really was. The game started out like it was going to be good but about half way through i really just wanted to be done. One of the reasons I was bothered with this game was when you got to puzzles they gave you no clue on how to solve yes u can figure most out but there were some that I had no clue so I had to keep hitting the hint button just to figure out what to do. Even though you could look back at photos to help solve certain ones they still didnt make sense. Just my opinion May 29, 2012
Utterly Enjoyable, But Far Too Short 'Nightmare Adventures: The Witch's Prison' is one of the best BFG games as far as gameplay goes, which is a shame because the full version is far too short. Though this game is challenging, with a decent plot and a rather chilling conclusion, it felt to me as if it is half the length of the other games that I've played in the genre. This truly may have been in contest as one of my favourite games on the site - the puzzles are decently challenging, the problems/solutions are very original, and I love the main character's snarky remarks when you examine objects on the screen - had it been a bit beefier. As it is, I want very much to like it, but was quite disappointed. Mixed Feelings. March 16, 2012
Nightmare Adventures -- A Dream Game! I put this game in my top 5 for 2010. I didn't write a long review when I played it, just these brief comments? The game style is quite unique in tone. There is a puzzle at every turn. The story is curious to say the least and held my interest. The atmosphere is gloomy and creepy, but the game's author has a sense of humor as well. The other reviews here have filled in the details I have since forgotten, but I do remember how much I enjoyed this game, and just wanted to add another positive voice. Enjoy! January 19, 2012
Excellent Game play. Very creative and enjoyable. Presented great challenge with unique puzzles and a great story line. Can't wait for the sequel. December 8, 2011
Great Puzzles, Funny too! When the game had a saw blade that you had to bring an item to to cut, I knew I didn't have what I needed. I decided to try my entire inventory anyway. For each of the items, I got a different variation of the standard reply "you don't need to cut this" (much more interesting that way). But when I tried to cut the worm I had in my pocket, it called me a "Sicko" and I was hooked! The puzzles were great, with enough difficulty for a seasoned gamer, but not impossible to solve, and the variety of types of puzzles was very good as well . The story was interesting. My only disappointment was the ending... it was a bit ambiguous. I'm assuming a sequel is planned. I prefer complete endings and sequels being a new story for the original characters than a continuance of the original story. Definitely worth playing! November 30, 2012
