Not Actually Terrible But... It's not that good either. The story is not bad, though too much reading involved. The graphics are well done but far too dark and dirty and gloomy. Many objects were difficult to find because they were hidden in a pile of rusty dirty junk. I find this tedious after a while. There are typos throughout, which makes the game seem amateurish compared to some of the really GOOD games available for hidden object fans. I played it through and kept it back when I first discovered HO games, but I couldn't go on with it this time. December 7, 2011
Disappointing and Frustrating This seemed like a really good game, I bought it after previewing it and the preview went really well. But there are some very serious mistakes in this game (even grammar and visual mistakes), puzzles that are literally impossible to solver without hint or a walkthough (I am not being arrogant, they were impossible!) and the plot was subpar at best. I did like it a bit but these issues really ruined it for me. December 2, 2011
Uninteresting If you want a game that's easy almost to the extreme, Mystery Valley is for you. The only highly relative difficulty will be found in the HOS's where some items are not easy to spot, one because some are tiny, two because others are buried in junkpiles, three because most scenes are dark. But on the easier of the two levels, hints recharge so fast that you should complete each HOS almost at warp speed. No challenge in the puzzles which are as simple as pie; I found one that was interesting, though. Actions are a piece of cake, you only have to find a couple of useful items per scene and using them is also child's play. The game is totally linear. A voice-over comes up at the beginning, but all the rest is in the form of scripts. I actually liked the artwork -it is quite good, and the dramatic music in general, except for one tune which got on my nerves. There is an element of horror popping up every now and then, but there's nothing scary about the rest. Skipping the cutscenes, I reached Scene 4 of Day 4, that is Chapter 4, in the one hour allotted by the demo, even though I didn't skip any of the rare puzzles, and only used the Hint Button 4 times in the HOS's. And you have... 6 Chapters in all ! Do I need to say more ? December 19, 2011
Discouraging Game Starts well but it gets boring and tiring. It's slow, dark and confused. The challenge is being able to see! Unable to do a few things without help, but there is no help! Just a question mark and nothing else. Neither the free trial is worth playing to the end. Don't waste your time !!! January 7, 2012
BRAVO!! A MOST FASCINATING GAME on BFG!! WOW!! DISAPPOINTING REVIEWS!! Began playing and thought this to be, yet, another BFG HOG/Adventure type game of smoke, dust, bells and whistles. Was I wrong!! From the very first scenes, Mystery Valley relies totally on a FASCINATING and RIVETING DARK storyline. BRAVO!! YES!! The "age-old" Mystery of "vampires" being investigated by the "modern-day" FBI gives this game a powerful twist of being fact rather than forgotten fiction. Good grief, there were some typos which does not take away from the INTRIGUING aspects of this awesome game. The scenes were APPROPRIATELY dark, gloomy and FOREBODING. The mood was set and did not deviate--keeping Gamer tightly locked into the plot--afraid to move on-- !! "Dracula" written by Bram Stoker was not set in Miami Beach, you see. I 'd rather give kudos to a BRILLIANTLY EXECUTED game that has minor flaws than to big-money game Developers who have the finances to market unlimited "eye candy". It seems my Reviews are usually in the minority and are rarely liked, however, they are honest and are written upon completion of gameplay!! AH! Quality--not quantity!! Enjoy! Mama Mia April 10, 2012
Some features I liked.... Not the greatest game, but not bad either. And it had a couple of things I really liked. Some common sense approaches! A locked cabinet... You have a crowbar. You don't go looking for the blue key with the yellow jewel. You use the crowbar. Ta-Da! You search in the back yard, and later work into a room adjoining the yard, and need something from out there. Do you go through the long route through all the rooms back to the yard, and then make your way slowly back? Nope, you open the window! Then go in and out from there. This kind of thing I like, and it is all too rare. It is shortish, but I do find the story engaging. Had to buy it at the 2.99 special. It has been more than worth it. I haven't found objects that hard to find, or the scenes that dark or obscure, and I am usually picky about those things. Hate them. Haven't run across an impossible puzzle, but I haven't quite finished yet. Ok, back to the game.... December 21, 2011
Not that bad and OK for a diversion if on sale. This is not one of the highest-quality games I've played, and I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it because it was fairly short. Still, it wasn't a total stinker, either. There are some typos and incorrect labels for objects, but this happens a lot considering they are translated from other languages. The puzzles were really not that difficult, although some of them took a while to solve. I did not use any walkthroughs or skips and enjoyed being challenged (I find most puzzles way too fast and easy, sometimes even insulting). The HO scenes were challenging, and I had to use a few hints to find everything. The story line was compelling but ended too abruptly. The graphics were oddly mixed and looked like they were done by different people or with different programs; for example, the main character's face was well done, but then she has the ugliest hairstyle ever! LOL. I am recommending only at a sale price. December 21, 2011
save your money This is the worst hidden object I have played yet. Horrible graphics, long narrations, rooms with barely anything to do in them, very few challenges. Boring. December 22, 2011
Worst Game I Have Ever Played! BEYOND TERRIBLE! The seek and find sections of this game are at best frustrating. The main character's dialog and thoughts are unbelievably poorly written. The visual elements look as if they were drawn with muddy water. In all honestly, there are no words to describe how awful this game really is. January 7, 2012
hated this game this game was very difficult to navigate, slow. December 19, 2011
