Mystery Case Files : 13th Skull ? Collector's Edition 4.4 5 21 21
Highly Recommended! This is probably one of the best games I've ever purchased from BFG. First, the graphics are amazing. The level of detail in every scene is simply astounding. The characters are actually "real" people (played by actors) rather than illustrations, and it's very neat. Each character has a unique personality, and it's great to be able to chat with them throughout the game. The puzzles in this game are challenging but in just the right way. They're the kind of puzzles where if you have some patience and stick with trying to solve them you will be able to figure them out yourself, instead of having to use the skip button. The music and atmosphere are sufficiently creepy but with a bit of humor to keep the game from being really dark. The story is wonderful with a great shock ending that will leave you floored. The Collector's Edition contains many fun bonuses like extra game play, which adds almost another two hours to the game! Beautiful wallpapers and concept art, and a complete strategy guide make the upgrade well worth it. November 20, 2011
Great Adventure Game! I am a big fan of the Mystery Case Files games and the 13th Skull was no exception. This was a little darker of a game than I usually purchase, but it was still a great adventure, and a great game to play. You really get caught up in the mystery. You will love the graphics and Louisana locations. November 18, 2011
Best game of the series MCF is arguably the best series on Big Fish Games and 13th Skull is, in my opinion the best one of the series. It is a fantastic mix of hidden object scenes, challenging puzzles, and video chats with characters. I love that there are extra "trophies" to earn as you play which will make you want to play over and over again until you achieve them. Plus, the bonus game is well worth the cost of the collectors edition. November 16, 2011
Terrific Game I really enjoyed this game! Good puzzles, great visual effects and I really liked "real people interacting". I felt inside the game! December 25, 2011
Big Dissapointment. I love MCF! I have been playing these games for years! Dire Grove was brilliant! I was anticipating this game and bought the CE as soon as it was released! I have never felt so cheated. I was ready to jump into a deep story, fun game play and great graphics/music. I got one out of three. It is a beautiful game! Music is great and the atmosphere is almost tangible. The art is amazing! Some scenes I could just stare at! I wanted some of the art to frame and hang up. The game play was boring really, I couldn't stop playing the last few MCF games, this one I took long breaks during it and did not replay it. I have replayed all the other MCF games, because they were interesting and fun... this one had no replayability for me. In Return to Ravenhearst and Dire Grove the games don't hold your hand through game play, this game did. Instead of not being able to get into an area because you needed something or had to solve a puzzle, you can't get to some new areas because you don't "feel" like you need to go there yet. The puzzles are not very challenging, they are basically time sucks and not memorable at all. The puzzles from the original Ravenhearst are better than the ones in this game. There is a new feature and it is very interesting. You can interact with characters and ask questions. It is a cool new feature. Unfortunately, this new feature completely takes over game play. You do little errands for each person you speak with... which isn't a bad thing, but it is all you end up doing. Instead of an epic adventure about pirates, you get a choppy, jumbled mess of errands. The story was a jumbled mess of little bits of information you get from a bunch of different people that doesn't make all that much sense. The intense feeling to figure out what is happening, as in Dire Grove, is absent in this game. Because you jump around so much and don't focus on any one thing for more than a few minutes, you find out very little about the "big" main mystery and you don't end up caring about it too much. So, in short, I expected a lot from 13th Skull. At least a game as good as Dire Grove, instead it was as if the game developers wanted to play with their new ideas and didn't care about the story or flow of the game play. I can only hope that the next one will redeem MCF's. November 23, 2011
Addicting in the best way! This is so far my favorite MCF episode! I loved the story setting, the video characters were interesting and sometimes funny, and the story itself really kept me intrigued. I had a heck of a time figuring out some of the puzzles, but in the end I was able to complete them. I liked that this game lasted a long time. I thought the town and house scenes were easy to maneuver and the secret tunnels and rooms were exciting to explore. December 10, 2011
Where's the fun? Why are they choosing NOW to stop caring about plot and game mechanics? What you got from the trailer is basically all the story you get...that alone should say a lot. The puzzles are boring, the music and background sounds get irritatingly repetitive and near the end you pray for a dialogue mute button. The gameplay is terrible and you spend the entire game waiting for something interesting to happen, which it dosen't. There is no real supernatural or scare element. Also forget the so called 'bonuses'...not even worth the review. You really just stumble around finding HOS while nothing happens. The only good point this game has is it's beautiful scenery and artstyle. It's sad to know this is part of MCF because if this game were on sale for $3.99 and offered the bonus content for free, you'd still be paying $3.98 more than it's worth. January 7, 2012
If you like achievements, this game is TOPS! The mini-games are unique, fun, and challenging. The hidden object scenes are crowded, but the objects are very easy to see. The Louisiana atmosphere is very realistic and envelopes you. I've never eaten gumbo, but I always end up with a severe hunger for it while playing this game, ha ha! Great soundtrack, atmosphere noises, and sound effects. Hilarious characters HOWEVER I could do without having to go back and have conversations with a few of them, it would be nice if this was not mandatory, but I can't complain, it's part of their creativity and it's not over-done. I love the achievement system and the crown and golden insignias. MCF did another wonderful job with this addition to their line of games. :) December 20, 2011
Fun Hidden Object Game I loved playing this game. It has an interresting story, great graphics and a surprise ending. BOOM! November 15, 2011
The 13th Skull Collectors Edition The graphics and the southern Mansion and surrounding are the most beautiful I've ever scene in a PC Download. This is an excellent mark. However the game is difficult to follow even with the strategy guide. I spend hours on this game. November 15, 2011
