The Liberty Stone is a Real Gem In an exciting new game in the Off the Record series you are off to the Caribbean to cover a beauty pageant where the winner gets the biggest prize of all ? a chance to wear the famed Liberty Stone, a gorgeous, mammoth-sized ruby. Unfortunately for you, you arrive at the pageant to interview the owner of the stone when one of the contestants is assaulted and the stone stolen. In a twist of events, it looks like you are being framed for the crime. You need to work against time to solve the case and restore your good name. The Liberty Stone is the story of a feud between two families that goes much deeper than the disputed ownership of the precious gem. As always, this development team knows how to put together a great game with lots of visual appeal that is accompanied by excellent voiceovers that add to the overall package. I particularly enjoy the Caribbean sounds that set the ambience for the game and bring back memories of some special vacations I had in those wonderful islands. While playing the game you will find the standard tools available with the additions of a tape recorder that will be used to play cassettes that are found as the game progresses. One of the tools that I personally appreciate and use the most is the interactive transporter-type map that this development team includes in its games. They are always helpful at providing a nudge in the right direction just in case I may have forgotten where I might need to use an item that I am lugging around in my inventory. I always enjoy the HOPs from this developer as they are very interactive and multi-level and in this particular game the HOPs seem exceptionally well done and enjoyable. I always seem to find some surprise in each HOP that I come across which keeps things interesting. As is the case with many of you, I play a lot of HOPA games and look forward to the puzzles, and it seems like some of the puzzles in this game are a bit different than usual. Although the puzzles are not difficult, they are still quite fun and very entertaining. I happen to like math puzzles and have already found one of those in the game so I?ve been doing my happy dance. As a final thought, IMHO, this is a great game. I am having so much fun playing with the scenery and the objects that might move or make various sounds when they are clicked. This developer adds so many little details to their games that make them a notch above. I love the feisty little monkeys that are playing in the various game scenes and lights that I can click that turn on and off again. All in all The Liberty Stone is a great game and one I am thoroughly enjoying. I know that many of you think the HOPA games are becoming very redundant but I am a hopeless fan of the genre and this developer is one of my favorites. I never seem to tire of playing their games. The Liberty Stone was an instant purchase for me but, as always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. June 28, 2015
Eipix has done it again! The fourth installment of the Off the Record series is the best yet. It is so riveting that I could not stop playing it until I was at the end. Seriously, I did not leave my seat until it was finished. Those who only like collectors editions would save some money and enjoy this one just as much. All mystery gamers should try this game. Gorgeous Island Every scene you play through just gets better and better. All so gorgeous. One of those games you want to transport through the screen and hang out. Had a couple of tough mini games but unique. Up to date HOS and game play. One star for the gorgeous graphics Two stars for the great voice overs Three stars for a few unique mini games Four stars because you only play each HOS once! Five stars because I LOVE this series! I've Been Framed! Aaahh, a plush journalistic assignment in paradise covering this years Beauty Pageant, what could be better? Well it can't get much worse, you're the prime suspect when the priceless Liberty Stone gem is stolen and the empty case is in your possession! This stone has been the center of attention for quite some time now with two families claiming to be the rightful owners of the spectacular heirloom. The owner of the resort, Carlos Sterling, is allowing the winner of the pageant to wear the Liberty Stone, which is not sitting well with Tyrell Walker who claims to be the true owner of the stone. When a pageant contestant becomes a victim of an attack, you begin to question your decision to cover this seemingly easy assignment. This game is totally off the record awesome. There are plus signs on many of the inventory items and many of those items have a quick mini game that needs completed before you can use it such as turning dials to the correct image from clues that you come across during your investigation. Once again, you will find several audio cassettes throughout the game to play in your cassette recorder, there is an icon to the left of the inventory bar for quick access to the recorder. The Collector's Edition has available Achievements to earn, 12 Collectible Alphabets and 43 hidden Seahorses to collect. When you are talking to some of the characters, you get to choose responses in three different categories, Sharp, Straight or Bluff. If you choose the wrong response category however, the character tells you it's not believable and the response is far fetched so there's no wrong response really. The Hidden Object Scenes are really entertaining, (12 of them contain a Morphing item in the CE). Some of the HOS are just regular list finds, my favorite was a progressive silhouette game where you find fruit to mix, and play a minigame where you cut the fruit when a meter is in the green zone, and then add that mixture to a shaker bottle and shake the shaker as fast as you can. The Mini Games are plentiful, simple games such as tracing a symbol with your mouse, and some more elaborate. My favorite game required you to spin a roulette wheel to receive your numbers, then you had to place exactly four chips on each number whose sum totaled the number shown. The Collector's Edition has a Souvenir Room, re-playable HOP and Puzzles, Videos and Bonus Videos, Music, Pictures, Collectible Seahorses and Alphabet Letters, Morphing Objects, Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! They Got Stoned... This is posted after playing the entire game. After reading some of the other reviews, I was a bit leery about getting this game, but I found nothing wrong with it. I really enjoyed playing and brought several hours of fun into my day along with playing with my granddaughter it was awesome! While I still do not understand the need for the dialog boxes, the voice overs were well done. The special effects were good and the music went along with the action at the time and was not irritating. Graphics, for the most part, were okay. They have done better in the past, but this was acceptable. Hidden objects were interesting. There were several different types, from silhouette, to lists, to association, to riddles and other variations. Really kept me guessing and enough of a challenge for me. The mini games... well they were mini games and I'm just thankful the skip filled quickly. I did play more than my usual of them, but I just don't have the desire to over work what brain I have left... LOL There is an interactive map which does show places where you have something to do and will transport you to any location on the map. Great help in getting around. The story, while I took a bit to catch on what was taking place and going to take place, it was predictable, but kept my interest all the way through. Give it a try. I do believe you will find it an acceptable game for all ages. June 30, 2015
I don't usually like HO games... ...but I really enjoyed this one! Because there aren't enough time management and strategy games available (IMHO), I rarely play hidden object games. This is an extremely good one, though, and I'm happy I bought it. I played on Easy for a relaxing game and actually found myself enjoying many of the HO scenes, with their "builds" -- not the usual find-the-tiny-object exercise found in most HO games. I truly enjoyed the mini-games. The variety and quality of HO scenes and mini-games is excellent. Minor quibbles: The game could have used a journal, for players who want to limit their use of hints and the map. The small amount of background information in the tapes could have been covered in notes, as other info was. The map should not abut the hint button (too easy to click the wrong button). Finally, the ending was a bit hokey. However, these are all minor and overall, I enjoyed the game (although I won't replay it, which is my personal measure of a 5-point game). June 28, 2015
good Very little I didn't like about this game. 1. It was too short 2. The objectives on the left side of the screen were annoying. 3. It ended abruptly and with a question. All in all, the HOS were fun and I didn't think there was much back and forth involved. Good Game. Give it a try. 2015 October 8, 2015
it's all about the liberty stone has a custom level. good hints and skips. there is a map. you are a journalist covering a beauty pageant and the famed liberty stone is found in your room in the hotel and you are blamed for stealing it. it is at the heart of a feud between two families and who owns it, but it is suppose to be in the crown for the pageant. you need to solve this to prove your innocence. sequel?????? i feel sure since this is one. Good, But A Little Short I'm surprised that no one else mentioned how short this game is. Most Eipix games seem to be much longer. It was a good (not excellent) game, however. Just not 5-star worthy for me. Puzzles were rather easy and I never got hung up on what to do next, so not challenging enough in the most difficult mode. On to the next one! August 11, 2015
A Bit Disappointed I found the game annoying for a different reason entirely: I love jump maps and was excited to see this game has one. However, when I went to the room that showed an exclamation point on the map, I could find nothing to do there. When I hit the hint button, it directed me to a different room! Why was there an exclamation point on this room to begin with? This happened more than once in the 20 minutes I played the demo, which really put me off. I got where I needed to go eventually, but that extra step was beyond irritating. I think I'll pass and wait for it to go on sale. June 28, 2015
