Witches' Legacy: The Dark Throne Collector's Edition 4.5 5 42 42
The New Dark Queen Morgana has finally been defeated, and the dark world of magic must crown a new queen. Unfortunately, the dark magic now possesses Lynn and she is ready to take the throne. Edward must enter the other side and find a way to save Lynn from the dark magic coursing through her veins before she becomes the Queen of Dark magic, never to return! This episode of Witches' Legacy is played as Edward Watson who is Lynn's husband, I'm not thrilled with that aspect, but it's still one of my favorite series. One of the coolest features this game has to offer besides the wonderful graphics, is that almost everything can be interacted with, especially the magical flowers that put on a fantastic display whenever you click on them, The Imp is back, once Lynn's family dog, now a comical Imp who is ready willing and able to help you at a moments notice. You can click on him as well and watch him ham it up for you with several props he uses to entertain you and himself. You are equipped with a Glass of Truth which lets you see the "real" image of the characters you meet along the way. There are Achievements to earn, Plus Sign inventory items, and 35 Morphing Objects available. There are also 36 Collectible Puzzle pieces that can be pieced together in a jigsaw puzzle that will create 4 different Wallpapers when finished. The Hidden Object Scenes are interactive list finds, after finding 4 silhouetted shapes to uncover the list. Each item that is found usually reveal fragments that form a picture or necessary inventory item, and you can opt for an alternate Matching game where you flip over two cards at a time to make a match of identical items. There are 29 Mini Games, ranging from simple jigsaws to repeating the sequence of feathers lighting up with a specific color pattern. This Collector's Edition has 9 Wallpapers, 9 Art Gallery pictures, 3 Screensavers, 6 Soundtracks, Achievements, 36 Jigsaw puzzle Pieces, 35 Morphing Objects, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Another fun game in the Witches' Legacy series. This review is based on the demo hour and the previous beta survey. I was thrilled to see that all three of the main concerns I listed were addressed. Nice. Anyway, I have this whole series. Yes, Imp is back. I'm open-minded on helpers -- I only care if they helpful or a major distraction. My opinion of Imp is that he's more helpful than distracting. The graphics in the opening scenes are not my favorite, but after going beyond the mirror, new areas open up and that's when it started to get much more interesting! I enjoyed each new area I encountered. There are morphing objects and puzzle pieces to be found. As I explore, I always click on the various plant/animal life and see what they do. I like the little touches that add "life" to the gameplay. There are achievements, some even skill-based! There is a locked section in "Extras" that says Puzzles, so I assume (dangerous I know) that the puzzles may be replayed after the game is completed. I'll be getting the game, probably this weekend. Witches' Legacy Dark Throne left me spellbound, it's Fantastic!!! This is the 6th installment of the Witches' Legacy Franchise. In this edition you play the role of Edward "Lynn's husband". I was thrilled with the reversal since I am male and tire of always being in the feminine character. This time Evil Morgana curses Lynn and her mother Carrie and you have to save Lynn from the other side and cleanse the world of evil. Not an easy task in the least. Appearances made by some of your favorites, both friend and foe include.... *Imp "who helps you 14 times" *Wolfgang *Elizabeth "Wolfgang's sister who was changed to a witch in one of the first installments" *Mathias the Evil Warlock *Thetis Evil Witch *Morgana Queen Witch The gameplay is incredible with awesome graphics, and excellent sound/SFX.The back story of the series is revealed nicely as you go, so even if you haven't played any of the previous games, you don't feel like you're missing anything too important. I have all 6 of these releases, someday I will binge play all of them. This one really exceeded my expectations and the bonus play and CE bling was more than average. Enjoy! July 4, 2015
WILL OUR NOBLE KNIGHT EDWARD BE ABLE TO SAVE HIS BELOVED LYNN? The Dark Throne is the sixth game in the Witches Legacy series and, admittedly, I was a bit surprised to see game six. I had thought the series had come to an end but I was wrong. The game starts out a bit slow and seemed boring at first but by the time the demo ended, I was hooked. The Witches? Legacy games have been some of my favorites giving me a lot of ?bang for my buck?. I love the gameplay and the extras that come in the CE versions of these games so when I saw game six it was almost a foregone conclusion that this one would be an instant buy for me. In ?The Dark Throne? the theme would probably be ?love conquers all? as Edward rushes to save his beloved Lynn from the doom of succumbing to the power of the dark side. The game includes four modes of gameplay: Casual, Normal, Hard, and Custom. When it is offered I prefer the custom mode where I can set my options for the way I enjoy playing a game. Quite frequently in newer games from the major game devs we see the custom mode offered but I am surprised that it has not become a standard option in all games. The graphics are excellent and very true to the style of graphics in the previous games in the series. The voices of the characters are also the same as in previous games with the exception of Carrie who seems somehow different. The Dark Throne, like most other games from the mammoth fun team, includes an interactive transporter map that is extremely helpful. Not only does it let me know where tasks are available, it also indicates when I have found all the collectibles and morphing objects hidden in each scene. Our other tool in the game is our tag-along helper Imp who is a fixture in the Witches? Legacy series. I know that many gamers don?t care for Imp but I find his antics entertaining and quite hilarious. The HOPs in the game are varied and fun. Some are interactive stories with pieces to replace as we progress, while others are the interactive list or silhouette types. If I am not mistaken, this dev was one of the first to offer some of the innovations that later became standard with many of the HOPs in other games. The puzzles are not difficult but they are fun and some need a bit of thought and some trial and error to get right. One of my favorites is where Imp moves blocks of keys to the proper keyholes. That one took a bit of fiddling and thought to accomplish. The collectibles and extras are the same as we find in most other games in the Witches? Legacy series. We will collect puzzle pieces and morphing objects that are hidden in each scene. Some of the morphing objects are tricky to spot and not all puzzle pieces are easy to find. The remaining extras include the bonus gameplay, the strategy guide, wallpapers and other goodies. As I mentioned earlier the Witches? Legacy series is one of my favorites and I had thought that the series was over, so it was a delightful surprise to see The Dark Throne. The mammoth fun team packs so much into each scene in a game that I know I will have hours of entertaining fun ahead. Since I own all the games in the series and have loved each one, it was not a surprise that this game would be an instant purchase for me. When the game began I had my doubts but true to form, the dev has presented a game that is an excellent addition to the series. Not all of you may agree with me so, as always, I recommend that you try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy. July 2, 2015
Why this game pulled me right in and did not want to let me go. This review is only based on the demo period, I stopped, but I did not want to, even though the story is related to five previous games, some of which I haven't played. The premise is that, talented witch Lynn is snatched away at a museum opening, and her husband Edward is left to rescue her. Other reviewers have described the features of the game better than I can, so I will instead explain why this game sucked me in (and therefore why I?m still awake in the middle of the night). The first, introductory movie is perfect. It just tells you a very little bit about previous stories, and then stops. So many opening movies are too long, IMHO. Then, on the title page, there?s a storybook that tells you more history of the games, given that this is the sixth game of a series. What a great idea! I have not played all of the previous games, but I think that I am sufficiently caught up by the storybook that I will enjoy playing the rest of this one even out of order. After you start the game, there is just a bit more explanation about the opening of a museum. Then, talented witch Lynn is spirited away, and the action starts right in. There are no unrelated tasks to let you learn how the game works--by trying to find a key to get out the door or by making you find your car keys. I didn?t realize how tired I was of those learning scenarios until I played this game. Also, actions are complex enough that they are games, though they may not be hidden object games or mini games officially. For example, in the first room, you move a series of items on a table to sort them. It was fun! The idea of the items ties right in to the game?s theme, too, helping to explain the world you are entering and adding to the experience. From that moment of sorting objects on, I was hooked. Then there are little touches, like the magic flowering bush in the den, that don?t seem to really advance the story but are just charming. And the bonus items look as if they will be excellent, with a bonus chapter and puzzles, as well as the usual art and music. I could not find a single annoyance with the game in the time I played. Game play is seamless and logical, and I was not using the hint constantly. Yay! Clicking works well in places where you should need to click as opposed to some recent games where you had to really be accurate with the mouse. Double yay! The hint function works perfectly. Great game all around. So, dilemma--do I buy it now, or do I wait to see if there's a 2 for 1 sale for the 4th of July weekend? It's so good that I want to buy it right now. July 3, 2015
At last, a fun game! Based on demo. Started and didn't want to quit. I usually don't play complete demo once I discover I want to buy the game. There appears to be a lot to do, finding puzzle pieces, morphing objects and, naturally actually playing the game. After the last two weeks' games, where only one of the two were to my liking, this is a real treat. Hoping there will be another on Sat., and a 4th of July deal, where I can get two CE's. Excellent puzzles and nice flow.... Nothing was annoying about this game, it flowed nicely, I did not get bored because the puzzles and HO were great...Loved the map, the Imp is not a pain, all and all a very pleasant experience, for once I feel I got my money's worth.... The story line is the usual witch business but it is very modern in its ways of dealing with the enchanting world.I liked it. July 6, 2015
Our little imp is ready for another adventure! There are 8 chapters and 1 bonus chapter. This is one of my favorite series. I was happy to see this one. I love the imp who they call Imp. He always goes above and beyond his call of duty. The VO's are fantastic. The only special feature about the game is that you have a Truth Mirror which lets you see things for what they really are and also gives treasures too. The collectibles are morphers and puzzle pieces. From the puzzle pieces, you can put the puzzles together and have them as wallpaper. Story: As our story began, thanks to Edward, they were able to open a museum in the honor of Lynn's late brother Tom Charleston. The museum name was Tom Charleston Museum of magic. In the museum, Lynn saw an odd mirror. When she put her hand up to it, her eyes started glowing red and she got sucked into the mirror. The evil Morgana wants her to reign as the next queen. The thing is will she reign or will Edward save her in time. Poor mom this time got sucked up by a black shadow so she is in another room of the museum out of commission. Graphics: Gorgeous and stunning. I just liked to look at them for a little bit. Music: It's very pretty and fits nice with the game. Mini games: So far: repeat the sequence, open the drawers with equal numbers, paint a mask, and turn the center of the wheels so you can get the picture on the wheel to match the picture on the outer wheel. Nice variety. H0GS: You have silhouettes, word lists and then pick up the item under the object you picked up, straight word lists with green extra step words, variety here too. Map: Exclamation point-You have something to do here, Star-Morphing and Collectible objects, and Little feet-your location. It's a jump map. The devs really did an awesome job with the game. This to me is above 5 stars. I would love to see a couple more in this series. Or at least one more. Edward, Lynn, Carrie and Imp could put them all out of their misery for good. But it would be nice to see Lynn and Edward's first born :) July 2, 2015
Witch Wow!!! This game is a hit for me. Two thumbs up!!! I have played and purchased all the Witches' Legacy games and was excited to see this one. It exceeded all my expectations. It is a very long game and I played for hours. Way to go BF!!! July 3, 2015
Witches' Legacy: The Dark Throne This game was a joy to play. There was enough of a challenge to keep my interest very high. It is interesting that the "Bonus Game" was actually better than the Main Game. I will play this game again! July 3, 2015
