LIKE SHERLOCK HOLMES TRYING TO SOLVE THE RIDDLES OF THE "G-RIDDLE-RS" OF THIS GAME A BIG THANK YOU to BFG for providing this game. I LOVE these games. It has been SO LONG since one has appeared on this game site! Yeah!! This is a form of Sudoku in which you must calculate which squares are filled in and which are not. ? Grids - 10 x 10 to 25 x 25 (if like previous games by this dev) ? No auto-fill, no multi-colors screens You must fill in your own X's for squares not used ? Collect coins in which to purchase hints ? Multiple "cases" of varying levels to play. Actually to me, there is no "story." ? You must play a complete series or you will lose your progress. They are basically grids (if like the previous games) which vary from 10x10 to 25 x 25. They are called "griddlers" by this dev, but they are also called "nonograms," E'Kaki" (Japanese) Paint-by-Numbers (by "Games" magazine), and "Pic-a-Pix" (by Conceptis Puzzles). At least for me, they, at help me focus and concentrate my thoughts while working on a project. I play these all the time. I like this game but I tend to like the another dev who also provides these game a little better. It is lacking some of the WOW factor of auto-fill and multiple colors. Actually, I did not discover any "story" for any of the "cases." I also dislike losing your progress by not completing a set of games in a series. You must start all over again - which is annoying. Nanogram heaven Yet another in the excellent Riddles series. Pure nanogram. My favorit series by far. There are no bells, no whistles, no frills, no pretty colors, no storyline..... (when I want all of this.....I go watch a movie...) :) July 8, 2015
Nice sequel ! Fun and relaxing gameplay, with some grridlers quintessence inside ! July 7, 2015
Hardcore griddlers rejoice! For hardcore griddlers. You know who you are. You dispise powerups. You accept hints, but pride yourself in not using them, and finishing a puzzle with no mistakes. You accept colors if they add to the complexity and make it harder, but are quite happy with a monocrome palette, and no chance of switching to another color if you get stuck. You just have to find that logical answer that seems not to be there, but is. This is what you like, so get it. September 1, 2016
SEEN ONE, SEEN THEM ALL This is a fill in the blanks grid game, sometimes called a mosaic game. There are 6 "cases" with 20 riddles (grids) in each case. You are allowed no mistakes, so if you want to achieve 3 stars for all the grids, you might be replaying some of the grids over again to do that. I know I sure did. Replays are unlimited. The grids start out not too hard, but get harder as you progress through the game. Most of the grids in the harder part of the game were 20 across by 15 down. Unless you don't want to sleep for a week, you cannot finish this game in one setting. I don't know how many times I quit and came back before I finished. If I had settled for only one star, of course, I would have finished more quickly. Each grid starts with 2 available hints. There is a store where you can purchase additional hints (4 at a time) or 2 other items that help you solve the grid. I couldn't figure out how the other 2 "power-ups" worked, so I just kept buying the hints. Points are needed to purchase items from the store. Points are won as you play the grid, but aren't credited to you unless you finish the grid. Sometimes I would finish a grid, even though I had already made a mistake, just to get the points. I never ran out of points to buy the hints. The only thing I wish could be changed in these games is the requirement of making zero mistakes in order to win all the stars for that location. Depending on the sensitivity of your mouse or the steadiness of your hand, you can sometimes click on a box without realizing it and, bingo, you have your first mistake. I enjoy playing these types of games and it is nice that they take so long to play. I return to them whenever I need a break from the other types of games. September 4, 2015
Round Two Nope, it didn't improve since the first Detective Riddles. There's not much of a story, even though the title leads you to believe otherwise, and the images you create are boring, in fact most of the time I didn't know what the image was supposed to be! This is a pic cross type game where you deduce which cells are filled (or crossed off) in each row and column with at least one empty cell between each set of numbers. Left clicking fills the cells and right clicking crosses them off, and the goal is to earn 3 stars per level, you get a star deducted for each mistake. All filled cells give you coins, and some of the cells have bonus coins, the coins can be used to purchase 2 starting hints, the right to make three mistakes or refill hints on that level. There are so many fantastic pic cross games out there with beautiful colors, this game has only army green colors, and is a definate no go for me. July 6, 2015
This nonogram fails in comparison to most Fantasy Mosaics I occasionally enjoy grid puzzles as an alternative to my preferred HOPAs. In recent months, the Fantasy Mosaics have become the cream of the crop. This installment of Detective Riddles only measures up in one aspect. It is that there are some challenging grids. In all other comparable areas Sherlock's Heritage 2 fails miserably. For starters, there is zero story. In the FM series, we have our little penguin which needs our assistance to reach his goal, whatever that may be. In this series, nothing seems to happen. Sherlock games do not offer multiple color grids, they are all the same monotone green. There is no accounting of what the completed grid is unless the grid is so overtly obvious, such as a candle in group one. If any player just wants tough grids and nothing more, this game probably satisfies. I never use hints so I did need to restart a few of the tougher grids. Overall, this game fails to measure up to my preferred Fantasy Mosaics. I gave 3 stars only for the grid challenge, in all other aspects the game is exceedingly poor. July 6, 2015
It's not Holmes; it's mosaic logic This is based on the demo only - I dislike it when reviews are posted only from the demo, but that fact isn't stated. This game is similar to World Mosaics, except the numbers are crossed off as you use them, which can be confusing. And it is similar to Fantasy Mosaics, except there is only one color. There is no story line whatsoever, nor is there any "picture" when the mosaic is completed. There were only 2 errors allowed, although I did not get into the more difficult levels, and there may be more latitude then. IMHO, the game might become boring; but on the plus side, it does seem to be a very long game, with multiple layers of difficulty, which might make it more interesting. July 6, 2015
Basic Riddles with no story. Good for beginners. Very simple puzzles mostly 10x10 grids. Just like the first one. No story at all though there is in the description of the games. Very much like the Asian riddles but without the nice relaxing music. Fantasy Mosaic just released #9 yesterday. I'd buy that right away if you want fun and a colorful challenging game. July 9, 2015
Meh. Might buy it on sale. I bought the first one, and was sorely disappointed. This dev doesn't offer any story, despite one being promised, in any of their picross games. It is a picross, and I'm addicted to them. However, this is kind of the bottom of the barrel. It's a fill-in until a better one comes out. No bells and whistles, just bare bones. The puzzles start easy, then get pretty hard by the end. I dislike the crossing off of the numbers as you go, because it is confusing. I also don't care for pictures that don't look like anything, though I personally don't mind single color puzzles. I also don't like the lack of autofill for the empty squares. That said, some of the puzzles are right difficult, and it will do until a better one comes along. I sure wish there would be some new World Mosaics or another GemSweeper. I like the stories in WM, and really loved the professor's corny jokes in GS. I'm not a big fan of Fantasy Mosaics, either, but they are better than this one. July 8, 2015
