Subliminal Realms: The Masterpiece Collector's Edition is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 95.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Long Game. Exceptional. Beautiful graphics, colors and scenes. The storyline is interesting. The CC edition is worth the money as its very long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A WONDERFUL AND INTRICATE GAME I purchased this game in 2015 but for some reason never posted my review so here it is now. In the past couple of years there have been several games released that have painting portals but, IMHO, none have been done as well as in Subliminal Realms The Masterpiece. When the game was first released as a CE I didn’t think I would like it but I did give it a fair shot and it ended up being one of my favorite games of 2015. The graphics are very good and quite colorful as we paint our way to the end of the game. One of the unique features of the game is that throughout our progress we help Albert complete his works of art. In each scene that comes to life there are many things to accomplish that will help us move forward. Fortunately, our tools include an interactive map that is very necessary in this game. We do have a helper, a flying dog character who can help us retrieve certain objects. I rather liked Smudge and didn’t find him annoying at all, in fact, I really enjoyed his sense of humor. All in all the game took several days to complete and I loved every minute that I spent searching for objects and completing Albert's paintings. Without hesitation I would heartily recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. I know that I am glad I decided to give The Masterpiece a second look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MY FAVORITE GAME EVER !!! This is only the second review I've ever given because I just really never seem to have the extra time but this game was so wonderful I felt like I owed it to the people who worked so hard to give us such a gem. I absolutely loved this game !! It had everything you could want in a HOB and more. I've been playing HOB games for about 3 years now and believe me, I've played ALOT of them and this is the best one yet. The story line was excellent, the graphics beautiful, the voice overs excellent and I even loved the mini games, which in 99% of HOB games I dislike because they are either too confusing or just too frustrating to deal with but the ones in this game were fun and easy to understand. I'm hoping and praying we see a sequel to this game very, very soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A masterpiece of casual gaming! Subliminal Realms: the Masterpiece CE Review based on full game + bonus chapter + extras PROLOGUE... The Masterpiece is a terrific story-driven game chock full of multi-layered HO scenes, and a wide variety of mini-games and puzzles. This adventure will take you through a myriad of surreal worlds populated by bizarre characters on an epic quest to restore reality. ONCE UPON A TIME... Albert is a fine arts painter with the bad habit of leaving his paintings unfinished. Generally, that’s not an issue. But lately, he’s been delving into the dark corners of his mind for subject matter, and these unfinished paintings haunt his dreams, turning them into nightmares. One night, Albert awakens from a particularly brutal dream: one of the portraits he’s left unfinished, using rough sketches brought to life as her accomplices, has kidnapped his wife and daughter and dragged them into her painting. This portrait is quite angry that she’s been left unfinished. Fortunately, another of his portraits is willing to act as his guide, and has amazing powers. However, Albert will have to draw on all his artistic skills to save his family, that is, if he can find his brushes first. He’ll also have to face the creatures that the darkness in his mind has brought to life in his art, and a real world truth that may destroy his mind. PLAY THE GAME... Adventure mode consists of traveling between the “real world” and the worlds of Albert’s various paintings. Each painting must be completed before its world can be accessed, necessitating find the brushes corresponding to the painting’s missing colors. HO scenes are the most diverse I’ve ever seen, and all are complex and multi-layered. For example, you might begin with six items, two on each of three panels. Finding those will unlock the panels, uncovering new lists, which might be silhouettes that are find and use in the scene. That eventually leads you to the final object. Or, you might begin with five silhouettes, which unlock items in the panels to be used in the scene. That gives you an object which unlocks yet another panel for a traditional interactive list. Best HO scenes ever. Puzzles and mini-games range from simple to difficult, and include both familiar and original. There were a few jigsaws (a wheel with wedge-shaped pieces, a grid with transparent pieces that overlaid it, etc.), matching pairs, find the differences, use mirrors to aim the colored lasers at their matching targets, etc. But among the original ones: • You’re presented with a wheel of masks whose expressions you can change. At left is the correct sequence, but you can only see part of it. Change the masks’ expressions, then press play to check your answer. • There’s a piece of unfinished embroidery on a machine. Each area contains three symbols to be sewn. The machine shows a selection of symbols, which may be rotated. For each, choose the correct symbols, then press the button to sew them. • A complex scale contains a large number of weights varying in size, shape, and color. There are four scale arms, each with a central skull. Swap the weights according to the skull’s eyes. • There are five busts. Switch their eyes, noses, ears, and necklaces until correct, then press the revealed buttons in the correct order. SIGHTSEEING... Given that the game is based on paintings, the graphics are beautiful. Every scene is rendered with depth of field so it looks like you actually can step into it. The colors are stunning, running the full gamut of the palette. And the NPCs are not only drawn well, but also move realistically, including lip synching. SOUNDBOARD... There are fifteen separate musical compositions, and they vary in style, tempo, and mood, so your ears will never be bored. I do wish they were downloadable, but I saw no “save” button, unfortunately. Ambient sounds were excellent, and voiceovers were professional and appropriate. TOOLBOX... You have a dual inventory: one for the “real world,” and the other for the world of paintings. Items can’t cross over. If they’re painted items, they can only be used when you’re inside paintings. The map indicates currently active areas and transports. And you have Smudge, the most awesome animal helper ever, an Egyptian dog with ethereal wings. He’s not annoying, he doesn’t take forever, and you don’t have to dress him, decorate his crib, or buy him toys. OH BOTHER! No technical difficulties on my iMac running OS 10.11.3. OOH! PIECE OF CANDY... In the bonus chapter, help Albert renew his artistic inspiration with a visit to his mentor’s house. Other extras include the SG, collectible slides which allow you to paint scenes from the game and install them in the gallery, the developer’s portfolio of sights and sounds, and a secret room. EPILOGUE... I definitely recommend Subliminal Realms: the Masterpiece, as it includes a great range of gameplay, superb HO scenes, original puzzles, a well-written storyline, lots of diverse music, and gorgeous graphics. I’m looking forward to a sequel. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get the CE! Excellent Game I made the mistake a reading the reviews too early and read some of the negative reviews that were totally Wrong! I have no idea what they are talking about, this was an awesome game, super long and lots of creative and fun things to do, places to go, very creative. Excellent map to make it easy for you when you have a bag full of items and don't know where they need to go. A bit too much talking but if you get into stories it's ok. The helper was ok, wasn't needed. Hops were interactive and had some variety, a bit too many of them for me, I prefer puzzles but at least they weren't just a bunch of boring junk piles to drive me crazy. I wish I had bought the CE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Spectacular Game! I haven't given a 5 star rating in ages to a hidden object game but this one deserves like 10 stars. I have decided that anytime I see the usual people who give 5 star reviews to everything rate a game low, I am always going to love that game! This game is out of the box, original, interactive as can be, great graphics, soundtrack, the whole works. The collectibles open up an artwork lair that you can color and I loved such an interactive change. Instead of just collecting junk to collect it, everytime you get 5 slides you get to go to a gallery and complete a picture. I love art & coloring so I became instantly glued to this game. Yes you are saving your family so its not a new theme but the gameplay is new. I never had to find a paperclip to open a zipper or find 10 butterflies etc etc ALL the hidden object scenes are interactive like mini puzzles but not in an annoying way. There are lists, matching, put objects back, put objects in the center, unlock locks that give more objects and on and on. Usually I get kind of tired of hidden object scenes but every time I hit one, I was ecstatic! They were the best part of this game! Something I haven't said for a very long time! I gotta say this developer has got me hooked. They are not very well known but they always keep me guessing and they keep getting better and better with each release. I am so happy a developer is actually doing something original instead of just copying other people! The voiceovers in this game are stellar! There is a helper that you paint that comes to life. I usually hate helpers but this one has the best accent/voice over ever! Because I enjoyed his voice so much, I didn't mind him at all and he really isn't very intrusive. The graphics & music are perfect for the game. The challenge on puzzles could be a bit better as I found most of the puzzles way easy BUT this game was so fun because of the hidden object scenes that I didn't mind having easy puzzles. The hidden object scenes give the challenge because most are HARD to spot items because they blend in! I was thrilled by this as I hate a click fest junk pile and this game does what I always want these games to do, give you something to actually search for! Thank you devs! The game wraps up nicely in the main game but the bonus game is an origins of sorts. You don't need it to understand the game but its fun and the hidden object scenes are still interactive and unique. This is a pretty long bonus chapter & not just thrown together hastily. You can tell the developers put their all into this game and I LOVED something out of the box & original. I know we have had painting stories before but this one is different in a sense and the hidden object scenes are the best I have seen in ages. This game actually gives me hope that there are still developers out there that are pushing the envelope & not getting stuck in a rut with quantity over quality. This developer does not have a lot of games under its belt but the games they put out are worthwhile!! That to me is worth sooo much more than the series' that have been around forever and have just gotten worse & worse as time has gone by & don't even really follow what the series was even about to begin with! I totally recommend this game. It gets better as it goes on and I am not even a big fan of fantasy but this game drew me in from the get go and since it was rated low by the "I give everything a 5 star review" people, I knew I would probably love it because most things they rate 5 stars, I think are the worst games ever!! LOVE the work devs I look forward to more games and more creativity!! KUDOS for out of the box thinking!!! MWAH~!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First review after hundreds of games! That about says it all. It's a marriage of Alice in Wonderland meets Timothy Leery. Beautiful graphics. Challenging without being frustrating. I played it from beginning to end because I JUST COULDN'T QUIT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best I've played in a while This is one of the best games I've encountered in a while. The story is complex and engrossing, with many changing scenarios to work through. The hidden object games are fun and more interesting than usual. The helpful companion Smudge is refreshingly lacking in cuteness and those dreadful BIG eyes. What more could you want!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing! Since "Drawn" and "Otherworld" for me this game is finally comparable. It is new and it is drawn fhantasticly. Even the HOs are different considering to always-the-same-games.
