Whispered Secrets: Golden Silence Collector's Edition 4.2 5 57 57
Mining The Spoils Of Evil Bonnie Turner has hired you to find her missing husband, Bill, who had sought work in the mines of Rockshire. When you arrive, you learn that the entire town has been shut down, and someone will stop at nothing to keep you from discovering the truth! Someone, perhaps Bill himself, has systematically hidden clues throughout the town with the hope that someone, anyone might be able to stop the evil that lurks within the town! This game starts out a wee bit slow, but picks up a nice pace as you progress, drawing you into the story. There is a Customizable mode, with a feature that makes the Mini Games more difficult, I highly recommend this option to seasoned players because even with this feature turned on, I felt the Mini Games were kind of easy. One of my favorite features of this series, is the Collectible Hidden Crystals. There are a total of 72, and each location has a specific number with a convenient pull tab on the left of the screen to show you how many there are in your current location. Once all of the crystals have been found, the downlow on the city's mystery will be revealed! Many of the inventory items are complex items that require some type of interaction before the item can be used, and there are plenty of Achievements to earn as well. The Red Panda has eaten his bamboo and as ready willing and able to help you once again to retrieve items in places only a panda would dare to venture! Another cool feature this series has are Picture Hints. When you uncover hidden pictures, you match the picture to the correct scene and location and wherever the X is on the picture, that's where you will find the next clue. The Hidden Object Scenes weren't bad, one in particular felt awkward, as you are tasked with finding interactive list finds whilst struggling with an attacker the entire time, and after the items are found, you had to trace a few jagged lines with a hand and knife cursor, just weird in my opinion. There are multiple finds, and silhouetted shape finds as well, and you can opt for a Match 3 game instead. A big disappointment for me came with the realization that most of the HOS are repeated, and that makes it boring so at least there's an alternate game available. The Mini Games are in abundance, I know some gamers loathe that but I love the Mini Games, in fact I would love to play a game that had nothing but Mini Games! I will list a few of the games available in the demo but keep in mind, I opted for more difficult games so I'm not sure if they are different. The first game has you flip over two tokens at a time to make a match followed by circular discs with sections to be swapped to create a picture. A lantern game where the goal is to light all lanterns. when one lantern is selected, others are affected. A picture on a wall with arrows on each column and row to nudge picture sections to the correct slot, a safe cracking code where you swap stained glass sections to create a mirror image, and a classic game of sliding tokens along designated paths so all silver tokens are on the top and all gold tokens are on the bottom. This Collector's Edition has Achievements, 72 Collectible Crystals, Music Soundtracks, replayable Hidden Object Scenes and Mini Games, Movies, Wallpapers, a Workshop (dev. diary and Concept Art) a built in Strategy Guide and TWO Bonus Chapters (Sister's Spell and Eternal Love) So get your HO game on and enjoy! ?MINING? NUGGETS OF ?DATA? TO LOCATE A MISSING PERSON ? AIDED BY A FURRY ?HELPER? BASED ON THE FIRST 3 CHAPTERS OF THE ACTUAL GAME - 8 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER As a detective, you are going to be ?digging up? some nuggets of information in a case involving a missing husband. This game boasts an amazing NEW FEATURE - THE ABILITY TO CHOOSE THE DIFFICULTY OF THE MINI-GAMES WITHIN THE MENU! There are an equal amount of puzzles and HOP scenes. You may opt to play a Match-3 game in lieu of the HOP scene. The graphics are realistic, the VO?s are nicely done. There is a helper in this game, a panda, (you do not have to name him, dress him nor decorate a room for him) which is used 3 times in the demo. Also, you do not ?pick him up? to use his services - he does his activities automatically and quickly so that he does not slow down the pace of the game. You will also locate some ?pictures? which, when matched up to the scenes, indicate the location of ?hidden objects? and clues within boxes to help you in solving this case. Besides the main game, there are two additional games provided. The three games are : ?Lost Miner,? ?Sister?s Spell,? and ?Eternal Love.? PUZZLES: The puzzles are very well done and the best part of the game. You have the ability to choose the difficulty of the puzzles as well. The puzzles include variations of sliding tile puzzles, matching puzzles, switching puzzles, manual dexterity puzzles, and sequential puzzles. There is also one multi-step puzzle in the demo. AFTER THE DEMO: SO AWESOME: Multi-step puzzle sequence with some moderately difficult puzzles, a logic problem and a balance puzzles. HOP SCENES: I felt this was the weakest part of the game with principally lists of items to locate. There is not as much creativity here. The HOP scenes are puzzle-like and interactive. In the demo I encountered one multi-step scene, which included a silhouette sequence. There are two instances where the HOP scenes opens up into a puzzle scene. Scenes are reused in locating inventory items. AFTER THE DEMO: Continued use of interactive lists. LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom Hints 10 to 500 seconds Skip 10 to 500 seconds NOTE: YOU HAVE THE OPTION THE MENU TO MAKE THE MINI-PUZZLES HARDER OR EASIER! There is also an option for penalties for random clicking in the HOP scenes INVENTORY: Puzzle-like and interactive GRAPHICS: Realistic, sharp images, nicely done. EXTRAS: Map is provided at the beginning of the game Helper ? a Panda? He acts more like an inventory item ? he behaves himself, sits quietly, does not wave nor grunt, and, best of all, he automatically does his duty quickly. You do not need to ?pick him up? to use him in the game. Now that is my kind of helper! BEWARE: The little fluff ball will snarl at you if you ?poke? him. 21 Achievements Collect 72 Crystals Usual wallpaper, movies, replay of HOP scenes and puzzles Strategy guide ? 68 pages HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFO ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN THE GAME IN SEQUENCE HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are interactive and puzzle-like. You have the option to play a Match 3 game instead. Most are interactive lists. A. Multi-step HOP scenes. Assemble a ladder by locating pieces and rope to build it, followed by a silhouette sequence, ending with an inventory item B. List of items to locate followed by a puzzle C, D, E. List of items to locate resulting in an inventory item AFTER THE DEMO: More of the same - interactive lists of items PUZZLES: A Multi-step puzzle. Matching disks followed by a variation of a switching tiles puzzle to create a picture B. Variation of a manual dexterity puzzle. Trace 3 symbols to defeat an attacker C. Variation of a sequence puzzle. Find the right sequence to light a series of lanterns D. Variation of a moving tiles puzzle to create a picture E. Variation of matching puzzle to remove floor boards following by a HOP scene with a list of items ending with an inventory item F. Variation of a moving tiles combined with a switch puzzle. Move colored glass segments into the correct location G. Variation of a switch puzzle. Switch colored tokens so that the color of the tokens are switched from top to bottom and vice versa. H. Variation of a sliding tile puzzle. Move tiles to form a picture. AFTER THE DEMO: AWESOME PUZZLES I Variation of a sliding tile puzzle ? create a picture J. Variation of switch puzzles combined with matching puzzle- symbols on ends of stones must match up in a continuous circle K. Variation of a logic problem ? figure out when a king died using numbers on a pyramid L. Variation of a sliding tiles puzzle ? create a picture by moving slats up and down to create the picture. M. Variation of a balance puzzle ? flip hourglasses so that the sand reaches the bottom on each at the same time August 6, 2015
Beautifully made, interesting story Best helper I've seen, he's there when you need him and gives a little growl if you click on him when you don't. No need to drag him to the location, he's already on the job. He's adorable too. The graphics are very good and the voice acting is terrific. The main game might seem like a re-do of similar storylines but if you keep playing through the two bonus games, it has a unique twist that explains everything. This is one of the best games I've played this year, high recommend. August 9, 2015
Excellent game This is a very high quality game. It has great graphics, good storyline, inventive puzzles and hidden objects, nice sound, a cute little animal helper, and a very good length. I highly recommend it. :) August 12, 2015
Loved it!! Thank goodness!!! Great game that last longer than 2 hours! This game reminded me of earlier Elephant Games... Fates Carnival for example. A great game with lots going on and very enjoyable to play. I was definitely impressed and will happily purchase again from this developer. August 11, 2015
OMG Love It Love It Love it Only about 30 minutes in it was all I could do to stop playing to write this review. With so many different "extras" to do that I've only seen in one other game with happens to be my favorite. I love that there are different "books" with different stories. (I get bored with the same ol same ol). This has the potential of being my current favorite. Allow yourself this treasure. August 10, 2015
A lot of game play This game was well done. Graphics were decent, voice overs were great, music was good. The cool thing about this game is that there are 3 games in one. Lots of game play. Interactive HOGs, clever mini games. The only thing this game missed was morphing objects, but there is so many other things going on, you barely miss it. August 14, 2015
A Treasure of a Game What a fantastic game. Great graphics, some new puzzles, from easy to no so, lots to do, have to give things some thought, jump map. This is a perfect game, giving it a wow factor, it is indeed a treasure. August 9, 2015
Golden Silence is absolutely thrilling to play... This is the third game in the Whispered Secrets series, Golden Silence and a game I have to talk about! The previous two have been of really high quality and you should not be surprised to hear that this one follows the same route. Even though story-wise, it doesn?t bring tons of originality to the table, I know that most hidden object adventures follow the same patterns and this particular one manages to do it best in the trilogy. When Bill Turner?s wife hires you to find her missing husband in a mysterious mining town, it?s pretty obvious that you have some real digging to do! It?s not clear what happened to the man, but it?s pretty obvious that the mayor and townspeople are clearly trying to hide something ? and they ever send somebody on your trail. It?s a difficult situation, but I?m sure you?re not a person who?s afraid of a little challenge. Plus, you certainly have some mystery solving skills already, and this story needs a happy ending ? one that you can bring! Even though the story itself has been said in the past, in a a way or another, Whispered Secrets: Golden Silence manages to come with a nice approach and the adventure itself is really enjoyable. You can make it as difficult as you want it to bee, with three different difficulty modes (and a custom mode, if that?s not enough for you) and, no matter what you choose, you will surely have a ton of fun doing it. I enjoy custom mode. The hidden object scenes are beautiful and varied (but in case you?re, for some reason, not a fan, you can play Match-3 games instead) with most of them being interactive list finds. The puzzles and mini-games are aplenty and challenging enough to increase the play time a little bit and offer much needed variety: from dexterity to moving/sliding puzzle variation and even some logic puzzles, it's got a bit of everything and the developers prove that they did their best to keep us as entertained as possible. The graphics are absolutely beautiful: a mixture between realistic and cartoonish, they are colorful and bright, with the mining theme being exploited to the maximum and turned into real eye candy. Surprisingly, even the soundtrack and all the voice acting are really good, which is something you don?t normally get from hidden object games. This is another proof, in my opinion, that the people behind Whispered Secrets did their best to offer us some real quality. Even though not insanely original or revolutionary, this title manages to do everything just right and it?s all in the small touches: from the beautiful artwork to gameplay elements and concepts (like the helper, for example, which doesn?t bother you at all and, well, really helps!), it's all here in the game. The Collector?s Edition also comes with more gameplay time in terms of new adventures, as well as achievements, wallpapers, team photos and collectibles. All these make it a great deal for your money, so you should really not ignore the CE if you have the money for the upgrade. I enjoyed the bonus chapter, but it isn't relative to the main story. This edition is my favorite and fans of the series will get to love as soon as they start playing! August 9, 2015
Something odd is happening - collect the sparkies This is third of the 'whisperings' and I am again enthralled. Just started the game and have learned that I am not very good at fighting a madman with a knife. And then there are those mysterious sparkles - collect them all - or suffer the consequences. Totally lovely game in a scary sort of way. August 7, 2015
