"WE ARE THE HUNGER, WE ARE COMING!" Sci-fi + Morphs....It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This! While everyone in the town of Arrowhead is busy doing their thing, Carl and Diana are tracking an amazingly fast meteor that's ripping through the atmosphere........or so they thought! This isn't a meteor, it's a spacecraft! The Roswell Incident is nothing compared to this crash, fortunately, this farmer won't have debris scattered for miles, because this spacecraft, I mean weather balloon, is completely intact! Planet Earth is in trouble, the Hunger is coming, and they are....well, they're hungry! This game was an immediate purchase for this sci-fi geek, the graphics are incredible, and the thing I love the most is how authentic the graphics are. From the rust plagued tractors to the sleek futuristic spacecraft, the artists paid immense attention to every detail. (notice how even the inventory bar transforms to reflect the difference from one planet to the other) The characters are real people, the locations are believable, and the game flows flawlessly. This game has everything you could possibly want, Plus Sign Complex inventory items, (requiring some type of otherworldly interaction) Interstellar Achievements (Out of this world), Star Memories (intergalactic gifts) Morphing Objects (within the HOP's) and 44 hidden collectible Rocket Symbols to find (if you're not too busy saving the planet) The Hidden Object Puzzles vary from the standard interactive list finds (again, the devs have done a great job keeping the items authentic and appropriate for each location) as well as finding matching and complex Symbols. There are even several smaller HOP's within zoomed in locations, finding items from pictures shown, or multiples of items that match the silhouetted shapes. Morphing Object Fans UNITE! My favorite feature of all time, Morphing Objects are available in the HOP's whenever you see the icon that replaces the Rocket Symbol icon, and they are very cleverly done, I will admit that it took me quite a while to find the Morph in the matching symbol HOP...and I loved it! The Mini Games, fantastic! Right from the get go, you get to drive a motorcycle at a neck breaking pace around sharp curves in the darkness! There are normal, fairly easy puzzles, repeating the sequence of symbols, and finding nodes that connect in length between batteries on the left and right sides. My favorite Mini Game was trying to sneak by the military guards, in three different locations which increased in difficulty each time, adding more guards and more guard dogs. You have to choose the most logical path out of three different patterns, AND you have to pay attention to the timing as well. This Collector's Edition has the Town of Arrowhead Party (Jigsaw) 15 different Achievements, Soundtracks, 44 Collectible Rocket Symbols (which will unlock the Rocket Hunt) Characters information, 12 Wallpapers, 21 Hidden Object Puzzles, Morphing Objects, replayable Mini Games, "Making Of" Videos, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Adventure, so get your sci-fi game on and enjoy! "A HUNKA HUNKA BURNING LOVE" (ALIEN STYLE) FOR A GAME WHICH IS OUT OF THIS WORLD Flying saucers and ETS! Rock 'n' roll back to the 1950's to flying saucers and a beautiful space age love story about two interconnected mind mates - Nix and Diana battling the World Eaters whose goal is to annihilate Earth. Ala Spock - It is "crystal" clear that you, as Diana, better use a "mind meld" with Nix or Earth is doomed! This game has it all - beautiful graphics, wonderful storyline, creative HOP scenes, and am AWESOME puzzles varying in difficulty. I LOVE THIS GAME! Such a GREAT GAME! I cannot wait to play the entire game. It has been a long time since we have had a decent sci- fi game. If you are a sci-fi fan or love the 50's, Elvis, rock 'n' roll, drive-in movies, UFOS, or aliens - this game is a must-have HOP SCENES: Puzzle-like and interactive. They include silhouette, lists of items to locate, specific amount of a certain item PUZZLES: Puzzles are well-done and vary in difficulty. There are variations of physics puzzles, dexterity puzzles (driving a motorcycle), matching puzzles, maze puzzles, Simon Says. Some of the puzzles require a sequence of three (3) scenes each increasing in difficulty. LEVELS: Stargazer, Astronomer, Cosmologist, Physicists (Custom) Hints 15 to 90 seconds Skips 15 to 90 seconds The game also indicates the amount of time you play in the game INVENTORY: GRAPHICS : Awesome - sci fi imagery. So beautiful and "crystal clear." Some of the scenes reminded me of the movie "Tomorrowland" or "Avatar." EXTRAS: Map - Map is given to you as you play the game - star memory You receive a Star memory bracelet and collect crystals to use it to restore memories You receive a walkie talkie you use throughout the game Strategy guide HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFO ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES: HOP SCENES: Variable and all well-done. A. Mini-HOP scene. Silhouette items to locate to create a lens casing for a telescope B. List items to locate C. Silhouette of parts of symbols uncovering crystals which create a bridge D. Variation of matching puzzle - connect nodes between batteries. EASY TO MODERATELY DIFFICULT D. Variation of a maze - get past guards Choose between 3 settings 3 levels - each level increasing in difficulty AWESOME LOVED THIS PUZZLE. EASY TO MODERATELY DIFFICULT AS YOU ADVANCE THROUGH THE SCENES E. Variation of Simon says with symbols 3 levels. which increase in difficulty as you proceed through the levels. There are many keys with the same symbol MODERATELY DIFFICULT DUE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THE SYMBOLS "CARL" - The adorable "geeky nerd." Carl is an adorable "geeky nerd" with a nasal voice - donning an awesome "bow tie" which makes this game humorous as well. He also has some awesome quotes from this game. HERE ARE A FEW CHOICE "CARLISMS" "I'm about to flip from excitement. Best night EVER!" " I believe my glasses make me look refined and elegant - and my mom agrees:" "I'd give my whole comic book collection to be there" "I could go dating but who would solve all the problems? " And, of course Carl could go dating but he still waiting for that special "her" to call him back. Sorry Carl - I hope so - but that may be light years away July 25, 2015
I want to be Diana again. And did you see Nix? Yipes! So here we are in a wonderfully crafted world by Mad Head Games. This game is exceptional and could be the best made game of the year. It will be hard to beat for sure. Mad Head Games is quickly rising to the top of the pack for games that are masterfully done. They push the game play in ways I could never have imagined. They took us to a typical small town in the 1950s complete with a neighborhood diner with 1950 cars seats for booths. We can order hamburgers, hot dogs and of course a sundae with a cherry on top. Diana has lots of friends along the way that we get to know and love. The locations are all so much fun and true to the period of the game. It reminds me of the old classic sci-fi moves where we start out with normal folks who get swept away by aliens. So fun. But this is much much more than a sci-fi movie. It is a story of love and loyalty against all odds. Good vs. evil etc. We don't get to see Diana but Nix and the Indian guy are gorgeous and so is Nix's dad you cans see the family resemblance. The US army was represented in true form with a powerful general and stoic soldiers. And who can forget the western movie in the making complete with a crazy leading man who is a bit on the crazy side. This is a game that will be fun to play over and over. there is so much to do. I have never been so pulled into a game... time stopped for me as I became immersed in the story and magic created by this stellar developer. I recommend carving out lots of time. Once you begin you won't want to stop and this is a long game. And I have to say a word about the bonus section. It also is done with great creativity..there is a jigsaw puzzle that is so cleverly done it rivals any of the puzzles I have seen that are stand alone games. They threw it in at the end. A picture of the diner with all of the great characters in the game chowing down. I loved it. The only other developer who is close right now in my book is epix. their games are also breaking ground in this genre that is otherwise becoming stale. Many thanks to mad Head for this one and keep them coming, Diana and Nix have to have more adventure together! July 28, 2015
IF YOU LOVE SI-FI, YOU WILL LOVE THIS GAME REVIEW FROM COMPLETED GAME, BONUS and EXTRAS I loved this game and found it to have a great challenge. There is: * Voiceovers; * Stargazer, Astronomer, Cosmologist and Physicist (custom) modes; * Interactive map; * Achievements (some with 3 starts to get in one achievement); * Find 44 rocket collectibles; * Lots to do in the Extras. The graphics are very colourful and crystal clear. Sound is very good and the music is mainly orchestral and lovely. The hidden object games are silhouette and straightforward. Some of these have a good challenge to them which I loved. There is one morphing object per HOS so please keep an eye out for it before you find the last item because you can't go back in the game. You can replay these in the Extras which also shows your percentage of how well you did for each HOS. There are a huge variety of mini-games and once again some of these had a good challenge to them. What looks to be quite easy can actually take much longer to do than you think - as I found out. The 44 rocket collectibles are pretty much easy to find. They are not hidden or too small, so you can just pick them up along the way - just check out each scene as you go through. As usual, it is hard to get all the Achievements - I've never accomplished this yet with Mad Head games, but I'll play the game again down the track and see if I can do better. All up the game, bonus and extras took me a good 10 hours, playing on Cosmologist (that is with Hint and Skip turned off). I had a great time playing this game. It has everything I like - brilliant graphics, good challenge and ITS A SI-FI. Definitely comes recommended. Well done Mad Head Games. July 31, 2015
Unique game Excellent gameplay, loved the graphics, the storyline, which is very different from usual HOP/adventure games. Minigames are also unique and different. The extras are worth it in the collector's edition. July 28, 2015
The best! I have been playing Big Fish games for years, every day. This is my first review. If you are into Science Fiction you will love this game. Unusual puzzles, unusual story line. Can't say how much I love it. July 29, 2015
Awesome Game I don't usually leave a review for games, but this one deserves a review. Beyond: Light Advent was the first game I truly liked playing in a long time. It wasn't dark like most HOGs tend to be lately and the hidden objects varied in at least 4 different ways. Even the music was great. I was disappointed when I reached the end. I will definitely play this game again. July 27, 2015
Beyond Epic This game is just gorgeous! From amazing artwork to fun and interesting puzzles , awesome gameplay and epic story! This was an instant buy, seeing it was sci-fi (with a mix of 50's). I just wish there was even more sci-fi in it! Hope to see that in the future sequels of this game ;) and more exo-suits! July 29, 2015
MAD HEAD GAMES ARE PURE GENIUS!!! Whether it be CADENZA, NEVERTALES and now BEYOND, the latest Mad Head creation in the Sci-Fi genre, these games have one thing in common... they are SMART, ELEGANT, ENTERTAINING, CREATIVE, and ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! The storyline was utterly genius applying theories of Buddhism (compassion, forgiveness, and interconnectedness), and Quantum Physics (concept of "bending time") to highlight the devastaing forces that are destroyng our planet and universe at large. The forces, called "The World Eaters", is a brilliant double entendre for the corruption and attrocities commited against our planet and the environment as well as the utter devastation. greed, and underlying corruption of war itself. There were also some twists and turns in the plot that may surprise you. The genius of a Mad Head production is that intelligent gaming and fun can co-exist seemlessly which (in my opinion) is a playful and powerful medium of social consciousness. So if you're debating between the SE or CO... I'd go with the CO all the way. Both the main and bonus chapter games were amazing in all the Big Fish rating criteria. I for one will testify to the fact that I played straight through with a smile on my face...the whole time. The CO is definitely worth it!! The HO games were varied and clear (LOVE THAT!... biggest pet peave is looking for a dot on the screen or an object that looks nothing like it's description). The mini-games were equally fun, entertaining and worthy of it's excellent creators. The art production is spectacular and the animation supurb. The result is eye catching scenes that are classic Mad Head. My absolute favorite were the retro settings on "Earth", replete with the drive-in's, 50's diners and cars as well as an equally cool collection of retro rockets (one in each scene)... a fun and welcome blast from the past and homage to the "space age" of the late 60's. If you happen to miss any of the rockets... no worries. You will have an opportunity to return to the scenes to win the collectable achievement in the "Extras" section after you finish the game. The music ranged from original compositions to musical soundtracks that at times reminded me of a country/Sci-Fi version of the "13 Skulls" music providing a wonderful soundtrack to an amazing game. The acting and voice-overs were also noteworthy. My favorite was a humorous depiction of a rather dramatic/theatrical actor, a bored equally despondent director and a mob-like bouncer that could have walked right out of Cadenza game and into the Beyond during the filming of a Western that was very entertaining. While they were periferal characters, they make a great example of the self-centeredness that often stands in opposition to vital goals such as our collective and sometimes, individual survival. I sincerely hope Mad Head is considering adding Beyond as a series because it is a spectacular game and genre.. because if you are, I'm all in. You guys "Rock(ed)-it!!!" August 16, 2015
At last something modern ! This game really change of the others. You travelling in world who are far from reality and I love it ! You've got the impression you are really involved into the story. A big thanks and congratulation to Mad Head Games. July 27, 2015
