Sea of Lies: Tide of Treachery Collector's Edition 3.9 5 31 31
Welcome Back To The Sea But Hopefully Not To The Bottom! What kind of storm is capable of sinking ships off the coast of St. Margaret's Island? The storm of treachery, thievery and lies! This could be the case that makes your career, or leaves you at the bottom of the sea, just like the Duke of Reddington, who suffered an untimely death after discovering some discrepancies in the Governor's records! The Navy has sent you to investigate the disappearances and heists, problem is, the famous Sea Ripper believed to be responsible for the heists, is aboard your very ship! I beta tested this game a few months back, and I was so excited that Sea of Lies had found it's way back to the sea, where it belongs. This edition has plenty of suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat, so fasten your seatbelt! There are Plus Sign Inventory items to tinker with, plenty of Achievements to earn, and 44 Collectible, but not so hidden Globes to collect. (they are unusually large) The Hidden Object Scenes are done well with plenty of variations in scenery and type. Most are done in stages, with interactive list finds and descriptions, but there are also Multiple finds that include an interaction to open up the list, of silhouetted shape finds. If you aren't thrilled with the HOP's, you can play an awesome Match 3 game instead. The Mini Games are plentiful, but kind of easy in my opinion. There are tokens that must be slide to match the background, Mermaids to put in the correct position to stop a waterfall, and a game that requires you to adjust silhouettes of ships using candle reflections. My favorite game requires you to select a starting point to move the token using directional arrows so that it travels across every cell without overlapping, for a total of three games that progress in difficulty. This Collector's Edition has 12 Achievements, 27 replayable Puzzle Mini Games, 18 replayable HOP's, 7 Movies, 8 Concept Art pictures, 8 Wallpapers, 9 Music Soundtracks, a Souvenir Room, 44 Collectible Globes, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. So get your HO game on and enjoy! July 30, 2015
WHAT SECRET ?LIES? AT THE BOTTOM ?OF? A ?SEA? VOYAGE TO A MYSTERIOUS ISLAND? REVIEW BASED ON THE FIRST THREE CHAPTERS OF THE ACTUAL GAME - 6 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER Ship ahoy! Off on a ?mystery cruise,? you, as Miss Hope, are called in to investigate why ships have been missing off the coast of St. Margaret Island. With ghosts, storms, smuggling, and the presence of an associate of the ?Sea Ripper,? this game has more twists and turns than the Bermuda Triangle. It will keep you guessing in this ?whodunit.? To me, the best part of this game were the puzzles. They are well-crafted and there are a few slightly tricky ones, including a 3-dimensional maze puzzle. I LOVE THIS GAME HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are variable and multi-step with a variation of silhouette, item lists, and cryptic clues. Most of the HOP scenes are lists of items. You may play a theme-related Match 3 game instead PUZZLES: THE BEST PART OF THE GAME! They vary in difficulty and include variations of sliding tiles puzzles, Simon Says, jigsaw puzzle, and a maze puzzle. My absolute favorite was a variation of a 3-dimensional maze puzzle. I also oved a navigation puzzle within the actual game. LEVELS: Casual, Hard, Advanced, Custom Hints 10 to 120 seconds Skips 10 to 400 seconds There is an option for penalties for error in the HOP scenes INVENTORY: Creative and puzzle-like GRAPHICS: Beautiful and ?seaworthy.? They are realistic as usual for this dev. There are some video sequences as well EXTRAS: Map - Map is provided as you play the game 12 Achievements Collect 44 very large globes which practically jump out at you Collect Souvenirs Strategy guide 33 pages for the game - 6 pages for the Bonus game Usual replay of puzzles and HOP scenes, music and movies CHAPTER 3: Ahoy mateys! You better don your pirate hat for this chapter. The game gets better in this chapter. I love the puzzles which I will replay. HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFO ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES HOP SCENES: All are multi-step scenes. You can play a theme-related Match 3 game instead. A. List of items to locate followed by a cryptic clue followed by another list of clues followed by a final cryptic clue to receive an inventory item B. List of items to locate followed by a cryptic clue for an inventory item C. Silhouette of a certain number of the same item used to create an item which is used to open up two lists of items to find within the same scene ending with a silhouette of with a final item to add to your inventory D. Mini-HOP scene - Silhouette of items to be found to locate an inventory item E. List of items to locate resulting in an inventory item AFTER THE DEMO: Not as many HOP scenes. F. Silhouette scene followed by a cryptic clue to receive an inventory item PUZZLES: Vary in difficulty and extremely well-done. There are some favorites here A. Variation of sliding tiles puzzle. Match each tile to the proper place on a picture. EASY B. Variation of sliding tiles puzzle. Move mermaids to the correct position to turn off water EASY C. Variation of a sliding tile game. Designate a starting point for a tile to move to cover all sections of a board without retracing your steps. 3X increasing in difficultly with each level INCREASING IN DIFFICULTY FROM EASY TO MODERATELY DIFFICULT D. Variation of a sliding tile game. Move ships so that their shadows match the background when illuminated. SLIGHTLY TRICKY - INVOLVING SEVERAL ARROWS E. A variation of Simon Says - Press arrows in correct sequence to open a cabinet. EXTREMELY EASY - you are given the directions F. Variation of jigsaw puzzle in the inventory in which you match two pieces at a time to create stationery. G. Create a bomb following easy directions VERY EASY H. Variation of a maze puzzle helping a pirate get his treasure AWESOME 3 DIMENSIONAL MAZE NOT TOO DIFFICULT IF YOU FOLLOW THE ARROWS TO THE CIRCLES It slides, moves up and down - opens new parts of the maze - moves sideways. AFTER THE DEMO: Puzzles get much better. I. Map puzzle/manual dexterity puzzle ? Lead boats to safety among the reefs. EASY J. Variation of a moving tile puzzle to create a picture on a dart board. EASY K. Variation of a pipe puzzle. Move cogs so their lines match up EASY July 30, 2015
Awesome sailing! Loved it! Enough intrigue, twists and turns to keep it interesting. No demented witches and witchcraft, no red-eyed demons--finally a great game with lots of fun and no gore or uncomfortable scenes with possessed spirits! Love that you can go back in the bonus material and collect globes that you miss and find souvenirs in each scene (wish more devs would pick up on this feature!). Has morphing objects in the HOS. More like this please! August 12, 2015
Great Bonus Play Really enjoyed this one and the surprisingly fun bonus features. August 5, 2015
Excellent Game! Wonderful graphics, colors, scenes and storyline. This was a long game and the CC edition was worth the money. It plays quickly and was entertaining. February 28, 2016
A must for Landlubbers - visit the Sea of Lies The graphics are superb with a great easy to follow story line. The colours are captivating. This has to be one of the best value for money HO games I have come across. I have played for hours and still to do the match three versions of the hidden object scenes. If you are looking for an introduction to HO gaming, this Collectors Edition is the one for you and remember look out for the globes and don't get seasick! August 30, 2015
Sea of Lies: Tide of Treachery Collector's Edition Another great game in the series August 2, 2015

Eipix, You've Changed On Me Based on main & bonus games It's no secret I love Eipix, and have since first playing Final Cut: Death on the Silver Screen. Yeah, yeah, there's been a decline in the quality of games regarding originality, creativity, (but not graphics--they're still A-1), and storyline. And the challenge in adventure and puzzles has been lax. But here's my take on it. It's very competitive out there, and once a game developer becomes popular, I can almost imagine a guy saying to his programmers,"Hey, I know it took a year to do the last hit game, but can't you do this one in a long weekend?" Of course, I'm guilty as the next gamer of wanting to see another Eipix game ASAP. So Sea of Lies is pretty, but suffers from trite adventure, HO scenes, and puzzles. Seriously, I'm tired of feeding nuts to squirrels, and hammering ladders together. Let's go feed a golden eagle and build an escalator, just to be different, okay? Other reviewers have covered the story, which was not memorable. The bonus game was very short, less than 30 minutes. There are maybe 45 globes to collect, and they stand out like Morehead Planetarium. If you get them all, a short comical film plays about the devs. No morphs, sorry. They have the usual souvenir room, which I like, and replayable puzzles and HOs. Credits still have funny remarks about the devs, which are always witty. I'll never give Eipix a three unless they totally bomb, because their production values are so high, but I'm longing for the time when they had the ability to put more thought and effort into their games.
