Forgotten Kingdoms: The Ruby Ring 3.5 5 11 11
Excellent Sequel To Forgotten Kingdoms: Dream of Ruin Time to restore peace and order in the Minah kingdom in Forgotten Kingdoms 2: The Ruby Ring ! When your hero Prince Tristan was just a baby, palace coup caused by the dark forces forced him to run away from the castle. During the coup both of his parents were killed. He was saved by his dear nanny who loved the young Prince so much that she risked her own life to save him from the shadowy figures which took away royal guards and the King himself, despite his magical powers. Nanny even had taken King?s ruby ring, which should belong to the current ruler of the Minah castle. And when Prince Tristan reaches age 18, she gives the ring to him?help Tristan to use the magical ring to restore his rights and become a king in this current installment. The story line in this edition isn't relative to the first game. I really enjoy this series, it requires brain power and should appeal to intermediate/advanced players. Beautiful graphics and voices. HO's that require inventory items to complete and challenging puzzles. I chose the CE over the SE. The Collectors Edition has Wallpapers, Music, Hidden Object games, an Art Gallery, Puzzles, Achievements, Hidden Crowns, a Bonus Chapter and of course a built in Strategy Guide which I highly recommend with this game, enjoy! use the ruby ring on the crystals there is a custom level and interactive map. a good hint system. the king and queen have been taken by a "shadow" and one of the women in the castle took off with tristan, the baby prince, and hid him away and raised him. when he gets near to his 18th birthday she explains what happened when he was a baby and gives him the ruby ring that belongs to the ruler of the kingdom. they go on a trek to find out everything they need to know and to find his parents. she tells him to never take the ring off but it is taken from him. he is then trying to continue because the woman says she can not help him anymore. sequel......i feel sure!!! Awesome game!! Super fast 10 second hint and skip button in custom mode!! Fun and exciting game for all to play!! July 24, 2016
Imposter! It is Prince Tristan's 18 birthday and his caretaker Naya, gives him the ruby ring that has been worn by every King of the Minah Kingdom, including his father. When Tristan was just a baby, the Shadows attacked his mother and father, and they haven't been seen since that dreadful day. Naya had no choice but to take Tristan to safety until he was old enough to claim his rightful position on the throne, and that day has come. The entire Kingdom has been consumed by ominous dark crystals, and the Ruby Ring seems to react to this strange anomaly, and even destroys them! (after completing a quick puzzle of course) When they arrive at the castle gates, they are greeted by an arrogant young man, Vincent, who claims to be the King! Only one man can be King, the one who wears the Ruby Ring, but who will the ring choose to be King? Yep, this is yet another another fairy tale story about a King and Queen whose baby was whisked away by the nanny in just the nick of time, and returns to face an evil ruler. The storyline is nothing new, but I really enjoyed playing this game, the graphics are decent, but does have an abundance of purple hues, the games are entertaining. If you choose the Collector's Edition, there are 60 Collectible Crowns with just the right amount of challenge to find them, and there are 20 different Achievements to earn as well. Both editions have Plus Sign inventory items which require some type of interaction before the item can be used. The only "helper" you have is a Ruby Ring handed down from King to King, each time you use the ring, you get to play a different Mini Game, which destroys the crystal. There are only a few Hidden Object Scenes available in the demo, and I was disappointed when the same scene was repeated. There are Silhouetted Shape finds where you find multiples of items that match the shapes shown, 3 horses, 3 bottles, 3 books and 3 gloves. There are also Interactive List finds, and a scene where you find items that match the word in yellow print, that a Gypsy fortune teller tells you in a story. Technically, there are some mini HOP's where you find a handful of leaves etc. There are Mini Games associated with the Ruby Ring, each time you use the Ring, you must first complete a game, which is different each time. The object is to break the crystals, once by making matches of every symbol after getting one sneak peek, the second ring game requires you to find the correct path by choosing the symbols in the correct order as shown, and the third ring game requires you use directional arrows to smash all crystals using the crystals as bumpers. The normal Mini Games are just as entertaining, my favorite game was a Honeycomb grid that requires you to fill in all the cells by moving the bee token in the available direction without overlapping. Some of the puzzles are really simple such as repeating the color coded music notes on a pan flute, or turning 4 tree ring sections to allow energy to flow from the center ring, to all four sections of the outer ring. Both editions are quality games, if you like Fairy Tale magical games. The Collector's Edition has 4 available Wallpapers, 25 Concept Art pictures, 18 replayable Mini Games, 6 replayable Hidden Object Puzzles, 11 Music Tracks, 20 Achievements to earn, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! good game if you like challenges--SE version I enjoyed this game, which I played in "Royal" mode. This game is good if you like a challenge. I had to use the hint button and walkthrough to make through the mini puzzles. I had to use hint for some of the HOS, which is unusual--it really makes you think. The graphics are beautiful, good storyline, the ending is quite elaborate. Just when you think you're done, nope, you have 5-6 more chapters to complete. Not sure why it has the negative reviews. It's a perfectly good game. Some of the actions you need to take are not immediately intuitive, but once you get over the hump, it's smooth sailing for a while until you get stuck. Anyway, give it a try. I did not play Forbidden Ruins, so I approach this game with no bias whatsoever. July 24, 2016
Good but not great I played the whole demo, which took less than an hour. The storyline is okay if you like this sort of fairytale/fantasy setting. Graphics are colorful and detailed, with pretty scenery. Voice overs are acceptable. I found a couple of mini-puzzles that didn't exactly work properly or had a bit of a timing glitch. So far there's good variety between hidden objectives (not my favorite) and mini-puzzles. Not yet decided about buying this game. Would like to hear from someone who has finished the SE version to see if it's worthwhile. Meanwhile I'll give it a tentative recommendation. July 24, 2015
Forgotten Game I was unable to finish even the trial - I only played maybe 15-20 minutes. It seems very old school especially because of the agonizingly slow Hint and Skip functions. Is this supposed to represent a 'challenge'? It is torture. (and I was on 'casual' so I just can't imagine what it would be like on the harder levels). I thought I would like the game at first and even went back and tried a 2nd and 3rd time before deleting it. It was just 'clunky'. Sorry ;o( July 23, 2015
Based on the demo only I've been playing these games for years, and the kingdom games just aren't for me, this story has been done to death. There are some adorable animals in this game and I think it would appeal to the younger set. The bonus had a lot of concept art and only 4 wallpapers (in 4 sizes) Concept art, and music to save really aren't on my list of go out of my way to buy for a CE. Really wasn't a fan of the hand drawn- or hand painted aspect of this game either. I prefer more computerized graphics that are crisp and easy to see your way around a scene, especially if your hunting for hidden objects. But for kids? Maybe they will love this one..... Not My Style I should have known a game entitled "Forgotten Kingdoms" wouldn't be to my liking. It isn't. I didn't last 10 minutes. But there are very pretty, clear graphics, kind of Zen-type music, strange runes, and a prince named Tristan, so if you're into that kind of thing, then you probably will. July 20, 2015
