Mystery Crusaders: Resurgence of the Templars Collector's Edition 3.4 5 33 33
Excellent game Although the playfield doesn't fit my screen,I very much enjoy this game. It has a thrilling storyline, the graphics are realistic and crystal clear and the minigames are nicely challenging. Also I can choose to play mahjong instead of searching for hidden objects, which is a very nice extra. Tank you devs, excelent job! September 19, 2015
King Solomon's Mines Endangered! The demo seemed to take about 5 minutes - always a good sign. I will definitely buy it! I enjoy the cartoon-like characters, and found the rest of the graphics well up to the high standards we have been seeing recently. I found the music dull, though I very much enjoy the voice-overs. The HOPs are pretty much standard, with the interesting 3-step ones. (Find something, use it on another thing so that you can find the third thing.) Some of those have no logic in the middle step; whether I enjoy those or not depends largely on my mood. I did skip out of a couple of puzzles, not because they were too hard but because they were time-consuming and I didn't want to waste demo time. Sunnyglow, I can't wait to get to the nonogram! I've gotten addicted to them recently. I play them when games are downloading - and frequently don't stop! My list of games I'be bought but haven't played yet gets longer and longer... Well, time to go buy this game, since there's a sale on! September 19, 2015
Engage in the quest as Natalie to lift the veil of lies in this Magnificant Mystery!!! Your partner Jason was shot while searching for the priceless relic in Mystery Crusaders: Resurgence of the Templars Collector?s Edition Game and now you will have to continue his work despite the danger of repeating his tragic injury at the opening scene! Jason was looking for The Blue Veil, which was lost centuries ago. Collectors all over the world will pay any price to get this artifact, but when you found out, how desperately members of the Shadows organization are trying to get the Veil, you started to suspect that there?s something bigger than money... be suspicious! Unfortunately Shadows will try to kill you too! After being shot Jason asks you to meet Sir William Theraux who has valuable information about the blue veil but refuses to speak with you until you show him you don't have the neck tattoo secret assassins have. Once you clear yourself Sir William gives you basic directives only to be kidnapped before your very eyes. Your initial quest is to piece together the codex which contains the map to King Solomon's Treasure, but this is a tremendous task full of dangerous twists and subplots. Brain teasing puzzles and unique HOS demand plenty of thinking and strategy in this unique story. The graphics are good, the cut scenes are even better and I love the british accents. You must be careful, the Shadows organization is right behind you, waiting for you to make a mistake. Who can you trust? You'll need all your wits to decipher the clues and assemble the Sapphire Codex. The race is on for the legendary treasure in this thrilling hidden-object puzzle adventure game! Thank you Big Fish for launching this intriguing Adult themed winner. xox's September 20, 2015
The more you play this one, the better it gets! BASED ON DEMO ONLY............ This game did become a buyer for me, the SE version. I would have purchased the CE if the goodies were better. IT NEEDED A SCREENSAVER! HINT HINT ha ha I loved the sound effects in this game. So many of the newer games now have this one new "go to" sound effect and thank God it was lacking in this one, considering how much you hear it! I loved the HOS in this game, old school list, w some addl. steppers. In fact I found most things were done great here, VO, movies, the diary holding the games storyline, how the characters speak, right down to a perfect portal task map with similarly perfect hint. Plus items in inventory. A couple of the mini-games I just loved, especially one with a fish tank with a mean Big fish. It was adorable and fun. I have to personally give kudos to the person assigned ARTWORK in the "storybook series" where you find several different items in the sketch (like 5 fleur de lis etc.).... At first it is black and white hand drawn pencil-- and being an artist myself,,,, this ENTIRE area is just OFF THE HOOK!!! I have played A LOT of these games and I have never seen more perfectly executed sketches! BRAVO!!! The pictures are cross sketched and once you find the items the sketch fills with color and a VO tells more story. If you haven't played this game yet look for the one with find 5 spears, and the lighter cross sketch of horses in the background IS GORGEOUS. Geez those little buggers were so well hidden!! NOTE TO DEVELOPERS My only problem was the standard size of this game looks to fit around a 15" computer. I play most of these on a large 27" monitor and the graphics degrade on the larger monitor. I would assume the hardcore Big fishers out there that play these games every day for many hours have the larger monitors for HO like I do........ so it would be great if DEV could start out with LARGER SCREENSIZE basic size of game with this in mind. I couldn't adjust it in the options. This a beautifully done, quality game! It is evident many blood, sweat and tears went into to create it. Thank you Bigfish!! October 18, 2015
TEMPLAR KNIGHTS, SHADOWY ASSASSINS AND A GREAT MYSTERY Ahh, a mystery game about Templar Knights and I am one happy girl. I love anything Templar and have devoured every mystery book that even hints at the renowned knights. In Mystery Crusaders Resurgence of the Templars there are secret assassins, the Shadows, to deal with as well as nasty hoteliers so you will definitely need to be on your toes as others try to prevent you from finding the truth. Our story begins as Jason is investigating stories of the Blue Veil, a legendary chest that has been buried under English soil for seven hundred years. The chest is said to contain a map to King Solomon?s mines, so right off the bat we know that everyone is going to want to get their hands on it and some will stop at nothing including murder and kidnapping to gain possession of the artifact. You will play the game as Jason?s friend Natalie who takes up the quest after Jason is shot when she arrives to meet him. Now you will need to step in and follow his leads in solving this mystery game. Even if you manage to obtain the chest, one mistake could be devastating and the map inside could be destroyed forever. The game offers four modes of gameplay: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore and Custom. In the Custom mode you can set the hint and skip recharge times in a range between 15 ? 100 seconds. The graphics are excellent, crisp and colorful. There are lip-synced voiceovers that are quite good and I love the British accent. There is an interactive transporter type map and it is located on a tab in the journal. Yes, there is a wonderful journal that keeps track of the story as we move through the game. Call me old school, but I love having a diary or journal that gathers my information as I progress. There did not seem to be much variety in the HOPS with most of them being slightly interactive list type scenes. I had some major issues with getting the interactive, windowed items to place once they were acquired because the programming is so touchy and we must hit the exact spot for an item to take. Maybe it is just me and this won't happen for you. Fortunately there is an alternate mahjong game if we don?t want to search for items and I did switch to that when I had difficulty with getting some items to take. Some of the puzzles are not those that we normally see but even those seem quite easy. I?m not sure they will get any better later in the game but hopefully there will be some challenge ahead. The CE is very light on extras and is quite bare bones with only the standards such as the strategy guide and bonus chapter. I didn?t see any collectibles, achievements, or morphing objects. If you always prefer the in-game strategy guide then you will want the CE for that reason alone. Unfortunately none of the bonus content is unlocked until the game is purchased so there is not a lot to see in the demo version of the game. I love the Templar related storyline and the mystery associated with the game and even though the touchy HOPS put me off a bit, because of a great sale this weekend I decided to buy the CE. Although the game is a buy for me, as always, I suggest you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy. September 19, 2015
Mystery Crusaders: Resurgence of the Templars Collector's Edition Another great hidden object game to play September 20, 2015
Fantastic Knights Crusaders Storyline I beta tested this game several months back, I love the storyline but something about the gameplay itself falls flat. The best way I can describe it, is that it's kind of like a B rated movie with those typical awkward camera angles, like it was filmed with a camcorder. The characters are almost lifelike, but cartoonish at the same time, with not so great lip syncing. I can overlook all of this because I appreciate it when devs think outside the box and try different styles, you make no progress when you don't try. In my opinion, there are too many HOP's and not enough bling to qualify for a decent Collector's Edition. This is a Detective game that delves deep into secret societies, the Knight's Templar want's to protect the legendary Blue Veil chest, which supposedly contains a map of great importance, and the elusive Shadows want to possess the Blue Veil for it's wealth. When your partner Jason Palmer becomes "unavailable" you are thrust into this investigation not knowing who to trust.....with good reason! The Hidden Object Puzzles are all the same, and just about every scene has one. They are listed item finds with several of the items requiring an interaction that progresses. For example, you pick up a knife and zoom into a teddy bear that has something sewn inside, you use the knife to open up the threads and expose an item that is used on another item which exposes another item and so forth. They are entertaining but not very challenging. You can opt for a game of Mahjong instead, but Mahjong is too boring. The Mini Games are not bad, some are old standards, others are either newer or have a new take on an old standard. 1) Swapping square sections of a circuit board so that all the color coded current lines match up. 2) Using arrows to rotate tumblers to find the correct combination of images that has been written in your journal. 3) Turning on a series of lights in order from top to bottom by following the wires from the light to the correct switch. 4) Locating 5 Diamonds, 5 Fleur-de-lis, 5 Spears, 5 Stars, 5 Flowers and 5 Crescent Moons hidden within several sketched drawings. (one of my favorites) 5) Following steps to create a library card, such as taking a photo with a camera, cropping the picture and using items in a specific order. 6) Connecting each Node to as many nodes as indicated on the individual nodes themselves. 7) Swapping Gems into the correct order so that they reach their matching slots when you click to activate the machine. This Collector's Edition has Concept Art, Wallpapers, Original Score, Bonus Movies, a built in Strategy Guide, and a Bonus Adventure, enjoy! September 19, 2015
A Bit Too Many Mini Games/Puzzles For Me Otherwise Good Game - Completed Game GAME FEATURES: Very shortly into the game you get a "Communicator" which looks like a beeper/pager to me. There are a few areas in the game where you can't move forward until you've completed everything. Once you've completed what needs to be done your "Communicator" here goes off and you are instructed to meet elsewhere in the game such as the Town Square for example. From there you get in the car and off to the next area. Other than the few areas there is quite a bit of back/forth (back tracking). I didn't mind. I love wandering around in the game. 4 play modes: Casual/Advanced/Hardcore/Custom. In the custom mode you can choose (or not) the tutorial, sparkles for HOS and/or active scenes, hint/skip charge up anywhere between 15 and 100 seconds. The hint is directional outside of HOPS. There is no way to shut off the black bar tip comments stating what needs to be done in the game. Journal: This holds some story, clues for the mini games/puzzles, and a transporter map. The locations are named however have to hover your mouse to see them. I no longer use maps. I check it out for my review writing during the demo. HOPS: These are all found by standard word list with some interaction. A bit on the Sanford & Son junkyard pile side. Some are very small. If you don't feel like doing the HOPS you can play Mahjong. MINI GAMES/PUZZLES: With exception to a couple these are just run of the mill in my opinion as I've seen them in other games on the Big Fish site however some have a bit of a different twist/take on them. CE EXTRAS: Bonus Chapter Strategy Guide 9 movies (replay of cut scenes) Wallpapers, custom art, music Achievements: NO Collectibles: NO Morphing Objects: NO OVERALL IMPRESSION: VISUAL/SOUND QUALITY: I thought the graphics just great. I really welcomed this compared to most of the games that have been released and that is way too much blue, pink and purple color. They displayed just fine on my computer screen. I really liked cut scenes. I also had no problem with the character animation and thought the voice overs a well done however sometimes the characters had lip sync, sometimes not. The only time the lip sync bothers me is if the characters mouths are moving but no voice. That wasn't the case for me. My characters had a voice to them. The music was just fine. I have nothing bad to say about that. LEVEL OF CHALLENGE: Overall I found this game to be pretty easy and that is fine as every game doesn't have to be hard. With this said, while I don't mind an easy game but I still don't like the black bar comments stating what needs to be done in the game. I find this so annoying. If I need help I will use the hint. To the developer here: Please work on to have an option in the custom mode in your future game releases to shut this off. STORY LINE: While the story line is definitely nothing new having to find/save the lost treasure however the opening cut scene had my attention and held my interest to the very end. This also had a couple twist/turns to it especially in the bonus chapter. I thought it was well told. The main game came to a conclusion for me however the way it ended also had me wanting a bit more. Sorry I can't go into any more detail. I would definitely spoil it. The bonus chapter definitely continues the story. It takes place 3 months later. All new locations. There are none from the main game. GAME LENGTH: This is 5 chapters plus the bonus chapter. Main game for me was 3 1/2 hrs. and bonus chapter was another 1 hr. however I skipped most of the mini games/puzzles and not because they were too hard, I just found most of them boring/tedious/repeated a bit too much. I prefer HOPS over mini games/puzzles. I'm not a fan of these though. If you like/love enjoy mini games/puzzles then you may like them. FUN FACTOR: Overall I give this 4 stars. The story and using the communicator I really enjoyed that and made me rate this game higher More important than that I rated this game higher because while this (Indie) developer was founded back in 2007 I've only seen 5 games from them released to the Big Fish site and I really want to encourage this developer to keep making games. What kept this from being a 5 star winner for me was a bit too many mini games/puzzles and the black bar tip overload comments stating what needed to be done in the game. As for achievements, collectibles, morphs these things are no longer a part of my buying decision. Having said this: I still see and understand why they are expected from some game players as they've become an extra in most of the games especially since the CE cost twice as much as the SE unless of course you can get it on sale which I did. It was worth the $7.99 I paid. As always give it a whirl and decide for yourself. September 20, 2015
A Very Enjoyable Game I've had a run of games I didn't enjoy very much so I was happy to find this one which I really did enjoy right through the bonus game. The plot is fun but doesn't make a lot of sense if you think about it. The hidden object scenes aren't very interesting but I found the mah jong substitute games went very quickly and nicely. Other reviewers have said about all that occurs to me except maybe one thing. As i try to think why a game which doesn't boast the flashy touches the central three or four big developers put in , should be so much more fun to me than the big guys' recent games... I come to this. That perhaps it is like the charm of old radio drama which leaves more to the imagination than we have become used to now. also perhaps I am,and some of you may be too, a little tired from the house styles of the familiar developers. Anyway I am thankful for this game and the pleasure of it and recommend it to you! September 24, 2015
JOIN THE CRUSADE TO UNCOVER A VEIL OF SECRECY AND WIPE OUT ALL HIDDEN SHADOWS OF CRIME BASED ON THE FIRST 3 CHAPTERS OF 5 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER After witnessing your friend Jason shot by a nefarious crime syndicate, the Shadows, you, as Natalie, are off to continue his work in stopping the Shadows from stealing a priceless Templar relic, The Blue Veil. This is a mutant ? the splicing of a HOP game with an adventure game. The story is excellent. The mini-games are well-crafted with a variety of different styles and difficulties (6 puzzles in the demo). There is an equal number of HOP scenes (5 in in the demo). One ?puzzle? is actually a combination of six mini-HOP scenes. The HOP scenes are redundant ?all of them are lists of items to locate. However, they are interactive with some puzzle-like aspects. You have the option to play Mahjong instead. I also found the graphics old school. The VO actors have heavy British accents and at times there are mouth movements by the characters and other times, not. I have a great interest in the history of the Knights Templar and love great puzzles, so this game is a must for me! This would have been an outstanding game if the dev had provided a little more creativity in the development of the HOP scenes. I beta tested this game about eight months ago. It has been in production for about a year. This game does not have all the bells and whistles of the HOP CE?s. There is no ?wow? factor in this game. You collect nothing, you achieve nothing (except the thrill of solving the mystery) and there are no morphing objects or any other gimmicks. It is a pure adventure game with the added twist of HOP scenes. We have a strange new creation here. The stodgy Nancy Drew mystery game entering the world of the HOP scene! Wow! With the discounted prices on games this weekend, it is worth the small investment to purchase a game which will prove to be quite an adventure! AFTER THE DEMO: The game continues as before. It is definitely puzzle-heavy and HOP lite. It also appears to be a short game as well. There is an awesome ?nonogram? puzzle in the Chapter 3. There are also a maze puzzle and a variation of a checkers puzzle. The HOP scenes I encountered were again all interactive lists of items. LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom. Hints and Skips - 15 to 100 seconds GRAPHICS: Old school graphics. The VO actors have heavy British accents. Sometimes there is mouth movement for the characters and other times not. HOP SCENES: There are 5 HOP scenes in the demo. All are the same ? lists of items to locate. They are somewhat interactive and have some puzzle-like qualities. You may opt to play a Mahjong game instead. All of them are the same with the exception of one which is considered a puzzle; however, I see it as a series of mini-HOP scenes. AFTER THE DEMO: HOP scenes are again all interactive, puzzle-like lists of items. MINI-GAMES: There is a variety of difficulty levels and varieties for the puzzles. They include variations of moving tiles puzzles, sliding tiles puzzles, sequential puzzles, Simon Says, and mathematical puzzle. AFTER THE DEMO: Variation of a nonogram puzzle, maze puzzle, checkers puzzle. EXTRAS: Map is given to you at the start of the game Strategy guide - 37 pages Usual wallpaper, artwork, music HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE MINI-GAMES: A. Variation of a moving tiles puzzle Move tiles so that ends of circuits in a key card match up EASY B. Variation of a sliding tiles puzzle. Move 3 tiles to match a code to open a box. Slightly tricky ? Moving one tile affects the others. MEDIUM DIFFICULTY C. Variation of a sequential puzzle. Light up lights in sequence from first to last by following a twisted mess of wire connections to the proper switch D. A variation of Simon Says puzzle. Follow directions to create a library card. EASY E. A variation of a storybook sequence. Locate 5 items of the same type item in a series of 6 scenes. This is listed as a puzzle; however, I consider it more a HOP scene. Find out more about the Knights Templar F. A variation of a mathematical puzzle. Connect nodes with each other to match the amount of connections with the number listed on each node. MEDIUM DIFFICULTY G. Variation of sliding tiles puzzle. Transfer crystals so they match up with their color coded slots. However, the crystals revolve around three wheels to add to the difficulty. MEDIUM DIFFICULTY. AFTER THE DEMO: H. YEAH! A NONOGRAM PUZZLE!!!! SO HAPPY. I LOVE THESE! I. A variation of a maze puzzle. Get the Templar to his banner in the center of the maze. J. Variation of a checkers puzzle. Using gold coins, try to eliminate your opponent?s silver coins from the board. September 19, 2015
