A Game Not To Be Overlooked It's a road trip to Granny's house! Rut Row, all roads are blocked, and little Jake is complaining he feels strange. You get out of your car to investigate the fallen tree blocking the road, tell Jake to stay put, and the next thing you know, he's heading towards the manor up the road! Somehow Jake manages to get inside the manor while you are still trying to figure out complicated locking mechanisms and scrambling around searching for passwords! Once inside, you are dismayed to find the place in shambles, even weirder, this manor was used for paranormal experiments but everyone's vanished. What happened here and why is Jake acting so strange? I love this game and I love the computer generated graphics. The devs put a lot of thought into this game, and there are so many different locations to visit, this place goes on forever! The clues you discover will be held in your journal, you will need to refer to the journal because these games require those clues, and there's no hand holding in this game, you'll have to think about most games and tasks....and that I also love! There aren't any HOP's that I've seen so far, but the mini games are crazy fresh and crazy entertaining. Below are some brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Line up the first leaflet page onto the second page to receive clues that align with the holes. 2) Flip several switches in the correct order. 3) Set the password using the encryption wheel in the center, refer to your journal. 4) Untangle the dots so that no line intersects, and there are a ton of em. You will need to use the map as well as the journal, and this is one of the best games you have played in a long time, enjoy! January 19, 2016
No Walk In The Park...But Capital F U N! I didn't even finish the demo because knew that I have to play this game. I don't understand the "Hidden Object" label, because I haven't found any. What I HAVE found is a maze of places to roam, in search of ANYTHING I can find, to help solve the tasks that will, ultimately, help me solve this riddle. I think I'd call it an adventure/puzzle game. And, the puzzles are not a walk in the park, for me. The first one I was able to find involved finding the correct sequence of TEN switches. I had to WORK for it! Lol. And it just made me more determined to find MORE. My kind of game! NO skipping. NO hand holding. There IS a re-set button on the puzzles that require it. I'd recommend the tutorial, because the mechanics are a little different. Graphics are excellent. No voiceovers. Perhaps a bit old school, but it didn't matter. If you want to oil up your little gray cells...I say PLAY! Oh...and when it says that you have to close each window by clicking on the "X"...ignore it. You can click outside the window and it will close. For those who haven't already played it, I've put another game that is one of my favorite fun challenges, to the side. Happy "do it on your own" gaming! I'm using a game coupon, but I would happily have paid for it. Thank you Devs and BFG. Hope YOU find some fun today! January 18, 2016
AN EXCELLENT "SLEEPER" GAME THAT CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE Every once in a while we get a great ?sleeper? game that turns out to be wonderful and Parallels Cross is definitely that game and one that is worth keeping. The storyline might be familiar but that is okay with me because the gameplay makes up for what the story might lack in originality. The graphics are surprisingly good but there are no voiceovers. The written dialogue is understandable and that goes a long way in making up for the lack of voices. There are not a lot of bells and whistles in the game so what you see is what you get. Your tools include a journal and an interactive map. The other tool you need to rely on is your brain along with your ability to solve problems. It seems like it has been so long since we have had a good game where there is no hand-holding to guide us every step along the way. There are some great puzzles in the game as well as good HOP scenes. In some ways the game plays more like an adventure game as we go about finding solutions to the problems we encounter. Yes, in many ways the game seems rather old school but in other ways its simplicity achieves a level of challenge that is missing in some of the glitzy, more polished games that come along each week. Parallels Cross is not a game that you will rush through as it will take some time figuring out what needs to be done where and using what. My little gray cells will surely get a workout with this game ? something that has been missing in most HOPA games for quite some time now. Actually finding solutions without glitzy cut scenes and being led by the pinkie to the obvious can be lots of fun. If you like challenges without in-your-face solutions and stimulating gameplay, then Parallels Cross might be just what you are looking for in a game. Even though the game was an instant buy for me, as always, I recommend that you try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy. January 18, 2016
FINALLY!!! The best game in ages. Yes! Finally a game for pure puzzle lovers. None of them annoying HOS, and it has amazing puzzles. You really have to use your brain and the puzzles takes time to solve. A real gem. I really cannot stand HOS since I don`t need to exercise or strain my eyes. I play in expert mode with no hints or skips. This is a really fun challenging game. Please, please, please make a sequel! January 20, 2016
Great SE adventure game! I was very surprised when I was playing the demo of this game because the game shut down...I had played for 60 minutes straight! This is not--at least for the first 60 minutes--an HOG, but an adventure game with challenging play even on the normal setting. The graphics are great, the scenes have originality to them, and I was getting more and more pulled into the story as it went along. The 'cons' to this game are an unlockable inventory, and having to close every black bar hint and zoom scene, which normally would drop it down a star, but the puzzles and challenge are so good, that I decided to stay with 5 stars...particularly as this is a SE game. Try it! January 19, 2016
Something a bit different and well worth the price. If you're looking for just another HOP, this one isn't for you. But if you're looking for a challenge, with puzzles that make sense, I highly recommend this game. No walkthrough, but the forum should help with any small issues. I'd love to see more games like this one. January 18, 2016
awesome adventure game!!!! REALLY worth investigating. But only if you like adventure games in their truest sense. No HOGS, no sparkles, and no helpers. All totally fine by me! Wow I feel as though I really used my brain for this game and loved the challenge. Intriguing story and now I really want more.... January 19, 2016
Don't overlook this game!! This is a great little game. More adventure than hidden object. The only thing that bugged me is that the inventory didn't have a lock to keep it up and it kept popping up and down. Other than that, It's kind of old school, but a buy for me. January 19, 2016
Fun and Challenging This game was so much fun for me to play. The mini games were difficult and challenging, but not to difficult to figure out with some thought. I appreciate being on my own in a game and don't like being spoon fed every next move. There are times I appreciate easy games as well, unfortunately we are rarely given a great game that makes us think anymore. I think developers are underestimating their clients and we should have more games like these. I would have enjoyed voices, but it really didn't bother me. I was so engulfed in this game and found myself playing when I should have been asleep. I can't wait for the next game to be released from these developers. I enjoyed every minute. January 20, 2016
Excellent! A Nice Change From The Usual. I really liked this game a lot. Science Fiction without HOPs are by far my favorite type of gameplay. Very different. The developers used some imagination to create this game. The puzzles were hard enough to make you work at solving them. A few I had to skip as it was taking more time than I wanted to spend on them. I will have to go back and replay the game and try to do a better job of solving the puzzles I skipped. Thanks to the developers and Big Fish for giving their customers a welcomed change.
