An interesting twist on an ancient story This review is based upon my having purchased and played the entire game. I loved the little notes (shown as wolf holograms or shadows) telling us the history of Little Red Riding Hood in various countries and forms. As a previous reviewer stated the game is heavy on HOS with some puzzles. A note to the confusion about the flowers: the fleur-de-lis is definitely a flower, fleur being French for flower and lis being lily or sometimes called an iris. Some of the music reminded me of the old game show The Match Game which other old-timers will recognize. The graphics were great, the game itself was great, hint system worked well, no nonsense and fun. I do wish it had been concluded with the marriage of the werewolf and Red, but all in all, I'm very happy with the game. December 2, 2015
Old style game, but tolerably fun Instead of the Big Bad Wolf wanting to eat Red Riding Hood, he wants to marry her. It's awfully simplistic. Old-school. And there's an awful lot of talk talk talk. In writing. But sometimes it's pretty and sometimes even beautiful. Except for the big white icons and arrows that are always on the screen. Two of the musical themes were great, the little one that starts out sounding line a music box and the piano one. Except for the HOPs, it is click and drag, not just click. Which is not so good for my elderly elbow. Hint recharge is at least 30 seconds, which was semi-OK mostly. But in one HOS, things were invisible, so then, waiting for the hint seemed interminable. Too many HOS and not enough puzzles for me. The inventory stayed hidden unless you clicked on it. Great feature. HOPS: ==HOPs are just word lists, so not that interesting. But it's good that I can just click on everything and get through them. ==There is a click penalty, though it is not too annoying because you have to click fast & close together to set it off. ==Some items were oddly named, I thought. The one I remember=I was supposed to find 2 flowers. One I never saw, the other was a fleur de lis. Didn't think to click on it because, despite its name, it is a symbol of French royalty to me, not a daisy or a rose. MINI-GAMES =Directions to mini-game #1 were not really correct. The puzzles was not "grouping the symbols" so much as it was chaining them together. What characteristic to use to order them was, at first, unclear, but I figured it out. Though easy, it was fun. =Mini-game #2 was impossible, though, and I skipped it. =I never found mini-game #3 before the demo time ran out. Did I say not enough mini-games? But despite all these quibbles, I had a good time. That's why 4 stars. Try it, you might like it. November 30, 2015
HO HO HO! 'Tis the season for hidden objects... Red Riding Hood-Star crossed lovers is all about the HOs. It is one scene after another and it is just fine for me, and others that can't get enough of this genre. The quality of this game is quite good actually. This game is part of a series of games from same Developers and they are pretty much the same. Relaxing, good graphics, lots of HO scenes and extra image to locate to obtain some inside tips. There are also easy to solve puzzles and find an object and place it somewhere scenes as well. Hint recharges fast enough, though I hardly use it as the objects are clear enough to notice. The music is OK and ambient sounds are well placed in the background. The story is refreshing, new twist on the good old story of Little Red Riding Hood, the dialog leaves much to be desired though. The game runs smooth and it does not get my laptop to overheat, which some heavy duty games on bigfish usually like to do. Reason why I gave it only 4 stars: dialog is not smart and the font they chose for the list is annoyingly annoying. I do recommend to at least try and see for yourself, but for people that like relaxing HOs games, this will be another one to have fun with. December 1, 2015
what i didnt and did like about this game huge pointer cant turn the sound or music down just have to turn them off you cant pause the game you have to exit it out to even minimize the game and then sometimes it will The game was fun kept my interest needs some twinking but would recommend December 1, 2015
Hey There Little Red Riding Hood..... This game has a humorous take on an the classic fairytale, Little Red Riding Hood. Red isn't a naive little girl anymore, in fact she's all grown up and has a little bit of a tude in this love story. The Grey Shadow is none other than the Big Bad Wolf, but he's no ordinary wolf, he's a werewolf, not just any werewolf, he's Red's beau! This odd couple has a bit of a dilemma this afternoon, the Grey Shadow's brother's are expecting him to bring home his first human prey, and they want Red to be the first! Well, these two lovebirds have decided to run away, far away from their adversaries and spend the rest of their lives together, how sweet! This is another "Click and Drag" game, where you can click on the screen and drag the entire scene around, as well as zoom into any area desired. There are 50 Wolf Icons throughout the game that give you factoids about Little Red Riding Hood, written in 1697 by Charles Perrault and a similar version written by the Grimm Brothers. This is one feature that I actually enjoy about this type of game. The story is simple, and humorous, but I've never been a fan of this old school type of h2o game. This game can become repetitive, every location has a Hidden Object Scene, each HOP is exactly the same, with nothing but text listed items to find, many of the items require finding multiples such as 3 feathers, or 4 flowers. There are no interactions, no silhouetted shapes and no puzzle to solve, just listed items. There is usually a puzzle or mini game of some sort in each scene as well, such as putting a torn letter back together, matching up key components on a lock or turning fragmented picture icons to complete an image, where some tokens are affected by others. If you like click and drag games with a bunch of Hidden Object Scenes and several simple puzzles to solve, this one will delight you. As I said before, this old school type game has never really appealed to me. November 30, 2015
A HUMOROUS RETELLING OF THE CLASSIC TALE Red Riding Hood Star Crossed Lovers is an updated retelling of the classic tale and, IMHO, this one is hilarious. Red, as she is called in this game, has had a long-time friendship with Grey Shadow, who by day is a rather gorgeous man but one who changes into a werewolf when the moon rises. It seems that Grey Shadow?s brothers had demanded that he present them with a human for their next feast and lo and behold the main item on the menu is none other than Red. Given the alternative, the lovers have no choice but to run, and this is where the fun begins. Technically, the game leaves a lot to be desired. It is a fairly basic HO game with a few puzzles thrown in to break up the tedium of looking for objects at every turn. Don?t get me wrong, I love HO games but have come to appreciate the finer details and polish of most recent games in the genre. Although the graphics are very good, it is apparent that the developer most likely lacks the tools or expertise to present a seamless game. For instance, in the opening scene when Red moves along to path, she fades in and out as she progresses rather than walking toward the viewer. There are no options to speak of so unless I want to turn off the music for the game I am stuck listening to the annoying music that plays during a HO scene. There are no voiceovers so we must read the dialogue. When a scene changes there is a pop up bar that fills before we enter either a HOS or a new location, and although the bar fills quickly it is still annoying. Then there are the arrows that are in abundance at every twist and turn in the game. There is a journal but its pages remained blank during the demo so I have no idea if it even works. We do not have a map so it looks like we are on our own to navigate ? well, except for those arrows everywhere. When you enter different scenes there are wolf heads scattered around that when clicked will bring up interesting fact cards that give the background and other information about Red Riding Hood The HOS are straightforward with no interaction required to find certain items. Some items are difficult to spot because they are either hidden in shadows or are very tiny. Even with the lack of sophistication, the game is still worth picking up on a sale, or if you need to fill a monthly punch card. The dialogue alone makes it worth the price of the game. If you are a true fan of the genre and hunting for objects, then this is a game you will love; if not, then you might want to skip it ? unless you want a good laugh as you read the dialogue. For me the game is a definite keeper since I am a diehard lover of the genre but, as always, please try the demo to see if this is one you will enjoy. November 30, 2015
Werewolf Doggie in Love This is a very short game. The artwork is simplistic, Here are the + and -. Pros: Many wolf icons to find with everything you ever did (or not) want to know about the fairy tale Red Riding Hood. Very good HOS, well hidden objects which suited the game Funny expressions on the Were-Wolfs face as he tries to sort out his feelings for Red. Very funny witch character that helps the pair to escape Cons: As the game constantly reminds us this is one of the oldest tales in the world, so no real surprises. VERY short game. Animation is very amateurish and stiff. If you really like HOS, and courses in world literature/myths this has a definite appeal. What saves it is a sense of humor around the Wolf, and the weird old witch. I recommend saving this for a free credit: but try it first! December 2, 2015
Had potential Had fun playing this, it's a pleasant game to play when you don't want too much of a challenge. Would have been better if it had voices instead of having to read the script. My biggest issue with this game was how incredibly short it was. Only took a little over the one hour trial, which made me feel a bit bummed that i paid for it...even with a discount. I enjoyed the refreshing take on the little red riding hood story. So i would recommend playing the trial, but not to buy. December 2, 2015
Way Below Average ... Graphics OK, Sound Very Average With No Thrills Or Frills ... Scenes OK With Lots Of Repeating HOG's ... Probably The Lowest Quality New Release Of The Year ... If You Have A Voucher To Use Up It's Worth A Go ... December 5, 2015
Mixed feelings on this one I like hidden object games and this has a lot of HOS - along with mini games which aren't my favorite mainly because I buy games for the HOS not to get bogged down with MG's. The constant chat was annoying as was the music in some of the scenes. Possibly a foreign developer since ladybugs were referred to in the HOS as "ladybirds," and some objects were very hard to find. Hint button loaded as expected. Not too clear on a few of the scenes just what was wanted or needed. So am not going to recommend or not recommend - just give my take on it. This game like all games will appeal to some and not others so you just have to roll the dice and take a chance it's your cup of tea so to speak. December 1, 2015
