Immortal Love: Letter From The Past Collector's Edition 4.1 5 36 36
A Curse Of Immortal Proportions Jacques Perrault has been in prison for nearly two months now, his crime, kidnapping the future Countess, Angelica! Jacques has no clue why he would attempt such a crime, he doesn't even know this woman! In fact, he doesn't remember anything! All that's about to change, and he soon realizes that he's the victim of a curse that has wiped away all his memories, D'Morten's curse! Turn's out Angela and Jacques share a love that runs deep, an Immortal love, a love that Count D'Morten cannot allow because he wants Angelica to be his wife, wife number 20! I'm usually not a fan of love stories, the storyline has to be really good to capture my attention. Not only does this game have an intriguing and immersive storyline, it isn't a sappy mushy soap opera! Quite the opposite, there's a jailbreak for starters, along with murder, deceit, treachery, greed and of course, an immortal love. There are lots of inventory items to find and apply to appropriate tasks, some of which are Plus Items requiring some type of interaction or puzzle to solve before the items can be used. There are also Conversation choices to make, and a whole slew of Achievements to earn. Eventually you will receive an Amulet that can slow down and rewind time to help you correct minor or even major mistakes made. You will find D'Morten's Secret Chest which stores the portraits of all 20 previous wives as well as the 21 Morphing Objects you come across during the adventure. The chest will reveal his secrets when all have been found. The Hidden Object Scenes are not bad, with a clear attempt at making the normal a little more interesting, searching for arrest documents, photographs and other prison related material including verifying handprints. There are still the typical listed item finds and silhouetted shape finds included. The Mini Games tend to be a bit too easy, not necessarily bad, but nothing to write home about either. Below is a list of brief descriptions on some of the Mini Games you will play during the demo: 1) Swap image fragments to complete 4 photographs. 2) Select cylinders in the correct order to pick a lock by trial and error. 3) Slide color coded skulls to their matching slots, in two different puzzles, the first very easy, the second, slightly more difficult. 4) Swap tiles to complete the image. 5) Match identical Masks. 6) Place flags with two cutouts to match the correct set of tokens. 7) Drag circles until they form the correct numbers. 8) Flip over two mosaic tiles to match associated pairs, if the selection is wrong the tiles will shuffle. 9) Select fragments in the correct order based on clues given. This Collector's Edition has 4 Screensavers, 18 Concept Art pictures, 6 Music Soundtracks, 12 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 14 replayable Mini Games, 7 Wallpapers, 15 Movie Cutscenes, 20 Collectible Portraits, 21 Morphing Objects, 20 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Escape Into The Past This game was fantastic. Nice balance of inventory, task, collectibles, and cut scenes. I am wondering though if I missed some emblems that are coin shaped others close enough to coin shape. Did not find my first collectible until the third scene. The game has it all. High adventure, explosions, kidnappings, Poison, magic, and critter action. The HO's were not to fancy but what an inventory. Lots of it. Was great game and must go on my to buy list. Oooohhh! Lovely! I actually enjoyed this game ... beautiful graphics, ran smoothly, good storyline ... a little "twee" for me but in saying that, did really enjoy it. HOPS were great as they were different most times, hate the usual just looking for an object ... this had finding pairs, etc. so enjoyable. Puzzles were good ... some easy, some quite challenging but never unachievable. The game gave me no problems at all, moved quickly and along. and even incorporated stunning visual effects whereby we saw side-to-side screen shots as in Legends ... loved it!! When I saw the title, I thought ... on no, a Miss Marple perhaps?? But no .. this game is quality plus and whilst the storyline is of a magical genre, perhaps not for all ... for me it was so enjoyable. You have to find morphing objects ... I always cheat there as I don't have the patience to wait and see what changes, and you also have to find cameos ... now they were easy and great to find! I recommend this game, a definite buy and I believe you will not be disappointed. December 11, 2015
A TALE OF STAR-CROSSED LOVERS AND THE EVIL THAT STRIVES TO KEEP THEM APART You play the game as Jacques D? Perrault and you find yourself in prison with no memory of who you are or why you are there. Just before you are scheduled to be executed, you are visited by a stranger who says he is going to help you escape and that is where your adventure begins. The year is 1789 and apparently you have kidnapped and seriously wounded the future countess D?Morten and that is why you are awaiting your execution so now you must reconstruct what happened and prove your innocence before the blade falls. The game offers four modes of gameplay: Casual, Advanced, Expert, and Custom. I always select the custom mode when it is offered so that I can set up the hint and skip times for my preference. The graphics are excellent and some scenes are beautiful BUT there is also a bit too much use of purple and pink in some of those scenes. The game has excellent lip-synced voiceovers and with the inclusion of the music and special sound effects the game comes to life. Many of the hidden object scenes are interactive and they are not always obvious. I sometimes didn?t realize when I was in a HO scene because they were woven seamlessly into the storyline. I very seldom have to resort to using the hint button to locate items in the HO scenes in a game but I found that I needed it more frequently in this game. I guess that means either the game is more difficult or the items are just invisible. Frankly, I think it is a combination of both as some items were very well hidden and were not in my face obvious. On the other hand, the puzzles were very easy, in fact extremely so. In the words of another excellent reviewer, his wonder dog Stanley could complete the puzzles with a tap of his paw. Yes, the puzzles are that easy but hopefully they will pick up in difficulty later in the game The CE version includes collectibles and morphing objects along with the other standard additions normally found such as achievements to earn, the bonus game, strategy guide, wallpapers, music, videos, and additional HOPs and puzzles. The game has an interesting but sometimes familiar storyline of a Count obsessed with power and the young lovers he attempts to destroy. As we delve further into the story we find a more sinister count with a history of many wives. The fact that the count kept ridding himself of wives is a similar theme to the story of Bluebeard but told with a bit of a demonic twist. Although the storyline is familiar, I like this game and it has enough challenge to keep my brain busy even with the easy puzzles. The game package is quite nice and with gorgeous graphics, the game was an instant purchase for me. Even though the game was one I became intrigued with after playing the demo, please try Immortal Love Letters from the Past to see if it is a game you will enjoy. December 10, 2015
Yipee not a Detective game! Really liked the demo. MAN AND WOMAN IN LOVE and evil man wants women. Man wakes in a prison room after woman gets shot and doesn't remember who he is. So he gets help breaking out and has to find memories to remember your life and find your love. I very much liked it and will be buying it. Has ce bling lots.MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE December 10, 2015
Love that Evil cannot Conquer! I really liked this game. Though it is good vs. evil, it was not dark and dismal like a lot of games have been recently. The story was a great plot of romance, deceit, and murder. The music fit the beautiful scenes. I liked the twist of be able to travel back a few seconds to correct a mistake. The puzzles blended will with the story and game. I can say I liked the bonus chapter because it picked up where the main story left off, which a lot don't do. It was nice to play the part of man rescuing his love instead of the other way around. I can say I am really glad I bought the CE because the bonus content was actually well balanced for a change. Love, Love This Game Not all that far into the game, others have written about it, so, I'll just say that this is one awesome game that has it all, I'd give it a ten star rating if I could. Hogs are a little different, puzzles are good, map is good, it's just a fantastic game, in every way. December 12, 2015
Fun and beautiful, and I got sucked into the world, the mark of a great game I agree with everything Sunnyglow says about the minigames being easy, but they were fun. I also liked the HOP scenes, not because they were challenging or interesting, but because they helped move the story along instead of just finding objects for the sake of finding objects. The art is beautiful and the music is nice. All the extras are included. Ability to play games over, a bonus game, art and music. Best of all, I got sucked into the world. That is the mark of a great game. Immediate buy for me. Thanks, developers! December 10, 2015
Very immersive Beautiful graphics, very good voice acting, interesting plot and fun game play. The bonus game was very well done too. One of the best games I've played lately. December 13, 2015
A dastardly Count and doomed lovers One of the most original HOGs I've played in a long time and I knew from early on in the demo that I would want to buy it. A beautifully crafted mystery with a gradually unravelling backstory. The puzzles aren't hard, which would normally make me lose interest, but the designer has taken care to provide a lot of variety and it works well. I love the device of turning back time :) A few different collectables provides an additional challenge. The artwork is lovely. December 11, 2015
