Hidden Expedition: The Fountain of Youth Collector's Edition 4.3 5 39 39
Lovely Game - Succeeds on Many Levels A really fine entry in this series, and lots of things that almost worked in its predecessors succeed well here. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. I don't mind that the historical Magellan wasn't really interested in the Fountain of Youth. And Sam is the Deus ex Machina that ties the thing together. Pros: Beautiful art, exotic locations, excellent music, EXCELLENT voice acting. Smooth game play, plenty of HO scenes with good variation, the usual mix of puzzles with a couple of MCF-esque puzzles that were a wonderful break. Writing solid and coherent. Player character is female but well done enough not to keep the guys from enjoying a little immersion. More of this, please! Cons: Very few. I wish the history, which is beautifully detailed in the fact cards, could have been worked into the plot a little more and the heck with Ponce de Leon. If that's the only quibble, you know the game is solid. Well done, Devs. This one's a keeper. January 14, 2016
What Do You Do When H.E.L.P Needs Help? Your mission, should you decide to accept it, will take you to Sigiriya, Sri Lanka to find out why the agency has lost communication with an entire team of H.E.L.P field agents. These agents were deployed to supervise the restoration of a very important archaeological dig site, the site that contains the Fountain of Youth. H.E.L.P isn't the only team trying to find this snake venom, Dario Sabas Aturnin is using his wealth and questionable ethics to obtain the age altering elixir. To make matters worse, he has hired Dana Creed, one of Sam's proteges who went rouge, Sam warns that she is ruthless and dangerous! Hidden Expedition has another great action packed adventure in store for us, but searching for the Fountain of Youth could prove to be the age altering liquid that we won't live long enough to use. Hidden Expeditions just keeps getting better and better, I do grow weary with the topic (fountain of youth searches) but I must admit, this one's the most interesting, the holy grail of all fountains! This game offers all the features you could ask for including Plus Sign inventory items, and scenes that allow you to pan left and right, or north and south. Hidden Expedition wouldn't be the same without the famous H.E.L.P. box and the 20 collectible Fact Cards that give us insight with facts about the area, the why's, what's, where's and when's so to speak. There's also 41 Hidden Sign's to search for and a whole slew of Achievements to earn as well. The Hidden Object Scenes are multi-layered puzzles with a variety of styles, silhouetted shape finds, listed items, fragment finds and mini games within, each HOP has a Morphing Object (17 total) but I prefer the morphs to be within the game scenes because I always forget to look for them in the HOP's usually because I'm trying to earn an achievement for finding the items quickly and without mistakes. The Mini Games are really entertaining, but I've come to expect fantastic mini games from this series. The following are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Select and drag a fist through a maze, stopping at power points along the way, before delivering a power punch. 2) A zoom zone game where you find the correct three emojis previously seen. 3) A zoom zone puzzle requiring you to place three gears on red points on a lock. 4) A zoom zone puzzle where you find 3 numbers on a combination lock that equal six. 5) Click and drag color coded token chains of various lengths until they are in their matching color coded slots. 6) Shoot a slingshot when the red dot lines up in the green zone. 7) Create a continuous path of light by rotating arrows in the correct directions. 8) Select pairs of matching symbols by clicking on two candles at a time. 9) Spot the 10 Differences in a scene with a photo previously taken. 10) Move numbered tokens to reflect numerical order. 11) A multi layered puzzle using codes, matching tokens, sliding cylinders, moving tokens by either two or five spaces at a time choosing the correct path for a ship to sail, all as you try to escape impending danger! This Collector's Edition has 18 replayable Puzzles, 17 replayable Hidden Object Scenes with 17 Morphing Objects within the HOS, 12 Videos and 1 Bonus Video, 12 Concept Art Pictures, 8 Wallpapers, 20 Collectible Fun Fact Cards, 41 Hidden Signs, 9 Music Soundtracks, a Souvenir Room, 13 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! PACK YOUR PARACHUTE AND ?JUMP INTO? AN ACTION PACKED ADVENTURE GAME BASED ON 3 CHAPTERS OF 6 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER Pack your parachute and get ready to ?jump into? an action packed adventure set in Sri Lanka! Shady businessman, Dario Aturnin has received clearance to ?restore? the Sigiriya Temple. However, his team is really searching for a plaque to locate the Fountain of Youth. What a GREAT GAME from this developer! It has a suspenseful, action-packed storyline. There are three collectibles, including fact cards which provide some history lessons as you continue to play this game. This game is puzzle-intense and HOP lite. The graphics are well-crafted and realistic as usual for this developer. Get ready! With three H.E.L.P. agents kidnapped and agents of Aturnin destroying a World Heritage site, you need to hit the ground running in this game. The possession of the Fountain of Youth in the wrong hands could cause havoc on the world! The best part of the game are the numerous amount of puzzles. All are well-designed and vary in both style and difficulty. What a delightful assortment of them. In the demo there are maze puzzles, manual dexterity puzzles, moving tiles puzzles, Simon Says puzzles, matching puzzles, a multiple-step puzzle and a Rube-Goldberg super puzzle! There are easy puzzles and some which are moderately difficult. My favorite puzzles were the maze puzzles, which are fairly easy but entertaining. I also enjoyed the super puzzle at the end of the demo. The HOP scenes are few in the demo but include lists of items, silhouette items, replacement items, and a FROG scene. The scenes are interactive and puzzle-like. There are quite a few collectibles including 21 fact cards, 41 signs, and 17 morphing objects which are not all placed in the HOP scenes. You also 13 Achievements you can aspire to. AFTER THE DEMO: Chapter 3 continues your quest. It also continues with an excellent array of both HOP scenes and puzzles. There more HOP scenes than puzzles in this chapter. There are four more HOP scenes which include silhouette scenes, list of items to locate and a FROG scene. My favorite was an awesome HOP scene which has you search for silhouette items in three books. Quite unique! There are three puzzles, two of which I found moderately difficult. They include two sliding tiles puzzles (one which is a mini-puzzle) and a matching puzzle which is slightly difficult. I love the educational aspect of this game and would highly recommend it for the school aged fish as well as the adults in learning historical facts including those about Magellan and a temple in Sri Lanka.. I knew nothing about the temple and found the fact cards entertaining. LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom There is an option for random clicking in HOP scenes Hints 10 to 120 seconds Skips 10 to 400 seconds EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game Collect 20 fact cards. Learn facts about the temple, Magellan, and other historical facts Collect 41 signs 17 Morphing objects 13 Achievements Strategy guide ? 47 pages Usual video, pictures, music, and replay of HOP scenes and puzzles HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-GAMES HOP SCENES: A. fresh! Seems like most collector editions are very similar and employ the usual characteristics, i.e., collection items, morphing object, interactive maps, etc... but this game has made the same ole stuff interesting again by creating new variations of puzzles, which are not real difficult, but still enjoyable because they're new and require some thought. I think I've purchased well over 300 games over the years, due to many surgeries and having lots of time to kill while I heal, but this is one of my favorites....probably ranks in the top 5 or 10. I'm glad I bought this one and I'm sure most people will feel the same. Nice job Epix!! Enjoy... January 8, 2016
I really liked this game It took me a few weeks to get thru it on and off. But, I enjoyed this game. More into it, the better it got. Wish I'd had time to sit and play the thing in 2 days. I'd buy it again :) February 2, 2016
Hidden Expedition: The Fountain of Youth Loved loved loved this game. The graphics are outstanding in every sense of the word. Lots of challenges to test your skills, great story line and message. The graphics makes one feel they are in that world. January 12, 2016
awesome loved the game, when I played the bonus game it was great, but is there going to be another one to see what happen to the guy in the cave, please please say yes February 16, 2016
Great puzzles. I love the minigames. That's my favorite part. Everyone has already written such great reviews that I will only say why I think the game is so great. I got sucked into the world and almost ran the demo out. When I went back in to play my last few free minutes and was collecting hot pink flower petals, I groaned when the demo did run out. So immersive, the mark of a great game. Progress through the game makes sense. The objects that you find are actually identifiable as having something to do with an action you are trying to fulfill. Always. I'm not sure I know what is going on with the bad guys, but hey, I can live with a little confusion. After all, it's a mystery! Art and music are great. CE bells and whistles are all present. Buy the CE now, seriously. I know we are only a week into the new year, but this one will be on the list of best game of 2016, at least if everyone remembers it by the end of 2016! And thanks developers. I think you really listened when some of us said we were not as happy with "Hidden Expedition: Dawn of Prosperity" as we had been with previous entries in the series. Really, thanks for this one. January 11, 2016
This HE installment is superb The most recent HE game in the series was somewhat of a disappointment for me. I felt the story was a bit ridiculous and the story is a major factor in my decision to purchase or leave it be. In this game, the story is compelling albeit a bit confusing. A H.E.L.P expedition has been abducted by an insidious treasure hunter with the assistance of a former H.E.L.P. agent. There is a search for the fabled Fountain of Youth. The confusion for me lies in that here it was Magellan who sought the fountain. History tells us the explorer Ponce de Leon was the man obsessed with this discovery. So did Eipix make an error in historical fact or is the developer merely exercising some " poetic license " At any rate, this does in no way detract from a rollicking adventure. As is always the case in HOPAs, the player must achieve the goal of rescuing his/her colleagues and foil the plans of the evil doers. As is always the case in HE games, the scenery is stunning. Graphically this is a game anyone can find appealing. The hidden object segments are top-notch with various levels of interactivity. The puzzles are inventive. One I particularly enjoyed was of the Rube Goldberg variety . It demanded considerable thought yet it wasn't so hard as to warrant consideration of a skip. This occurred just prior to the demo conclusion which is as far as I have gotten so far. Although I did not check any of them out yet, HE games always provides interesting fact cards which gives capsule information of real events tied to the story line. For those who enjoy them, we find morphing objects and some collectible items as well. The Fountain of Youth is an outstanding addition to the HE series. It gets from me a very enthusiastic 5 STAR rating. January 7, 2016
Yaaaay! Based on the trial this is a perfect game and a sure buy for me. The Hidden Expedition series are the best and when a new one shows up I feel like a kid on Christmas morning! They are adult games with real life scenarios chock full of believable characters. Glorious graphics, collectibles, etc. For a full review refer to pennmom36 who always writes great reviews . I highly recommend this game!!! January 7, 2016
