Never Heard Of This Dev But I Think They're On To Something! Mr. Miller and his son were enjoying their Holiday, taking daily hiking excursions and exploring everything nature has to offer. They would return each night to the Big Pine Lodge eager to plan the next day's adventure, even Brody, an employee of the Lodge, accompanied them to show them interesting landmarks. The joy they experienced quickly turned into terror with the discovery of a mysterious necklace that summoned some type of demon. Clarkson the manager of the lodge has contacted you, a paranormal Detective, to search for the missing Miller's, but this innocent old man may not be on the up and up, and this investigation could turn out to be deadly.... I loved the graphics, the use of real (and likeable) characters and the top notch graphics. There aren't any frills, collectibles or extra's in this game, but the storyline is interesting, and every scene is chock full of activities. There are no gimmicky devices and no furry sidekicks, but nevertheless, this is a decent HOPA. The Hidden Object Scenes are extremely varied and multi-layered, Finding 6 pairs of related items, Finding color coded keys to unlock listed items, Fragmented finds and most of the scenes require you to replace the items back into the scene once all items have been found. Some of the items are a bit small and difficult to find, but overall the scenes are entertaining. The Mini Games are decent but tend to be on the easy side of the spectrum, and there's nothing really new, but again, I found them entertaining. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during this demo: 1) Find matching pairs of symbols. 2) Create a triangle by putting green gems into the intersection of the circles using rotational arrows. 3) Place files in a way that ensures they are linked together by colors. 4) Position Rosettes according to clues found. 5) Rotate individual pipes to complete the connection. 6) Rotate circular sections to create an image. This game proves that you don't always have to have all kinds of bells and whistles to create an entertaining game, enjoy! February 17, 2016
Pleasantly Surprised! This is the first time that I can remember playing a game by this developer and I have been a long time member of BFG. My review is based on the demo only. I, like the prior reviewer, was pleasantly surprised by the variations in the HOS. The objects were not hidden so deep in the scene that you could not find them and the hint charged quickly if you needed it. I consider myself an expert and I enjoyed the vast variations in each HOS. I also enjoyed the mini games as well as they were also not the normal run of the mill. There is a jump map which shows you where you have something to do. The scenery was nice but not exceptional in detail. I liked the simplicity of it. Since the game is on a 'special' I am definitely going to buy. According to the information listed there is also a bonus game, which is very rare on a SE version of a game. I think all who buy will enjoy the relaxed pace that I have seen so far and I can't wait to finish the entire game! February 17, 2016
SURPRISE!! When I first looked at this game I thought it would be pretty bad. Decided to give it a try anyway. Surprise, surprise it is not a bad game after all. Actually it is quite fun. The drawing/graphics are not the best but it did not detract from the fun of the game. The HO's are pretty good (hate to admit it but I had to use the hint button twice) and some are inter-active. I play with the sound off so can't say anything about it. I played the demo to the end and promptly bought the game. This is a game you have to think to play and that is enjoyable to me instead of just finding stuff and not having to think. We have all seen the story-line before but this one has a few twists in it. Give the demo a try and see for yourself. I am going back to the game now. Enjoy. February 17, 2016
great g ame to play Love this game keeps you busy..alot of fun things to solve.. you wont be sorry if you buy this game.. February 22, 2016
Good, solid, fun game Wow! What can I say? This game has all the appeal of a great adventure story without any of the gimmicky devices, helpful creatures, flashy artwork, or contrived minigames of some of the newer HOPAs. There's no blood and gore, no dead bodies, no creepy crawlies, and only one small, unscary spider. This is just solid, down and dirty, git her done, rescue the victims, and destroy the demon. Good graphics, a fast hint and skip recharge when playing on the casual level, good voiceovers, interesting storytelling, and fun gameplay. What a concept! February 18, 2016
FIND THE MILLERS REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Its a new developer with more games to come under a different name. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Casual, Normal and Expert modes; * Diary; * Medallion to use. The graphics are good - not too bright and are well defined. Its easy to see everywhere and to find items you need. Sound is good. The music is orchestral, drums and piano. Its not too loud or overpowering and I had it on the whole time. There are a great variety of interactive hidden object games. Some are finding pairs, straightforward and finding items and putting them back in their right place. I really enjoyed doing these. There are not too many of them and I found the challenge excellent. The mini-games are varied, with different degrees of challenge. A few took me ages with getting things in the right order. None of these are frustratingly annoying or too hard but at the same time the challenge is there to keep even the experts happy. The mini-game at the end took me a long time to conquer. You will need speed and accuracy for this one. There is a fair bit of reading to do in the diary which tells you of the story's history and what to do next. This doesn't take long and I didn't mind reading it at all. There is a lot to do in this game, which I believe is a full on adventure. All up the game took me a good 7 hours playing on Expert mode which has the Hint and Skip turned off. Just make sure at the beginning of the game which mode you want to play because you cannot change it once you've started. Overall, a great game to play and definitely worth having a look. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for this developer in the future. They've got talent and can't wait to see what they come out with next. Happy playing fishies. February 26, 2016
AN OUTSTANDING SE GAME FROM A NEW TEAM When I saw Mysteries of the Past Shadow of the Daemon I had to do some searching because I was sure I had seen this game previously since the graphic of the young boy looked eerily similar to ?Darren? the character in a game released about a month ago. Just to make sure I downloaded the game and, yes, it is new but I certainly experienced one of those dj vu moments. The game is from a new game developer; at least its name is one I don?t recall seeing in the past. The graphics are actually very good and there are sort of ?iffy? lip-synced voiceovers. The game offers three modes of gameplay offered but no custom mode. The settings are minimal so there are not many things we can fiddle with to customize the game other than the volume sliders and screen size. We receive a map early in the game but that is our only tool ? aside from our wits and putting that gray matter to work. The storyline is familiar but it is done well in Shadow of the Daemon. As a detective who deals with paranormal events you have been contacted by a Mr. Clarkson who is the owner of the Big Pine Lodge. The Millers, a father and son duo staying at the lodge, disappeared when it was seemingly invaded by an evil entity that whisked them away one evening when they returned from their daily trek. Since that event, Mr. Clarkson has been too afraid to enter the lodge so you agree to meet him outside the lodge. When you meet him at the entrance he explains how the appearance of the lodge has changed in just a matter of days and now looks as if it has been abandoned for several years. Out of control plants cover the lodge so your first task will be to gain entry. After you enter the lodge, your fun begins. The HOPS are interesting, interactive and multi-level. Although there is nothing new I really like the way this developer has set up each HOP scene. The mini-games will seem quite easy for many seasoned gamers but they are still quite entertaining. All in all, if this is a first attempt at a HOPA game by this team, I have to congratulate them on their efforts. I enjoy the game and it became an immediate purchase for me. I hope to see more games from this team in the future. Even though I really like the game, please try it to see if it is one you will enjoy. February 17, 2016
I REALLY LIKE THIS GAME!! I just finished the demo on this game and really enjoyed myself. I liked the story, graphics, old man's character (manager), atmosphere, and game play. The HOS aren't hard, but relaxing and enjoyable. Plus are completed in 2-3 formats, which added to the fun of them without straining your eyes or frustration. I'm anxious to find out how it continues. So, with the great sale by BFG I'm off to buy the game and find out. Happy Gaming Everyone! February 21, 2016
It's great to have a new studio in the neighborhood. I enjoyed this game thoroughly. Both visuals and audio are perfectly pleasant, there's nothing intrusive. The mini-games are well balanced and fun - and to my surprise not repetitive. Locations are interesting. It all looks quite scary in it's own ?abandoned? way, which I enjoyed very much. The voice acting is excellent and I especially love the idea of switchable main character. Story line was catching and it really kept me in till the end. I would sure like to see this not as Platinum but as a Collector's Edition. I also love the fact that such a large piece is produced by a totally new studio and not by any of the already known big game houses. Brings some fresh air to the scene. I believe this to be a good sign for us as players since there is still potential for new ideas. For me - this is a big thumbs up. March 24, 2016
Brilliant I loved playing this game, you don't have a walk through, but don't let that put you off, you do have a interactive map, which is great. The story is brilliant, and the HOS are not usual, you have to find objects, but then you have to put them back in place again. And you have to find a boy and his father who have been imprisoned by a demon, and each time you have completed every thing for that part of the game, it loads up another section. The graphics are brilliant as well February 18, 2016
