I love the PuppetShow Series This was an instant buy for me without playing the demo and I am glad I did....I spent the day on an entertaining adventure...Even the Bonus game is fun.....I love all of this series.....Back when HOP were all the rage, this series had me playing them again and again....and I will do the same with this one......I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I did....Fun..... WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED, WHO IS THE PUPPET MASTER IN THIS TOWN? BASED ON THE DEMO PLUS OF CHAPTER 3 OUT OF 4 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER OVERVIEW OF THE GAME. A DECENT LOW 5-STAR GAME! Artificial intelligence has arrived in the town of Saltsbruk! Puppets are taking over the town including everyone?s job in the salt mines! However, what are the ?strings? attached to this deal? To me, this is one of the BETTER games in this series. The story, the graphics, the pace, and the puzzles are all innovative and well-crafted. This developer always has the most beautiful and realistic graphics and this game is no exception. The game has an excellent pace and maintained my interest. There is an equal mix of both HOP scenes and mini-games. My one complaint concerns the HOP scenes. I felt that the HOP scenes were lacking creativity after the demo. Those I played after the demo were simply lists of items to locate. However, I purchase games for the puzzles, and the ones in this game are EXCELLENT! STORY: As a paranormal investigator, you are off to the ?salt mines? in the town of Saltsbruk, to investigate the disappearance of the mayor?s daughter. The town workers are in an uproar as robotic puppets are taking their jobs in the mines. You soon discover a series of accidents, murders, and disappearances happening as well. Are these the cause of man or machine? Who is the puppet master, pulling the strings in this town and what is he or she up to? Are the ?robomeisters? David and Hannah of D.H. Wonders, the masterminds behind all the mahem? And who is the red-eyed hooded monster lurking in the shadows? HOP SCENES: There are only 3 HOP scenes in the demo. They include a silhouette scene, a storybook scene with items listed in BOLD letters and a search for a specific amount of one item. Unfortunately, there is no optional game offered in lieu of the HOP scenes. After the demo, all of the HOP scenes I played were lists of items to locate. MINI-GAMES. In the demo, two of the puzzles are easy. The other puzzles is moderately difficult. The puzzles are variations of a matching puzzle, a combination moving tiles/maze puzzle, and an assembly puzzle. Only the maze puzzle was slightly difficult. After the demo, most of the puzzles are DIFFICULT. They include variations of a moving tiles puzzle, a maze puzzle, and a pipe puzzle. There is one puzzle which is more of HOP scene than an actual puzzle. EXTRAS: A map is provided as you play the game. There are 14 achievements, you collect 12 statuettes, and there is the usual wallpaper, artwork, and screensavers. You are able to replay the HOP scenes and the mini-games. The strategy guide has 47 pages. COMPLAINT: There are two complaints concerning this game. There is a lack of ?extra goodies? in this game. There is no game to play in lieu of the HOP scenes. There is only one collectible and there are no morphing objects. In the past, this developer used to offer casual and difficult versions of some of their puzzles. That is not available in this game. However, most of the puzzles are DIFFICULT! I also found the HOP scenes boring! They lack variety in the actual game. All which I played after the demo are simply lists of items and one scene was reused. LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hard, Custom You are able to select your gender and swagger for both sexes choose between Smart, Brave, or Couth Hints and Skips 5 to 200 seconds HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES HOP SCENES: A. Silhouette. Locate silhouetted items on a bulletin board. B. Storybook sequence. Locate items listed in BOLD letters while listing to a story about the town. C. Locate 12 of one item. AFTER THE DEMO: D. List of items to locate E. Another list of items to locate F. And yet another list of items to locate (Revisit the same scene) G. Locate 12 of one item. H. And yet another list of items to locate PUZZLES: A. Matching puzzle. Match up symbols on eagle feathers until all are lit. EASY B. Maze/Moving tiles puzzle. Create a pathway for a tram by moving tiles into their correct locations. MODERATELY DIFFICULT C. Assembly puzzle. Follow a diagram to repair a mechanical heart by placing ingredients in the correct sequence according to the diagram. EASY AFTER THE DEMO: D. Moving tiles/maze puzzle. Move each of three colored tiles through a maze to the correct matching silver slot on a board. DIFFICULT E. Variation of a matching puzzle/HOP scene. As items are highlighted locate them in a scene. I found this puzzle very similar to a HOP scene. Items are a little difficult to locate MODERATELY DIFFICULT F. Pipe puzzle. Instead of pipes, connect fuse tiles to dynamite bundles for an explosive effect. 2X INCREASES IN DIFFICULTY G. Maze puzzle. Move two eels to charging stations. MODERATELY DIFFICULT January 21, 2016
ERS Raises the Bar with latest installment of PuppetShow Series! This was definitely an insta-buy for me because of the high production values and unique story. For some hardcore fans it will fit nicely into your collection among the other 7 editions. The journey begins in PuppetShow 8: The Face of Humanity Collector?s Edition when you learn little Agnes Weiss, daughter of the most important man in Saltsbruck is gone missing. Her father the Mayor is desperate: firstly he sent all gendarmes (steampunk puppets) to find her. But there?s a tension in town, people are attacking puppets that are taking more and more jobs from the humans. A scary thought which somehow seems relative to the times we live in now. And moreover someone saw some type of monster lurking in the shadows...Early in the adventure you begin to realize it won?t be an easy task to find the missing girl in such situations, when the true face of humanity ? hatred and violence ? is revealed. Luckily for ERS Game Studios, some of us hidden-object adventure lovers like to be spooked from time to time. This is why the PuppetShow series is so popular that it's celebrating its 8th birthday this year with a new installment which in many ways is superior to earlier installments of the series. When you progress to the chapter of the adventure where you meet Scientists David and Hannah your suspicion grows and you realize you MUST find out what happened with Agnes no matter what. The new atmosphere of The Face of Humanity with its game portraiture and splendid music tracks are really explosive. Backgrounds of each level are no longer just painted pictures, but contain lots of moving elements. Nothing is certain when you don't know if you're dealing with humans or their puppet creations. Uncover who or what is causing the deadly accidents in the city and rescue the mayor's daughter. Solve the mystery and find out whose heart is truly as cold as porcelain. I highly recommend this for gamers of every level of play... January 24, 2016
Just a puppet at heart! I have loved the Puppetshow series since the first game. I do have each game and, of course, added this one as soon as I had finished my demo. I highly recommend any one of the Puppetshow games, including this one. I enjoy the music, graphics, story lines, puzzles, and I find it fun! February 3, 2016
Yeah! Another PuppetShow installment! I have loved all the games in this series, and this one is no exception. This one looks, feels, and plays much like the others. but with its own unique twist. If you liked the others, this one will not disappoint! This is my all time favourite series at Big Fish! January 22, 2016
I LOVE Puppetshow games!!! PuppetShow games are my favorites. I own all of them and most of them are the collector's editions. This one is just as good as the rest of the series. I am always excited when I see a new one come out!! I just love the graphics in these games! It's so awesome to open a new scene and set there admiring the graphics before I start exploring! Even the H.O.s are gorgeous! My grandchildren are old enough to play with me now (5 and 3) and they love this game. It can be creepy in parts but my grandkids seem to love the creepy games best! My daughter and niece also love the PuppetShow games too. I hope this series doesn't end anytime soon! February 1, 2016
Great game ERS I love everything about this game, the colors, the graphics are very well done and that is Most important, and it has details which is one of the main things I look for. I love the rain fall. Everything is worth the price as are all of the PuppetShow games. January 23, 2016
Really like this game After so many recent disappointments it was nice to play a game that was enjoyable. The graphics were nicely done. The game story was a bit different from a lot I have played recently. Puzzles were challenging. Some were even a challenge at the casual level. Nice to have been able to enjoy a game again. Played it three times already. February 18, 2016
ANOTHER DAY ON THE JOB! AT LEAST I HAVEN'T BEEN REPLACED BY A PUPPET YET You play the game as a detective: I am sure that comes as no surprise! You receive a letter from the mayor of Saltsbruck asking for your help in finding his daughter who has gone missing. There have been reports of a monster with glowing eyes seen at night in the streets and the mayor is concerned for his daughter?s life. The game offers four choices of gameplay Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom. In the custom mode the hints and puzzle skips recharge in a range from 10 to 200 seconds. One of the interesting things about the game settings is that you can choose your gender and appearance. The graphics are excellent as are the voiceovers. Aside from the interactive, transporter type map we don?t seem to have any other tools ? no pet helpers, and no gimmicks ? so we can just play the game using our brain power to get things done. What a novel idea! It seems that most games follow the same pattern now with very little difference in the types of HOS they offer. There is a mix of styles including the story type where we find the item according to the highlighted word and another where we find items by their silhouettes shown on a page. The first couple of puzzles during the demo were fairly easy but I did have a problem making sense of what to do when following the formula to fill the glass heart. The puzzles are nothing new but they are still what make the gameplay fun for me so as long as they are entertaining and not over-the-top frustrating, then I am very happy. There are collectibles and achievements but not much else in the way of extra content. As much as I love this team and their floppy bunny ears, I must admit that they don?t give us much in the way of incentive to purchase their CE games. Of course, we do have the integrated strategy guide and a bonus chapter so that might be enough for some of us. The Puppet Show series have not been at the top of my list of favorite games in recent years but after a few missteps, I must admit that they got it right with Puppet Show the Face of Humanity. As I was playing through the demo for the game I was so impressed with what an excellent game the bunny team has created this time around. One of the things I enjoyed was the humorous dialogue that had me laughing out loud. As I exited the coach at the beginning of the game, I felt like I was getting the captain?s reminder to collect my belongings as I leave an airplane ? lol. The storyline in the Face of Humanity is excellent and I knew right away that I wanted to play the entire game. Everything in the beta left me wanting more and I have been eagerly waiting for the full release. Now that it is here, the game is an instant buy for me but, as always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if you might agree that this is an excellent game. January 21, 2016
Great game! I usually love all the Puppetshow games, and this one did not disappoint. January 23, 2016
