PuppetShow: The Face of Humanity 3.6 5 12 12
Magnificent My rating is based on completion of SE and fulfillment of most of my individual requirements. PuppetShow games rank among the best. Quality and challenge are high-class. - Story: You?re a detective, looking into a missing girl. It wasn?t the butler, but a puppet (surprise, surprise). - Difficulty can be customized. Tutorial, sparkles, bar hints, penalty and hint / skip recharge. - Graphics: The sceneries are imaginative, multifaceted and a world of its own. The puppets are once again marvelous. - Animation: simply excellent - Music: Mesmerizing. I like the main PuppetShow theme most of all. - Fitting background noises. - Voice-overs: great voices, fitting characters and very good synchronized - Tools: you have an interactive map. For playing w/o helping texts it is sometimes useful. - HO?s: different types, some interactive. Nicely done. Not too difficult. - Mini games: well-crafted?.some can be played either hard or casual. Challenge increases during the game. - Challenge: pretty challenging just like any PuppetShow games. W/o helping texts you have to be very attentive. - Specials: you can choose gender and appearance. Dislikes: Length: I needed nearly 3 hours for completing. Especially, because I love to play it, it is too short. Thus I could not award 5* stars, but 4. February 23, 2016
Good old Puppet Show Finally it's back. The Puppet Show I knew from the very first game in the series is back, with its dark atmosphere, coherent storyline and original puzzles. The evil spider puppet, too, makes a cameo appearance - as a guest star, I guess. There are still a few questions that remain unanswered after the game's been finished, but maybe the Collector's edition has the answers... I enjoyed playing the game, and the only thing that was a little annoying was the need to place the objects at a precise spot to make things work - and it was hard to figure out where exactly this precise spot was sometimes. Other than that, playing the game was a very pleasant experience. March 13, 2016
THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS GREAT IN THE SALT MINES You play the game as a detective: I am sure that comes as no surprise! You receive a letter from the mayor of Saltsbruck asking for your help in finding his daughter who has gone missing. There have been reports of a monster with glowing eyes seen at night in the streets and the mayor is concerned for his daughter?s life. The game offers four choices of gameplay Casual, Advanced, Hard and Custom. In the custom mode the hints and puzzle skips recharge in a range from 10 to 200 seconds. One of the interesting things about the game settings is that you can choose your gender and appearance. The graphics are excellent as are the voiceovers. Aside from the interactive, transporter type map we don?t seem to have any other tools ? no pet helpers, and no gimmicks ? so we can just play the game using our brain power to get things done. What a novel idea! It seems that most games follow the same pattern now with very little difference in the types of HOS they offer. There is a mix of styles including the story type where we find the item according to the highlighted word and another where we find items by their silhouettes shown on a page. The first couple of puzzles during the demo were fairly easy but I did have a problem making sense of what to do when following the formula to fill the glass heart. The puzzles are nothing new but they are still what make the gameplay fun for me so as long as they are entertaining and not over-the-top frustrating, then I am very happy. The Puppet Show series have not been at the top of my list of favorite games in recent years but after a few missteps, I must admit that they got it right with Puppet Show the Face of Humanity. As I was playing through the demo for the game I was so impressed with what an excellent game the bunny team has created this time around. One of the things I enjoyed was the humorous dialogue that had me laughing out loud. As I exited the coach at the beginning of the game, I felt like I was getting the captain?s reminder to collect my belongings as I leave an airplane ? lol. The storyline in the Face of Humanity is excellent and I knew right away that I wanted to play the entire game. Everything in the beta left me wanting more and I have been eagerly waiting for the full release. Now that it is here, the game was an instant buy for me and a game that I did enjoy. Even though I liked the game, as always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if you might agree that this is an excellent game. February 19, 2016
Where's There's A Puppet, There's Bound To Be A Puppet Master Saltsbruck may never be the same now that robot's have taken over, the entire town seem's to be automated by robots. The Salt Mines that once supported many families, has replaced all human employees, with nut's and bolt's, walking talking mechanical puppets, for human safety of course! The only people who stand to prosper from this endeavor is David and Hannah of the DH Wonders Factory, who create the puppets. You have been invited by Mayor Weiss, to investigate the disappearance of their daughter Lucy, does DH Wonders have anything to do with her abduction, or do the puppets have a higher Master? I'm sure many gamers will adore this game, but for me, it wasn't fantastic, and the demo is so short I have to believe the game in it's entirety is brief as well. I did like the features that allowed you to choose your Gender and choose your Appearance between Smart, Brave or Couth. The graphics are hand drawn, they are done well, but I prefer computer generated graphics with a crisp definition. The Collector's Edition has Collectible figures, but they aren't really hidden, you simply click on them during a zoom zone that doesn't disappear until you do select them. The Achievements (also available in the CE) are very odd, I get an achievement if I try to use the knife on the Gendarmes, I get an achievement if I skip a Mini Game, I even get an achievement if I skip over a cut scene!? The Hidden Object Scenes are just okay, nothing new and certainly nothing awe inspiring. Find 12 mice with slightly interactive points, find items that match the Blue text in a story about the Salt Mines, and finding several very obvious silhouetted shapes. The Mini Games are simple and are far and few between, choosing two feathers at a time with the same symbol, Slide tiles to create a directional path and following a recipe to rebuild a mechanical heart. The Collector's Edition has 8 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art pictures, 14 Mini Games, 10 Hidden Object Scenes, 5 Screensaver's, 4 Music Soundtracks, 34 Movies, 13 Achievements, 13 Collectible Figures, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. Short & Sweet Puppets I have all the Puppet Show Games as far as I know, and they are some of my favorite games. It is like a holiday when a new one comes out. I even love the music which is amazing since #1 I usually only tolerate the game music or not, and #2 I don't really like 'classical' music. However Puppet Show is just enchanting and the music is one of my favorite things about it. HOWEVER, Puppet Show is really losing its edge somehow - with this one I notice how short it is compared to the original Puppet Show games. Even more concerning, somehow there is just a lack of drama and intricate mechanical contraptions (art) to the last couple. Although I am glad his appearance was limited I love to hate the spider puppet so I am glad he wasn't obliterated completely.. He is just so despicable. True to form, he never has one redeeming quality. Perfect Villain. Anyway Puppet People please get your Mojo working again. xoxoxo February 21, 2016
another game in the puppet show series a custom level and interactive map and the hint system will teleport you. the mayor gets in touch with you (at the beginning you can choose to play as a man or a woman) and asks for your help in finding his daughter. the short little puppets are not as prevalent in this game but the whole "puppet" thing is getting old. i loved them at first but now.......not so much. i agree with another reviewer that maybe it is time to retire the theme. it isn't one of the longer games and did have an abrupt ending. maybe that is to mean a sequel is coming idk. since this is one that could be. Everything going for it, but Like all the other PuppetShow games, this one is interesting to play, with great graphics and some mini-puzzles that required a bit of thinking. Unlike the other games in the series, I was disappointed with the length of this one and it had a REALLY abrupt ending. However, my review is based on the SE game, not the CE, which was probably longer. As much as I enjoyed playing it, I disliked the length just as much. March 3, 2016
Sort of a 3+ star This had a unique storyline, but I think its just about time to retire the puppet theme. I have played the whole series and its getting a little old. Skipped all the puzzles/mini games...too tedious. HOS were interactive with some lists and some shadow..but nothing really new. Graphics and animations, as always were terrific but the game (which started out good) began to get a bit boring toward the end...just lost its steam I guess you could say. The game seemed a bit short for a SE or maybe I was just ready to see it end. Custom setting allowed you to set the hint and skip to 5 seconds, which was good and eliminate the tutorial. I always like a game with custom settings. Transporter map was very good as the game did move you around a bit. I got this on special, but I am pretty sure I would have been a bit upset if I had paid full price. I'd recommend waiting for a deal or use a credit. February 22, 2016
OK I found the characters are a bit weird and a bit lame to be honest. I just couldn?t get to grips with them at all. There are some moments and scenes in this game that are truly awesome, but then other times it?s just dull, dull, dull. Sorry my favorite Puppet Show game is still ?Price of Immortality.? - April 24, 2016
Monster Gets a New Change of Attitude A famous detective is sought out by the mayor of his town to find his daughter, Anna. Apparently, someone has created puppets/robots who can do all the jobs humans used to do and now the humans are angry. During the search for Anna, the detective learns that the scientists have created a puppet-daughter, Eva, and it's Eva who is causing the destruction. That's about it for story. Why the little girl isn't afraid of PuppetEva is never explained. In fact, the game just came to a sudden stop and everyone seemed to be happy. When I first started playing HOPs, I would have rated this game 5 stars. But there are better games out there now. These puzzles were simple, not very original, and HOPs were standard fair. If you've only played a dozen or so games like this, I could recommend it highly. March 18, 2016
