Tales of Terror: Estate of the Heart 3.6 5 12 12
WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO SAVE YOUR LOVE? Tales of Terror Estate of the Heart is an awesome ghost story and a game that captures my heart after a string of so, so follow the dot games. Estate of the Heart begins as a trio who investigates paranormal activity is about to embark on their newest venture at Heart?s Estate, a mansion that has been abandoned since 1904. Jesse is all over this story as he knows that it will make a great addition to the book he is writing, and then there is Arthur who is always looking for a logical explanation. Margie seems to have a lot of patience with her dad?s down to earth attitude while at the same time supporting Jesse in his endeavors. The Heart Estate certainly looks creepy and it has been widely reported that anyone who enters the estate is never seen again but that doesn?t seem to worry our intrepid team as they begin their adventure. Of course, being a ghost story, it isn?t long before things start happening and before too long, you are left on your own to save the others. The game has top-notch graphics that are colorful and crisp with none of those misty washed out scenes that we see in some ghostly games. Another thing that is excellent with Estate of the Heart is the realistic, voiceovers. The voices actually have some emotion and are not the usual flat ?reading from a script? voices we normally encounter. The entire sound package sets the stage for a ghostly tale of terror. The modes of gameplay include the custom mode so you can set up the game for how you like to play. And yes, we have the magic number of five chapters plus the bonus chapter in the CE version of the game. Your tools include an interactive map that is found early in the game and a device that detects electromagnetic energy. Fortunately there is no furry pet helper in sight to ruin a great ghostly tale! Estate of the Heart includes various types of interactive HOPs and I love them. Some items we will find by silhouette and others by list but all of the scenes are interactive with some more so than others. The HOPS in this game are well-crafted and vary in style. There is a hidden surprise to find in each HOP scene so look closely at everything. The mini-games, although not over the top difficult, are a bit tricky. One of the first ones took a bit of fiddling with the movable pieces to get everything in the right spot. I LOVE this game. I like the storyline and the gameplay. I had a couple of jump-scare moments that got the adrenaline pumping and those are what make a ghostly game terrific. Tales of Terror Estate of the Heart is a game I have been eagerly awaiting and it proved to be as excellent as I had hoped. The game had a few challenges and was at least a bit different than the same old storyline. Even though the game was an instant buy for me, as always, please try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. March 13, 2016
A Creepy Fun addition to an exceptional Series!!! CE & SE Welcome to Heart Island Estate in Tales of Terror 3. Its a pretty dangerous place, since year 1904 when its last owner died, and no one has been able to leave this estate alive??? And now Margie Nolan (you), your father Arthur Nolan and your friend Jesse Howards dare to enter these cursed walls. Arthur believes everything could be explained by science, even when he sees a ghost in front of him. Jesse is a writer who is planning to create a masterpiece about the spirits of the dead using materials you will gather, specifically a small TV device that shows all ghostly presence thru a green filter. With in minutes of game play all three of you become separated from each other when the ghost of Luisa Heart sweeps past you and enters Heart Island Estate. You already know the preface of the story in the opening cut-scene where deceased owner Bertram Heart has created an obscure device that restores "Life force" to his wife Luisa, who's life is fading fast from a mysterious illness. Jesse is captured by ominous machine tentacles like those things in H.G. Wells War of the Worlds, and your father is lost in the estate when one of the houses rooms becomes a carousel of passage ways and you have to zip line your way into another part of the mansion via window if you want to save everyone and learn more of what secrets await you in the rest of the estate...I enjoyed every moment of gameplay, the visual style the developers created is unique, and the VO's and sound/SFX are excellent! Some of the special effects in the game are unlike any game I have every played. This adventure offers game players of every level a WILD RIDE throughout the entire story. The bonus chapter adds answers left from the main game. I highly recommend you experience this for yourself! CE bling includes: ? Relive the Heart Estate?s tragic past in the bonus chapter! ? Find heart collectibles hidden throughout the game! ? Spot morphing objects during the hidden-object puzzles ? Earn achievements ? Get beautiful wallpapers, soundtracks, and concept art March 30, 2016
an extremely brilliant game game of the year a perfect game in all ways this game is a must March 30, 2016
what will you do to find out you are still alive a woman was really sick and her dad saved her from dying but you don't know how. margie is called in to find this out. you are dealing with spirits that are trying to help you. you find people in the heart's estate that has had their life force taken from them. you are trying to figure how that is possible. your father and friend are helping what they can. there is a custom level and an interactive map. sequel......i feel sure. after all this is one and it is a series after all. He'll Take You Just Like The Others! Ghosts aren't real, haunted houses don't exist, and paranormal phenomenon can be scientifically explained and refuted, or so the Nolan's thought! Margie and her father Arthur Nolan are investigating the Heart Estate which has been abandoned since 1904. They ain't afraid of no ghost, in fact quite the opposite: they're here to debunk this haunted mansion, with scientific evidence. Luisa Heart, on the other hand, has no intention of being dismissed. This spirit has a ghostly story to tell, a story of love, deceit.......... and murder! What a great storyline, ghost hunters with a level head, rationally trying to explain the unexplainable, even when there is no reasonable explanation. No ghost hunter would be credible without a Paranormal Detector, whenever you see paranormal activity, you search the room through the viewer to find the symbol shown, which exposes the source. The Collector's Edition has the addition of Achievements to earn, and each scene has a Collectible Hidden Heart to find, some of which are well hidden, others in plain sight. (they're still visible in this Edition, you just can't collect them) The Hidden Object Scenes are all about the same, usually with two different layers, Progressive Interactions, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Interactive List Finds and Multiples of a single Item Finds, followed by replacing some items back into the scene, or collecting fragments uncovered. The only thing I was truly disappointed in was that most of the scenes are repeated a second time. In the Collector's Edition, each HOP has a Morphing Object to find for an extra challenge. The Mini Games are decent, but nothing new, below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Rearrange tokens to create an image. 2) Click on groups of eyeballs until all are closed. 3) Drag the bars horizontally or vertically to free all four corners (Blocks) 4) Swap accessories on three different color coded dresses to complete ensemble. 5) Click on the correct buttons as shown in a mirror image, then move tokens into the circles of matching colors. 6) Move telescope viewer up, down, and side to side to focus and find image shown. 7) Untangle ropes then undo all carabiners, clicking on one affects others. The Collector's Edition has 42 Collectible Hidden Hearts, 24 Achievements, 19 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 23 replayable Mini Games, 8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art pictures, Character Bios, 6 Music Soundtracks, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Tales of Terror: Estate of the Heart This game should have been longer, it was very short. It had potential to continue. Graphics Great. I would of liked to see more of the detective, perhaps speaking. Too short. March 20, 2016
. Short game, but fun. It is also super easy. Not much back and forth at all. 2016 August 30, 2016
Robotic tentacles, energy force--all in the name of love! I completed the SE version which was rather short. The best thing about this game was the flow, which is most important to me. Basically, most storylines are about good vs. evil and/or love gone bad! You know the usual. The tasks were well thought out so that's a plus for this game. The rest of the game was okay but not great. Good puzzles and mini-games. Lots of silhouette items and interactive HOS. Way too much machinery for my taste, though. Artwork was okay; lots of machinery, mechanical tentacles and such. Not very exciting! Voiceovers were very good but the lip-syncing was a bit off at times. There was one typo where the sentence read: She was left 'along' in the house. Obviously, the word should have been 'alone.' Music/sound effects were okay and like most games you can turn it down or mute it, which I did from time to time. All in all, it was an okay game. I do recommend it. March 25, 2016
Neither really good, nor really bad. Nice HO's. My rating is based on playing the entire SE and partly fulfillment of my requirements. - Story: A kind of ghost story. During an investigation of paranormal activities an assistant of your father disappears suddenly. Your search leads through a constantly shifting house, with a dangerous past. A ghost is giving hints, whereas your father and his assistant are so not helpful. You have to do it all by you alone. The story is not the best one. - Difficulty can be customized. Tutorial, sparkles, map issues, tasks, penalty and hint / skip recharge. - Graphics/locations/animation and voice-overs were good. - Music: rarely. Mostly ambient noises only. - Tools: you have an interactive map and a detector for paranormal activities - HO?s: Many. Description and silhouettes, interactive. Some were repetitive. You can?t switch to another game. - Mini games: well-crafted, but quite easy. - Adventure part: Altogether too obvious. You don?t have many locations and many items, thus it is not that difficult. - Specials: I liked the googling eye, but I can remember it, from another game. - Length: I needed 4 hours and something for completing. Dislikes: Helping texts can?t be excluded. The father figure as well as the assistant were annoying and seemed a little bit dull. The scenes with that assistant were pretty plain. Slightly unrealistic. Not according to the ghostly story, but due to some details: such as a watering can fire extinguisher or a button in a plant? March 30, 2016
A Waste of My Time After playing the demo, I decided I didn't think this game was worth purchasing. However, I decided to use a free coupon, as I was out of new games to play (there have been very few good time management or adventure games released for Macs recently). I?m sorry I wasted the coupon and that I actually finished this game. There is no reason I would ever want to play it again. The game just goes on and on; after playing for half an hour or so, you will encounter nothing new. The dialog is truly dreadful. The intrepid heroine keeps saving her inept father and his incredibly clueless assistant. There is almost no variation in the hidden object scenes; most of the scenes are repeated. The mini games are OK, but I was pretty much bored by them. All in all, this really was a waste of time for me. But I?ll let you be the judge. Just try before you buy. This for me, was a one-star game; I?m giving it two stars because others may not consider it a total waste of time. March 15, 2016
