Sea of Lies: Leviathan Reef Collector's Edition 4.7 5 38 38
Arrr, Tis Great To "Sea" Pirates In Action Mate! Remember how exciting the very first Sea of Lies game was. The storyline was so different than all of the other games, and took place either at sea or on the coastline with lots of pirates and seafaring mates. The dialect was convincing as was the time period props and wardrobe, I really thought this series was going to be one of my all time favorites, however, Sea of Lies was releasing a new game every time you'd turn around it seemed like, and I began to notice a change. Sea of Lies distanced themselves away from the one thing that set this series apart from all the other genre's, the Pirates! They weren't about treachery and mutiny on the high seas, nobody walked the plank, why? Because there was no plank to walk, most of the games weren't even taking place on a ship, some barely mentioned a ship and even then, there were no pirates. Finally! I think Leviathan Reef will be Sea of Lies' saving grace, with it's beautiful graphics and fantastic pirate flare, I'm not going to complain about a single thing! This Collector's Edition has 41 Hidden Messages in a Bottle, and some of the scenes have a Morphing Object as indicated by the icons above the inventory bar. The Hidden Object Scenes vary with just about every style, Interactive List Finds, Progressive Interactive, Silhouetted Shapes and even Sketches, my favorite takes place on the shoreline where you are tasked with finding multiples of each item, new items wash onto the shore with each ebb of the tide, pretty creative if you ask me. The Mini Games are all pirate themed or nautical themed as well, rotating tokens until all images are in their correct habitat or swapping tiles to complete a pirates map. This Collector's Edition has 18 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 25 replayable Puzzles, replayable Match 3 games, 14 Wallpapers, 14 Concept Art pictures, 41 Hidden Messages in a Bottle, 17 Achievements, 9 Music Soundtracks, 9 Videos, a Tribute Video, a Souvenir Room, 18 Morphing Objects, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Witty, hardyharhar, entertainin'! From the moment when the skeleton in the ?For the best experience ?? screen had a hiccup I was hooked. This conjured a big smile on my face. The smile stayed there, sometimes the game made me laugh out loud. Entertainment at its best! I had a super duper fun time in the ?Windies?, thanks ever so much for another great game! Ok, there?s no sea dragon to beat, nor any other sea monster to fight, ?just? the scurvy Pirate King. The story was very good, graphics and gameplay excellent. I loved the characters, there were so many nice details, the pirate engineer ?No Fingers? or the female pirate. The HO?s had so much variation. Even after so many games I still am curious which items you have collect first to get the list. Occasionally I struggled with the association clues as Hammer and Fish, but this is part of the fun. The puzzles were great as well, some better known than others, but always very nicely presented. I loved the one with the four arms of the skeleton, did every possible move before solving. I?m not a big fan of the mind-reader conversations, but well, can we have games tailored to all our likes? I usually try all the possibilities, just to see whether there are consequences. No, just got mildly threatened and then we go on. The fifth star lacks one point, as Achievements and Extras are always the same. To new players this might be not be an issue, to me it got a bit boring. Still five shinin? stars, as it is a game with no broken zipper ;) Hooray 'n a bottle 'o spiced rum! May 9, 2016
YO-HO-HO IT?S A PIRATES LIFE FOR ME You play the game as the daughter of the governor of an island in the West Indies who has finally come to visit your father after the passing of your mother. Unfortunately, you are kidnapped just as you arrive, separating you from your father and putting you into the perilous situation of walking the line between warring factions. There is the Pirate King, who rather resembles the fabled Blackbeard, and others who are bent on destroying him. Shortly after your capture you find an unlikely ally in the ship?s captain who helps you escape and starts you on your adventure. The gameplay modes include the custom setting where you can select your hint and skip times as well as a few other options. The graphics are absolutely top-notch have create the pirates? island haven to perfection. The HOS are familiar and what we normally see from this developer. In the demo I only saw one scene where we must find five each of two different items to open the list ? a mechanism that has been quite overused. One HOP scene I really liked is where I had to find clothes so that I could camouflage myself as a pirate. Several of the HOS were multi-level and even though they are familiar were enjoyable. The mini-games were good as well and include finding symbols to open a box, place statues in the proper position by moving their limbs, find your way through the jungle by using a map, place weights to position a bridge, and others that are fairly simple. My favorite mini-game was a slider puzzle that requires removing the sliders in the correct order to open a path. All in all even though there were not any difficult mini-games I still found them fun to solve. The CE version includes the following extras: 41 messages in a bottle, 6 chests, and 25 souvenirs to find after you complete the main and bonus games. Morphing objects can be found in the HOP scenes so keep your eyes open to see if you can spot them. Of course you can earn achievements as you play through the game. Other extras include the Strategy Guide, Replay of HOPS and Puzzles, Music, Video, Pictures, and a Souvenir Room. There is also a tribute video for the series that will highlight scenes from all Sea of Lies games. The Sea of Lies series is not my favorite and I found the game to be a bit boring in the beginning. Because the game comes from a great developer who can put together a terrific game package Sea of Lies Leviathan Reef will appeal to many of you who like the series and pirate games. Although there were parts of the game I really enjoyed, most of it seemed to be a lot of effort for very little reward. The game played like every other game from this developer and it is very obvious that it follows the same canned game formula. The game seems predictable and because I don?t care for pirates, it?s just not my cup of tea. The dev recently announced that this series is sailing into the sunset with Leviathan Reef and I think it is an overdue voyage. Maybe they will come up with something different for us to enjoy such as a great sci-fi game series. For those of you who like the Sea of Lies series, it is an excellent game and one that many will enjoy but for me it is one that doesn?t knock me out of my socks. As always, please try the demo to see if this is the game for you. May 7, 2016
Best Hidden Object Game I loved this game so much I hated for the trial to end. Everything was great -- the story line, music, voices, mini-games and the hidden object panels were wonderful. This is absolutely one I will buy. Thanks, developers -- a real treat! One small drawback is that the preview at the end of the trial indicates the story line moves into a dark magic theme, which I'm rather tired of. May 7, 2016
Wish there were more stars!! This game is not only beautiful but loads of fun. Who doesn't like pirates? This game is full of them, dead and alive. The story line and sound are great. Lots of games to play as far as putting things where they belong so you can get to something else, reading maps, trying to figure out who is friend or foe. I REALLY like this game. If there were more stars I would give them to this game. I hope you play it and enjoy it like I am. May 8, 2016
FINALLY!! This is a great little game. You can tell they took the time to do it right. They thought of the little things like spinning gears. Custom difficulty. I also don't like games with too many places open at once. Its too difficult for me to remember where I saw something I need to use an inventory item on. I can keep track on this game, it doesn't get so big its overwhelming. May 8, 2016
Ahoy Maties, the Pirate King is back The opening scene with my wrists bound drew me in to the demo and before I knew it, I was thrown into a pirate role, incognito, with the Pirate King. The storyline is exciting and held my interest throughout. The graphics and sound are brilliant and gives the level of excitement one appreciates as a story unfolds. May 7, 2016
Pirate Adventure and Treasure I base this review on the 90 minute demo. I love the game I have been waiting for a great Pirate themed game and this is it.A Clever HOS scene in the beginning and the cleverness and fun just carry through the rest of the demo. I rarely buy a game right after reviewing it but this is the rare exception. From a pirate ship, to the beach, to the pirate town the characters, story, and scenery make it a joy to play. Don't miss out Dive into a grand adventure. May 8, 2016
A first-class production all around This is apparently the final installment of this series, and the developer has done a beautiful job with this game, literally and figuratively. There have been a few scenes so far where I found myself stopping to gaze in wonder, as the color palette is so gorgeous and so perfectly depicts the theme. The gameplay is great fun. And, thus far, the puzzles have all been enjoyable: nothing obtuse where you are left wondering what on earth you are supposed to do (I have skipped puzzles in other games more times than I care to admit, merely because I didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing. Happily, this is not happening to me with this game). This is a really fine effort by Eipix. I am so glad that I decided to give this game a try. This is a really good game, one that I will probably play again in the future. May 8, 2016
Sea of Lies Retires with a Yo Ho Ho I normally don't buy a Sea of Lies Game but this one caught me by surprise ! I LOVED IT from beginning to end. This one was quite the adventure with so much to do. The voice overs for the pirates were GREAT and so was the artwork that went into creating their appearances. A good length for main game and bonus chapter was more than some I've played.. a good sequel. I chose to play Match-3 in lieu of some of the hidden objects but was disappointed to see the Match-3 in the extras was one of those "endless" games with no real reward. Just when they won me over Eipix is retiring the series. Hopefully they will start creating more of this caliber that isn't (hard) puzzle laden for those of us who prefer more adventure and creative hidden objects. May 9, 2016
