Whats not to like Some have complained that the mini games are too easy but honestly I have been playing big fish games for 12 + years, and sometimes I can't even understand the directions to mini games let alone beat them. I thought it was refreshing to have mini games that made you think but were easy enough to beat without skipping. The story line is top notch. I think most reviewers were in agreement on this. I love match 3 games so that provided a nice change from the norm. No spinning gears while you're placing an inventory item was bad but bearable. The hint button is on the right side so that's good too. I liked the game a lot and I have enjoyed the series too. Worth the buy. May 14, 2016
~~~~BRILLIANT SEQUEL TO ECLIPSE OVER MESINA ~~~~~ People have always feared secret societies that control everything from the shadows, but it would seem like they are either very good at hiding themselves, or very fictional. Granted, there are some examples of what one may call exclusive clubs, and some are trying to rule the world. For me, such ideas make for very engaging books and films, not to mention video games. Your ultimate mission is to recover a powerful artifact from a villain who is robbing society of their emotions turning everyone into EMO'S who gets in the way. The Curio Society: New Order is a clever, well written hidden object adventure game in which you play the role of someone within a secret society. Granted, they are actually trying to help the world rather than hurt it, but it?s still a pretty well-guarded secret. As for the gameplay, everything is more or less the same as in every other HOPA out there, except that the PUZZLES are quite different every time. The story starts when someone steals a powerful artifact from the Curio Society, which prompts a special mission to find the object and bring it back. This item has the power to eliminate all kinds of emotion from the world, thus leaving everyone as empty and as boring as a lifeless husk. You must return the artifact before the one who stole it gets to make use of its powers, and it?s quite a long journey. A journey well worth the hours it takes to complete. Most of your time is spent jumping from scene to scene and trying to spot useful objects in the environment, objects that can be used to unlock doors or perform various other such actions. Some items can be disassembled or combined in order to obtain something else, which prompts yet more searches after that. It really engages you and you feel compelled throughout the entire adventure. You get plenty of wonderful landscapes to look at throughout the adventure, both indoors and outdoors. You can tell that a tremendous amount of work went into the environments, especially since the level of detail is so high. Granted, the cutscene animations could have been executed a little better, but that shouldn?t affect the overall experience very much. I think this series combines Great Mystery with Fun Adventure. I would give this edition more than 5*****. The Curio Society: New Order is quite able to keep you engaged for many hours, especially if you are a fan of the genre and I am definitely a fan. Thank you Big Fish for continuing this relatively new series! xox's May 13, 2016
CURIOSER & CURIOSER?????? Another episode of THE CURIO SOCIETY from DOMINI GAMES. I just finished and enjoyed the demo of this game. It has amazing graphics and scenery. The audio and sound effects are very good. Agent M from the society is on another mission. This time to recover a very powerful artifact that can turn the humans of the world into virtual cyborgs. Living, breathing, flesh and blood, but devoid of any and all emotions, ready to do the bidding of their new master. Trying to stop the villains is easier said than done. The agent managed to get close, but wasn't quick enough to avoid an attack. Henceforth, the hero is in danger again and needs rescuing. There are morphing objects and Rorschach cards to collect and HOS and mini games aplenty to keep players interested. A map for easier travelling from one scene to another, set tasks to do and a journal to keep you up to date. I recommend this game for players of all level of skill. May 12, 2016
Really liked this game The game plays really well and looks great. The HO games are inter-active so you have to use things inside the game to find other things. There is puzzle solving so you can get to where you need to go or find something to help you. I like games like this a lot. They are a bit different from the norm. All I play are HO games so different is welcome. The sound and voices are good but not great. The music was repetitive so I turned it off after awhile. I will certainly enjoy playing the rest of this game. Hope you do too! May 12, 2016
Fantastic! This is absolutely a buy for me! Very fast paced. Great HO's. Fun yet easy mini games. I seldom pay attention to the story line in this type game. They always seem to be the same. This one is different. I want to buy just to see how it ends. Some may find it simple/to easy. I have played hundreds of this genre and love it. No running back and forth and the play moves along briskly. Never bored or irritated. GREAT JOB DEVS!! May 15, 2016
Eliminate emotions? Just thinking about it makes my Italian-American blood boil! Well you have your Stepford Wives, Invaders of the Body Snatchers, and now this madman who wants to rid humans of emotions all together by injections. Quick! An antidote! It's actually very disturbing to be stifled in any way or means! But you are an agent out to get the villain once again! He had better stay out of my way or he'll get my Italian up! I love this game! I love the order, the strategy rocks, the graphics are very pleasing to the eye; the storyline and the music are great, the voiceovers are very good. I wish they would speak a little faster, though, and a couple of voices didn't seem to fit the character but I'll not quibble over that! I bought this game after I played a demo and eventually bought that and this one as well, with a great discount from Big Fish Games. Anyway, this CE version has lots to offer as far as activities are concerned. Great HOPS and tasks. The tasks and HOPS were my fav things to do in this game. I'm more than halfway through the game. Such fun and great flow! I also like the option of playing the Match-3 Game. Very cool! Lots of achievements to be had; various collectibles-morphing objects. I'm not into the wallpaper scene or concept art, although I do read the credits on every game I play and like to check out who did what especially in the art department. I highly respect the developers who really put their hearts and souls into their games. Artwork and strategy and graphics play a very crucial part in my scoring. Music can always be muted, but not in this case. The map is great; the hint button is good, and you have your strategy guide if need be. There was one puzzle that almost stumped me -- figuring out a combination that had vague instructions and I do believer there was no skip button for that particular puzzle. I had to refer to the Strategy Guide for help, which I very rarely do these days. Also, I had to click the mouse a few times on certain items to complete a task. The music in this game fits right in with the storyline. The mini-games vary and are okay but I would have to agree with the reviewer who expressed her disappointment on how the mini-games did not reflect the theme of the game to paraphrase or perhaps quote what she said. She hit the nail right on the head. However, I loved. loved, loved, the HOPS and the various tasks, e.g., retrieving the Diving Bell; replacing the broken glass to the Diving Bell; and various other tasks that I'm sure most gamers will enjoy. There are a slew of other fun things to do, you'll see! The subject matter isn't new but for the sake of this game, it's rather wonderful. I'm giving it a low-5 star rating for the reasons I have mentioned In this CE version you can view the medical profiles, achievements, and archive. The archive has Dancing Shoes, which let you dance for unlimited amount of time and you never get tired. Then you have the IQ Beret--your IQ level will skyrocket and you will be able to figure everything out without any problems; then you have your Sweet Talking Mirror, who will shower you with compliments--probably until you get sick of hearing it! LOL! Don't know just yet how these things work but I'm anxious to find out after the Bonus Game. Bravo, Domini developers! I've got my eye on you! I highly recommend this game. Try the demo first, though. June 2, 2016
I love this! Sharp,cool and exciting, truly fantastic XXX May 13, 2016
Emotional Register Full Fantastic game. First HO was Tricky and had really good HO's. You can play Match three if too difficult or does not tickle your fancy. Supreme Characters, Very nice game flow, Critter action. Love when at times you click on areas making things happen. Like the Trout in the Stream, Lots to do, Great Plot, Good Jump Map, Good game and possible contender of game of the year award. Goes to the near top of my to buy list. May 12, 2016
Enjoyable Fun This game was really fun to play and enjoyed the storyline. It was challenging enough but not too challenging as others mentioned. I have played it all the way through but haven't played the bonus game yet. I plan on playing it again. July 10, 2016
THE NEW ORDER: CHANGING EMOTICONS TO ROBOCONS OVERVIEW: Prepare for the advent of a new world order ? one in which society is perfectly controlled and devoid of human emotions. This ?utopian? society is being formulated by a madman, Frederick. Can you stop Frederick before he turns the entire world into one ?zombie nation?? I rate this a low 5-star game. I LOVE the story, the graphics, the HOP scenes, but am disappointed in the puzzles. The graphics are cartoon-like and beautifully illustrated as in past games. I feel that the story script behind this game is better than the previous games and does have some social relevance. In the game there are 20 HOP scenes and 23 mini-games. All the puzzles I played are easy and I thought the HOP scenes were better constructed than the puzzles. There are two collectibles, Rorschach tests and medical cards. You search for morphing objects as well. I will purchase this game; however, it will be as an SE instead of a CE. HOP SCENES: The HOP scenes are very creative. In the demo there are two multiple-step ones. In one of the scenes you must locate items by their silhouette and use them to interact with the scene. In the other scene you search for morphing objects followed by a silhouette sequence in which you must locate several of the same item in order to remove the silhouette. The other HOP scenes include a storybook sequence with items listed in colored letters, and a couple of lists of items to locate. You also have the option to play a thematic Match-3 game instead. MINI-GAMES: I was disappointed with the mini-games and I feel they are the weakest part of the game. To me, they do not reflect the theme of the game, and it seems they were just ?thrown? into the game without any consideration how they fit the theme of this game. As stated previously, all of those in the demo are easy with little or no challenge. Many of the puzzles in the demo involve some type of action to restore pictures or images. They include a few sequence puzzles, switch puzzles, assembly puzzles, a maze puzzle, a storybook sequence, and a slider puzzle to create a picture. There is one multiple-step puzzle which includes a matching puzzle and a sequence puzzle. LEVELS: Casual, Advanced, Hardcore, Custom Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds EXTRAS: Map is given to you at the start of the game 32 Achievements Collect 10 Rorschach tests Collect medical files 15 Morphing objects: A personality quiz to play after the demo Strategy guide 12 wallpapers, 10 concept art, music HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND MINI-PUZZLES HOP SCENES: You have the option to play a thematic Match-3 game instead A. Multiple step. (1) Silhouette items (2) Replacement of those items within the scene. Excellent scene in which the items are located and then interact with the scene to proceed. B. Multiple step. (1) Morphing objects. (2) Silhouette items (You must locate several items for each silhouette to fill in and eliminate it from the screen) C. Storybook sequence. Sentences with items to be removed listed in colored letters. Quite creative. Items are on a bulletin board. D. List of items to locate. Very creative. Using a light switch, switch from one scene to another. E. List of items to locate. Somewhat interactive. PUZZLES: Puzzle Rating: (1) Extremely easy: (2) Easy: (3) A little difficult or time consuming: (4) Moderately difficult: (5) Difficult A. Assembly puzzle. Reassemble four images by switching tiles. Once the images have been created, place them into a grid to create a crossbow. Moving tiles in one image can affect those in other images. Rating: 2 B. Switch puzzle. Switch triangles to recreate a picture. Rating: 2 C. Multiple step. (1) Matching puzzle. Match up tokens which can only been seen when you press a button for each one. Incorrect matches result in the items being moved. (2) Sequence puzzle. Flip levers in sequence to open a portal Rating: 2 for both puzzles D. Sequence puzzle. Press typewriter keys in correct order according to finger print patterns. Rating: 2 E. Switch puzzle. Rotate test tubes in 3 rows by color so that the center 3 tubes follow the color scheme of that given on the tube at the bottom of the scene. Rotating one row may affect the other rows. Rating: 2 F. Assembly puzzle. Create an antidote by adding ingredients in the proper sequence. If you make a mistake, you must start over. Rating: 2 G. Slider puzzle. Using arrows move 5 slats sideways to create a picture. Rating: 2 H. Sequence puzzle. Press switches in proper sequence to open a secret compartment. Switching one affects the others. Rating: 2 I. Storybook sequence. Press items within scenes to change them to fit the scene. Rating: 2 J. Maze puzzle. Using X-ray glasses, move a slider through all gears only once to open a safe. Rating: 2 May 12, 2016
